I’ve wanted to write this for quite some time, I hope I managed to capture the feelings well enough sdlkfjslkdjf Pairing: Saeran/MC (good ending Saeran), but the fic is actually about the twins!

The room was finally quiet. MC, exhausted after long hours of labour, indulged in her well-deserved sleep. Their newborn daughter, too, was exhausted after screaming her lungs out in her first contact with the outside world. The rest of the RFA finally left as well after welcoming the little miracle, cooing over her golden eyes and the wisp of red hair atop her head. Immediate family would stay the night, until MC felt strong enough to leave the hospital.

Saeran and Saeyoung sat in silence. It was not an uncomfortable sort of silence - rather, a way to indulge in the peace and quiet that would surely become a rare treat in the months to come. Emotions soared high this day, and both brothers were glad for a means to finally rest. An unspoken request kept Saeyoung in the room with his brother.

The tick…tick…tick… of the clock was the only proof that time hadn't stopped.

"Hey, Saeyoung?"

"Yeah?"

Saeran didn't tear his gaze away from the sleeping babe in his arms. She was so tiny, so fragile, so utterly dependent on him…

"Do you think mom loved us… even a little bit?"

Saeyoung visibly stiffened. His expression softened, and if Saeran looked at him, he'd see the pain glistening in his eyes, the hesitancy lingering on his lips as he looked for the right words.  

"Saeran…"

"I mean-" he spoke quickly, as if to cut off his brother before he said anything else, "-we survived infanthood. And-- babies can't do anything on their own. If… If they didn't have anyone to take care of them, they'd die. So she had to have cared, right? At least- at the beginning, a little bit… right?" 

Saeyoung stood up from his seat and walked slowly to his brother. He sank down onto the bed, sitting besides Saeran. His hand rested on his shoulder before he spoke.

"We were weapons against our father. A means to get money." He wished it wasn't so. He wished he could've said otherwise, to imagine even an ounce of love in their monster of a mother, but he had to say the truth. There was no room for regrets, for looking for gold in a past made of ash. He wasn't about to let Saeran start to doubt himself. Not now.

"…Not even at the beginning?"

It was less a question than a statement.

"I don't know," Saeyoung confessed. His voice grew quiet, too. He looked at his niece, barely a couple hours old, asleep in his brother's arms. "Maybe she did. But that doesn't matter. There's no forgiving what she did."

Saeran nodded. "I know."

"And you're going to be a thousand times better than our parents ever were."

"…I know."

Saeyoung could still hear the hesitance in his brother's voice, the oozing self-doubt at the prospect of parenthood. He didn't blame him. After what they went through, it was impossible not to fear repeating the same mistakes. Therapy and friends and of course MC helped heal the wounds, though the scars would never fade.

Any childhood would be better than theirs.

With two loving parents, uncles and aunts a-plenty, Saeran whispered to his daughter a promise of laughter and love and family. A promise of happiness.

W - Waking up to you

Saeran often woke up during the night. It wasn’t always due to nightmares - though they were often the cause - nor because he wasn’t tired enough. But sleeping for 4 or less hours a day for months on does something to someone. It had imprinted on him, and even now, when he was free to sleep however long he wanted to, his body didn’t always cooperate.

He opted to lie in bed nonetheless, wanting to fall asleep. He remembered what his therapist told him - just lying in bed rested the body, even if sleep didn’t come. Even these sleepless nights were bearable with you at his side.

Saeran really couldn’t imagine anything being unbearable as long as you were with him.

The moonlight streamed in through the window, illuminating the room with a soft silver glow. The curtains were almost never down. He liked being able to see the sky and the growing garden whenever he glanced out the window, a luxury he’d been denied for years before he met you.

Your skin, too, seemed to glow in the moonlight. It was peaceful. The steady rise and fall of your chest reminded Saeran that you were here, that you were real, that you were his. That he had nothing to fear, even when nightmares ripped through him, or when self-doubt bubbled up in his stomach.

