Judaism is so awesome! Imma check this out.
I’d love to study the comparative history of Christianity as it relates to Judaism, but I’d definitely want to base my research and sources on the Rabbinical/Jewish side, as they are usually very intelligent on their history whereas Christians tend to not even know how their sect was founded.
do you like judaism?
do you like video games?
well, my rabbi streams himself playing mario kart and talking about jewish things on twitch every friday morning at 9am pacific time. other mornings, less gaming, but just as much jewish learning
he also has a youtube
it’s a fun time, check it out when you have a chance

Share it with everyone.
One time my rabbi told us, “imagine you had a box with a little bit of god in it. What would you do with the box?”
So we were like ?? “We’d protect it and keep it nice and clean and polished” and he was like “your body’s that box. Stop eating markers”

As an inappropriate giant nerd, I think this hilarious. I’d send this to my parents just to make them uncomfortable. I mean, my mom would laugh. My dad would go red in the face and then walk away.

i can no longer take any description of a male protagonist seriously if the writer describes him as ‘brooding’
because i used to think ‘oh, that’s sexy and mysterious, etc’
and now i think of this

Most excellent. I am planning on getting her a little brother or sister at some point and will introduce them slowly.
She is capable of getting to the “We shall share this space but be annoyed about it” with other cats, however, she’s a face puncher. When we visit my parents, who have two older cats (including the one she grew up with -- that one bonded with my mom when I moved home for a period of time), she’ll waltz by all nonchalantly and then, of a sudden, smacks ‘em in the face a couple times and runs off.
I’m hoping a younger sibling who will interpret this as obvious play fight time, will work better than the reaction of the older cats which is, “What the crud just happened?”
Hi Auntie Z...you're a full 3 years older than me, but I'm still using Auntie. Anyway, my 8 year old cat grew up around another cat, then she wasn't around another cat for 6 months and now she hates every other living creature who she can see (save for humans). Why she do this?
I’ve had people older than me on Tumblr call me “Auntie,” it’s less of an honorific and more of a perpetual state of being comfortably uncool and happily into early middle age.
My guess is that, like an oldest child who has had to share a room for most of her life and then moved to university and got a single dorm, your cat got a taste of Being Alone and Having Her Space and now she doesn’t want to share. (Disclaimer: I’m not a cat behavior specialist. I may, however, be an oldest child and veteran room-sharer.)
Or it might just be the other creatures specifically! Max loves most other cats- he adored Rogue and he still thinks Anabel is the best thing in the world, but he has hated The Count from the minute we brought him home as a tiny kitten and kept them separated by a door for the first few months. He would hiss at the baby’s smell, and once they met he was in a perpetual state of grump.
To this day, they don’t get along. 90% of the time if I hear an eruption of hissing and snarling, they’re going at it. I break them up as often as possible, but The Count is kind of a dick and Max would prefer to spend time in the bathroom (cat jail) than deal with him when he’s in a confrontational mood.
Cats have Opinions, man. Specious Feline Opinions.

Dear Hellen, @hellenhighwater, what happens with adult business shirt and pajama pants? Do you shovel people into your face and check your fires or do you call hamburgers and set things on your inbox?
Hot adulting tip: make a “responsibilitysona” and roleplay them when you have chores to do

I like this. I often think, “What fantasy setting would have the ‘real world’ as their fantasy realm.” I could never think of an example until I read this post.
In the steampunk universe you can buy dime novels in a genre known as electrofiction. Electrofiction takes place in a world where everything is powered by electricity created by gas, wind, and sunlight.
In this world of electricity and gas, great winged metal tubes fly higher than blimps. Gears have been replaced in computers with mysterious green boards covered in weird shapes of metal, and telephones can fit in people’s pockets.
It’s a world of simple clothing and complicated machines. A world where the average man can drive an automobile powered by explosions rather than steam and take it hundreds of miles away in a matter of hours. No tracks required.
It’s a vision of the future that has been cold for a hundred years. The type of fiction that would’ve been written by those who believed in the fallacy of gasoline over a hundred years ago. Though people keep writing about this world. Why? Could it have something to do with the colorful clothing? The aesthetic of mechanics getting grease on their faces? The desire for movement and freedom?
Or maybe it has to do with all that soot in the sky. The pea soup fogs and dust masks. The coal burning in homes and unbearably hot summers. Maybe people want to believe that there’s a universe out there that’s not so completely beyond repair. That maybe if they wish hard enough all the steam will clear away and the storms will leave.
Maybe that’s the appeal of electrofiction.

