[3/10] Gay pioneer LeFou joins the “Don’t Say Gay” protest outside Disney’s headquarters !

Florida House Bill 1557 (aka Don’t Say Gay) is a law introduced and passed in 2022 which restricts discussion of gender and sexuality in schools.

Disney was criticized for not immediately speaking up against the bill, especially as the Orlando Sun Sentinelreported that the company funded every politician who sponsored it. (the company noted it donates to both Democratic and Republican lawmakers)

On March 22, Hundreds of employees were seen marching and protesting outside the company’s headquarters, this eventually led to Disney vowing to help have the law repealed, and they also donated 5 million dollars to support nonprofit lgbtqa+ organizations that advance social justice. 🏳️‍🌈

LeFou (Beauty and a Beast) was the first gay coded Disney character, was created by an openly gay animator, Andreas Deja.

For these reasons I’ve decided to choose him for this scenario I knew I wanted to do.
