I wrote a mean post im turning it into a less mean post. I think it’s awesome if you feel represented by lesbians they put in supernatural and I think it’s awesome they put a lesbian in supernatural as a consolation prize for all the psychological warfare waged on gay teenage girls. I do also think you do not under any circumstances have to hand it to supernatural re: the depth of women nor the veracity of lesbian experiences. We must remember it was 2012. The male writers of supernatural were not waging war on neutered chaste lesbians by having Charlie make out with a woman. Because it was 2012. I think it’s pretty obvious that there is a disparity in how lesbian relationships are portrayed in supernatural (I watch porn! I make out with women on screen!) and how gay male relationships are portrayed (we hold hands for five seconds! We don’t say the words gay or relationship and we don’t touch!) that relates to the disparity in the trends of how men are dressed/talked about (one thousand layers, insulted by saying bastard etc) and how women are dressed/talked about (hooker shoes aisle, bitch slut whore bitch). N I also think it’s worth considering how up to this point the Other most explicit moments of same sex intimacy are when monsters assault people and it’s supposed to read as scary Yet titillating.
