Creating an International Library as a Literary Noah's Ark

(Mikazuki News) Jan 7, 2014 - Millions of book titles are published every year throughout the world and libraries although under a central system, do not have a central repository on an international scale. What would the creation of an international library to serve as a sort of "Noah's Ark" for books, look like? How many books can a library hold? The Harvard Widener Library system on the campus of Harvard University holds more than 19 million book titles. For the creation of an international library, the cooperation of national libraries and provincial libraries would have to be planned and implemented both uniformly and systematically. After the initial stage of sharing information between databases, the depositing and cataloging of books that enter this international library system would be next. The funding of this international library system could be received from the United Nations, but a separate organization to create this system could be made for Education Ministers of each respective nation to speed up the process of implementation. There could be exceptions made for certain works of fiction, but this international library system would first and foremost have to be dedicated to preserving knowledge and thus, non-fiction book titles would be the most logical choice. Besides books, this international library would hold film, music, databases, and provide a center for international education. Kambiz Mostofizadeh Non-Fiction Writing Contest for Wake Technical Community College Kambiz Mostofizadeh, CEO of Mikazuki Publishing House, has announced the creation of a writing contest for Wake Technical Community College students in Raleigh, NC. Wake Technical, with an annual enrollment of approximately 17,000 students, was founded in 1958. The Kambiz Mostofizadeh Non-Fiction Writing Contest, starting in January 2014 and ending in February 2014, is an annual prize. In order to apply, students must submit a 15,000 word paper on a non-fiction subject relating to the social or physical sciences. Papers are rated according to the quality of the content and the breadth of research conducted. The winner will receive a one-time award of $300, one month after the selection of the winning paper.