Lying on his side, elbow tucked beneath his head, Saeran shifted closer to you. You looked so peaceful, so beautiful… Part of him was afraid that this moment would shatter into a thousand pieces if he as much as reached out to touch you.

You reminded him - always - that he should wake you up if he had nightmares, if he couldn’t sleep. You’d hear him out and stroke his hair and let him cry into your chest if he needed. Not once were you angry at having been woken up, though that was his biggest fear the first couple of weeks you were together.

Saeran wrapped an arm around your waist and snuggled up against you, his nose buried in the crook of your neck. You stirred.

“…'ran? You okay?” You mumbled, voice dripping with sleep.

“Yeah,” he whispered, “I’m okay. Go back to sleep, MC.”

You murmured something incoherent before sleep dragged you back into its grasp. It really was okay. Just being with you made everything better.

Saeran pressed a kiss against your shoulder. He was so lucky, he thought, to have someone as wonderful as you to call his.

Full of happy and peaceful thoughts, he waited for sleep to come again.

Intro:

You were writing - taking notes or making a list or anything in that regard - and for a moment you pulled away to think, absentmindedly playing with your pencil. Your phone suddenly rang, and the loud noise surprised you so much that - bam! - you stabbed the pencil into your arm (on accident!). But your attention was on the ringing phone, so you went to pick it up (only to find it was a telemarketer), leaving the pencil stuck in your arm...

Yoosung:

MC???? OMG. 

he panics for a moment but uh actually he’s a vet student so he braces himself and rushes in to help you!

 you brush him off and he’s like >:c 

“Mc! you should be more worried!! let me help you.”

you can’t get rid of him sorry he’s definitely going to take care of you no matter what you say

so he sits down with you with disinfectant and a band-aid and takes out the pencil from your arm 

all the while lecturing you about how you should pay more attention to your surroundings and to tell him when something’s wrong!

Zen:

“babe?? omg you got hurt!”

Zen doesn’t notice at first since you didn’t make any noise

But once he notices he is flat out panicking

Since he’s been living on his own for a long time, he’s been taking care of himself so he knows how to deal with minor injuries like this one

Although he gets a little worried about hurting you in the procedure, since he heals really fast but you don’t...

He patches you up nicely, all the while scolding you to be more careful

Once it’s all done, he leans in and kisses your band-aid

“So that it gets better quickly <3″

Jaehee:

“oh my! mc are you ok??” 

she is also more worried than you. Immediately drops whatever she was doing to take a look at your injury

but since you’re not worried and not in any apparent pain, she’s very relieved and doesn’t make a big deal out of this.

Jaehee helps you take the pencil out for you - if you complain she’ll just say this is what you get for being careless - and gets you a bandaid.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” She asks like five times, just in case. But as long as you say you’re fine, she trusts you.

Jumin:

“MC? You uh, have a pencil in your arm.”

Jumin is really confused at first, he’s quiet and trying to asses the situation for the first little while. Since you’re not making a big deal out of it he’s not really sure how to react, is it even hurting you?

But. You have a pencil. stuck in. your arm. ???

oh no. now he’s also worried.

“I’ll call the doctor right away.” Jumin pulls out his phone immediately and you have to bEG him not to, that you’re actually okay

“But darling, you’re hurt-”

“I’m okay!! Really! Look!” You yank the pencil out of your arm - and this time it hurts.

Doesn’t really ease Jumin’s worries, but once it stops bleeding he’s finally agrees to let the whole doctor thing go.

Saeyoung:

“haha MC that’s a great prank buT you’re going to have to do better than that to fool me!!”

there’s no blood, not scream of pain, so of course it’s a prank, right??

he comes over and gives the pencil a little flick but it stays in place and that’s when Saeyoung freaks out - this isn’t a prank!!

“why didn’t you say anything?? how did you even do this-”

he’s talking the entire time as he gets the first aid kit. He’s dealt with worse wounds before (and so have you), but Saeyoung hates hates hates seeing you hurt so he goes all the way to the extreme.

