Mikey Garcia beats Robert Easter, Jr. by UD; eyes matchup with Errol Spence, Jr.
Photo: Showtime Boxing
Los Angeles, CA - In front of 12,560 fans in a lively Staples Center in Los Angeles, Mikey Garcia proved he is the man to beat at 135 lbs.  Make that 147lbs.  In Garcia's post fight interview, he called out current IBF World Champion, Errol Spence, Jr.
After winning a lopsided victory over a game Easter, Garcia feels the need to jump to 147 to face Spence instead of facing Ukranian world champ and arguably the current pound for pound best fighter in the world, Vasily Lomachenko.
Garcia started a little slow but picked up the pace in the third round with a beautiful combination ending with a left hook which sent Easter to the canvas.  Easter got back up and lasted the distance, but Garcia's skill and precision shots proved too much for Easter to handle.    The judges were in agreement, scoring the bout 118-109, 117-110, and 116-111 all for Garcia.
Undercard:
- Luis Ortiz KO'd Razvan Cijanu in the 2nd round
- Karlos Balderas and Jose Baleras both win by KO

#Repost @supremeboxing ・・・ CARLOS CUADRAS SUSPENSION UPDATE  Former WBC superflyweight champion @cuadrasoficial , from Mexico, has been temporarily suspended by the WBC and has entered a rehabilitation program for drugs and alcohol abuse.  Carlos Cuadras has entered a program in which he is accepting to, once and for all, eradicate his unfortunate addiction to recreational drugs and alcohol.  Mauricio Sulaiman, WBC President spoke at length with Cuadras and expressed the WBC's absolute support during this process.  Carlos Cuadras has always been closely associated with the WBC throughout his professional career which began in March 2010; he has won several WBC affiliated titles, including, Youth, Continental Americas and Silver and then conquered the Green and Gold glory by defeating current champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and made 6 title defenses before losing his WBC championship in a very close fight to Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez.  Carlos Cuadras admitted that fame, glory and money, which come from success in the ring, haunted him and slowly became weak to the temptations and peer pressure from his pseudo friends. "I am convinced that I will win this battle. I have a wife and a son to support and I represent my country, I need to find the strength with the help of God to find a cure to this horrible nightmare as I have lived in hell, but I am a champion and will be victorious", said Cuadras.  He added: "I never failed a test in boxing, respected the sport but my usage in my private life, between fights, certainly affected my career in the sport I love.  I am very thankful to those who have supported me during the difficult times. I am embarrassed and apologize to the public and to the sport but beg you to give me one last opportunity". The WBC will follow Carlos Cuadras process and will be in his corner in full support with the confidence that he will overcome adversity. 📸 by @willieromerophotography for @boxingtrend / @supremeboxing #CarlosCuadras #Boxing #Boxeo #SupremeBoxing (at Pasadena Ronald McDonald House)

Current WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is likely on a collision course with WBA and IBF world champion Anthony Joshua sometime in 2018.
However, Wilder has to get by Cuba's Luis Ortiz on November 4, before he can even think about a potential unified title fight against Joshua.
In the mean time, catch one of Wilder's most impressive knockout victories when he faced off against Artur Szpilka in 2016.

Billy Joe Saunders calls out GGG on Twitter
By Willie Romero
After winning a unanimous decision victory over Willie Monroe Jr. at the Copper Box Arena in London, Billy Joe Saunders called out Gennady GGG Golovkin on Twitter.
Saunders holds the WBO middleweight title while Golovkin holds the IBO, WBC, WBA and IBF middleweight belts. Golovkin who is coming off a disputed draw decision against Saul Canelo Alvarez, said he would like a rematch with Canelo.  Many experts had the fight scored even or had Golovkin ahead on points.
The controversy came when judge Adalaide Byrd's scorecard was read. She scored the fight 118-110 in favor of Canelo. She awarded Golovkin only 2 of the 12 rounds, the 4th and 7th.
Many who watched the fight would like to see Canelo vs GGG II next year over the Cinco de Mayo holiday. Saunders, however, is attempting to throw his name in the mix for a shot at unifying the middleweight titles.
............
Who would you like to see Golovkin fight next?  Post a comment below.
