It wasn’t exactly a warm welcome in most cases. Many were skeptical, especially with the usual power imbalance between titans and other creatures. Someone showing up and spending time with one of the most vulnerable among them raised some suspicion.

I don’t want to accidentally spoil the comic, but generally most grown ups saw the Collector as a mostly harmless child—someone for the baby titans to play with until they got bored or the kid wanted to head back to the village