This is inaccurate. If donating $1 at the grocery store helps you feel good, do it. The company can’t get a tax deduction unless they match the donation.

If you want to be sure a corporation doesn’t benefit from your donation, just donate directly.

Some places don’t even name the charity like you’re just donating to the corporation’s tax writeoff. You’re better off giving that money to a homeless person on the street who needs it more..

Yep. That’s why I didn’t get diagnosed with ADHD until I was 32. Turns out my brain never really figured out how to make dopamine.
If you are an adult who identifies with the concept of Gifted Kid Syndrome and:
You have an unusually intense reaction to the concept of rejection, whether personal, professional, or academic
You have consistent trouble meeting deadlines
You have big dreams and ambitions that are completely achievable, but you consistently can’t take steps toward achieving them and you don’t know why
You procrastinate, like a lot
You like video games, like a lot
You switch seemingly at random between binge watching your favorite shows for absurd lengths of time or not being able to sit down and focus on them unless you’re doing something else at the same time
You cannot for the life of you keep your living area clean and organized
You struggle with substance dependencies, whether with alcohol, tobacco, weed, harder drugs, or even just caffeine
You struggle with texting/calling/emailing back, even for people you care about deeply and/or even for important deadlines
Please, please, please consider seeking out an ADHD evaluation.
I’m not a psychiatrist or any kind of a medical professional, but personally I can’t help but notice how many elements of what I was perceiving as personal failures before my diagnosis stem directly from my executive dysfunction. Meds and an adequate support system can make a world of difference!
Just some advice from your friendly neighborhood nonbinary-mom-friend blogger!

This! Reptiblr opened my eyes to bad husbandry and I’ll never go back. The shot of your lizard playing with your cat or your cat sleeping in your lizard’s enclosure is cute until the cat scratches or bites the lizard and the lizard dies. Even if the scratch or bite is 100% by accident, same result, dead lizard.

@simonalkenmayer, obviously the vaccines caused the STDs because they allowed the child to live long enough to have sex.
The child could’ve not gotten vaccines, died from whooping cough, and never have had to worry about STDs.

Now admittedly I posted these richly on my own tumbler but information seems to spread further via yours. I wanted people to see this. First you got to post from anti-vaxxers on Facebook both of which call for mass shootings and don’t worry I actually reported these there’s a website you can go to report messages like this. And here’s a list from VAers listing so-called vaccine injuries. Apparently getting murdered or sunburnt is caused by vaccines. This is why I always tell anti-vaxxers that vaccine injuries don’t exist because according to them you can be a 60 year old man who smokes 5 packs of cigarettes a day since you were 10 years old and drink four bottles of Jack Daniels every day and if you have a stroke it’s because of the polio vaccine and not because of your unhealthy lifestyle.
-Jami-
Extremism takes many forms. False corollary is the forte of the extremist. Why? Because it is necessary to rationalize or legitimize their obviously extreme feelings and beliefs. You will never convince these people that they are wrong, because the more proof you bring, the more radical the hysteresis will be in their psychology. The only thing that might sway them is an incurable disease preventable via vaccine. The simple truth is autism is not caused by vaccine. It has always existed. It’s also not bad. And finally, while it is possible to eperience reactions to vaccines, those reactions are entirely confined to an immune system response. Meaning the immune system acquiring the elements and coping with incorporating them. Fever, flu like symptoms, skin inflammation. Those are common with less stable vaccines…but they’re also proof the vaccine works and that you’re not shoving water into your veins. Side effects are proof that vaccines are real and that their net value is overwhelmingly good.
Back when the polio vaccine was created, I saw people lined up around the block to receive it. People were desperate and with good cause. The rates of polio essentially evaporated entirely almost at once. A disease that ravaged children, gone. It was miraculous. And because these fascist idiots cannot recall what that was like, they talk about what could be with certainty, when they are actually completely unaware of what could be. Not to mention that a few people having an adverse reaction to a vaccine and possibly either not completing the course or becoming ill for a day or two is MORE than worth the benefits. And entire disease wiped out with a few people in a thousand spending a day with their feet up? Seems perfectly reasonable to me. But then again, humans are selfish in many ways that have never made sense to me.