Once you’re all patched up, he regrets he didn’t take a picture, since looking back it was pretty hilarious

V:

are you okay? he’s very gentle, and since you’re not worried he’s not making a scene, but he helps you get it out and all.

“are you okay, MC?”

Jihyun is super gentle with you - voice and touch alike.

Since you don’t seem to be worried, he’s not making a scene either

He trusts you in your pain scale! as long as you’re okay, he’s okay, too.

Gives off more of a “I’m not mad, just disappointed” atmosphere, but with worries

He helps you remove the offending pencil and asks if you need a band-aid

“How did this even happen?” he laughs a little bit afterwards and shakes his head, kind of amused.

Saeran:

MC???

this boy never ever wants you to get hurt so this is a big deal for him!

much bigger than for you, in any case, since you’ve barely realised you’ve got a pencil sticking out of your arm...

“are you okay? what happened? does it hurt a lot?”

he’s bombarding you with questions, but you manage to wave them off with a “yes i’m fine, don’t worry!”

thankfully you’re not hurt, so Saeran’s also okay and once he calms down he doesn’t magke a huge deal out of it but

wow you sure gave him a scare!

you probably end up apologising a little, “I didn’t mean to scare you, but I’m okay! I’ll be more careful in the future” you promise.

A - Asking you out

Okay. You can do this, Jaehee. It’s just one question. 

You were over at Jaehee’s apartment, both curled up on the couch as you watched one of Zen’s first musicals - a classic, if you will. Well, Jaehee was trying to watch, but today she just couldn’t concentrate on the screen, not even during Zen’s solo. No, her mind was far too preoccupied with you besides her, hugging the pillow.

God, you were so cute.

And for some reason she found herself wishing you’d hug her instead of the couch pillow.

Come on, ask her. If you can stand up to Jumin, you can definitely ask the one you love on a date. It’s not like your friendship might crumble if she says no…

There it was again - that squeezing feeling in her stomach, that inevitable anxiety that swept away all the confidence she’d previously built up.

Beep beep beep! Beep beep beep!

“I’ll get it.” Jaehee says and gets up at once, without even asking to pause the movie. You grab the remote and do so anyway.

In the kitchen, Jaehee opens the oven and - after checking the cake with a toothpick - pulls it out of the oven. It would need to cool before you two could start decorating it, but that could easily come later. It would be beautiful, she knew! Though she only started baking a couple weeks ago and her skills were still growing, she’d come to greatly enjoy it. Especially when it’s with you…

Oh, how Jaehee wished she could spill her heart out to you! To interlace your fingers together, to lean in and kiss your lips, to fall asleep in each other’s embrace… Even as a friend, you were the best thing that’s ever happened to her. That’s why she was so scared of shattering this friendship if you didn’t return her feelings…

“Jaehee? Is everything okay?” Your gentle voice, hinting at worry, brought her out of her daydreams. You came into the kitchen, “You’ve been gone for a while… Did something happen?”

“No, it’s fine. Sorry to worry you,” Jaehee puts on the best smile she can manage as she sweeps her worries away.

But you can see right through her, and you’re not having any of that.

“You’ve been quiet all day today. You know you can tell me if something’s bothering you, right?” You coax and take her hand. Jaehee’s heart nearly jumps out of her chest.

She blushes beneath your concerned gaze. Having you by her side… It was worth risking everything for this sweet, potential future. She takes in a deep breath and steels her resolve.

“Actually, there’s something I’ve been thinking about… MC, would you like to go out for coffee sometime?”

“Sure!” You don’t miss a beat.

“I mean… Not as friends, but as a.. a date.”

Now it’s your time to blush, though the hue matches you so perfectly along with that bashful smile, Jaehee thinks… Her heart’s pounding at a hundred beats a minute… You’re still holding her hand as you lean over and kiss her cheek.

“I thought you’d never ask.”
