The Mythic Equus

There are many mythical species that disappeared along with the dragons. The mythic equus trinity happening to disappear about three centuries before the last of the dragons. The royal trinity of equine being the Unicorn, the Pegasi, as well as the Hind. The purebred of the unicorn having an array of different types of horns and placements and numbers. Always at least beholding one horn. Each horn only having one singular tip. Hinds having two sets of multi-tipped antlers upon their skull, with a mane of hair that extends down the back and tail. These are clear differences from unicorns as they never have antler style horns. While they may have smaller sharp tooth like horns down their faces. The pegasi having two massive wings lined with sharp bony spikes.

Each of these creatures had long been known as great guardians of earth. protectors of the beasts and trees. But in the rise of the great Iron Shade religion they as well found themselves targeted much like dragons to be used as sacrifices and blood offerings. Many years ago it is said that the great Goddess Equualia hid her prized beasts from the selfish eyes of men. Much like the dragons they two found themselves hidden in human, mortal bodies. Magic and beastly forms suppressed until the return of the Great Mother Dragon.

Dragons

Dragons are an ancient, regal species that define power and might. They have been worshipped through out the history of Eylantis, and are seen as totems of strength and strong magic. Those whom have wielded the darker arts in centuries past when dragons last took to the skies used their blood in many powerful spells and in the Iron Shade religion, a symbol of immortality as sacrificing a dragon could give multiple people immortality. In the Eldurn religion dragons of all shapes, forms and breeds have been seen as deity figures. legend saying that the great mother dragon gave birth deep in the heart of the planet, and from great eruptions her mighty children rose. From of fire, of ice, of salt and all between. The great Mothers children where to rule and protect the earth. But men have corrupt hearts, and in the greed for power they learned to fell the mighty dragon. No longer did men look to bond with and ride upon the backs of dragons, they looked to use them for blood magic, and to worship the great god of the Iron Shade religion. Of course it has been over five centuries since the last dragons had been seen. And for these past five hundred years it has been considered fact that dragons have become extinct. Relics of the past. It is said the great mother dragon took to her all the dragons that where left and forged them into stars, bringing them close to her bosom as people had become unworthy of the glory of dragons. Legends have long said that the mother left their world and became a part of the universe. But that one day she would fall from the heavens back to Eylantis and once again Dragons will rise upon mighty wings, stronger then and craftier than ever. Recently this prophecy has come to pass as upon the flight that crashed to earth the Great Mother fell along side the falling metal bird, awakening the dormant magic of dragons that have long been hidden in human, mortal forms, long forgotten to their heritage. With her fell the dragon lords - the first of her children. With them the great reawakening of powerful magics that haven't been felt this strongly upon Eylantis for over a thousand years. BLOODY CROWNS RPG

The aircraft shook violently by the hand of the mighty storm. Screams christening the ears of flight 193’s passengers. They cant tell if the screams are their own. Or the person next to them. The formidable black clouds inked out the light. As if they had closed a fateful hand around the aircraft. The only light left in the failing contraption was the harsh flash of lightening. Terror. Its thick in the air. Everyone’s heart is pounding with it. The horror of not knowing what’s up or down anymore as the metal bird spirals down from the heavens like a shot pigeon. Was this it? Was this how it would end for the two hundred and fifty four passengers of the flight? The craft shuddered – as if for a brief moment – a flicker in time – it paused. Then the force of the airplane slamming into the turning waves of the ocean. Some force of luck it landed on its belly, propelling it forward, cutting through the frightful waves of the storm. Panic. Not everyone made it. Lots of people are dead… And water is overtaking the vessel. In a rush the survivors of the crashed Flight 193 to Bermuda forget manage to escape the sinking metal trap only to be faced with angry waves. But their apparent salvation is in view. Barely in view – but still visible. Its land. An island. Its not hard to see because of distance. But the weather. So. In desperation they swim. More die. Those who crawl out of the raging waters think themselves lucky. Coughing and sputtering. Nothing left but fighting to breath and vomiting salt water. But as they drag their weary bodies further onto land they meet metal – metal shoes. What the hell?! Knights stand ashore waiting, as if expecting them. Horses stand behind them, drenched from rains and manes whipping in the cruel wind. Medieval looking barred carts lined up waiting. The knights move forward, grabbing all the survivors and locking them in the barred carts. They had survived the plane crash. But would they survive Eylantis?
