Weather Update

The good news?

The demo is technically ready to ship, though I'd really like to add one more scene. I've also discovered support for music.

I love making soundtracks. Would you guys like a soundtrack. Because I can and will make a soundtrack, it would just be way more synths than you'd probably expect for a medieval vampire story.

The bad news?

Cogdemos.ink won't allow me to make the game pink and it's so much more laggy than my usual methods. I had to totally rework my code because updating too many variables at once breaks the site. It's also super annoying to update batches of files because I have to manually delete EVERYTHING.

wonder if vampires swallow blood wrong sometimes. like yeah they don't need to breathe but it's still gonna suck innit? like they're getting their lil drinky on and want to deliver a devastating one liner to their victim so they pull away and half choke on a mouthful of blood. id turn to dust on the spot. i'd set myself on fire. i'd go to coffin and not leave for a decade.

Hey I just saw a post on reddit that Dashingdon may be going down soon, really like your IF thought you might need the warning.

Thank you for the concern. Luckily for me, I still have no fucking clue how to implement saves, and have been saving that for the tail end of the demo’s development. Dashingdon’s unfortunate shutdown won’t affect BBWW’s development time.

Oh! Are you spanish??

I’m Latina :) Not sure which one of my posts triggered this ask, but better time than any to establish the Spanish language in the IF!

For assimilation reasons, my mother never taught me Spanish or spoke it much around me. So I’m also learning my family’s language as I write this IF! It’s my “let’s see how much you can push yourself” project.

It would be lovely if any better Spanish speakers pointed out missed errors or helped with some of the harder translations. I’m not very proficient yet, so the amount of actual Spanish included will be proportional to how much I know/can corroborate.

As for the more detailed parts of the plot and romance routes, I’m a particularly tight lipped writer! I don’t think it’s as fun if y’all know everything before the demo is even out! (Especially since all bets are off with writing changes)

Yep! The 16 skills fall under 4 schools: Sophistication, Dominance, Viscera, and Appeal.

Sophistication:

Your worldliness and knowledge. You’d be hard pressed to survive the world without knowing who or what anything was, let alone thrive. 

Politics: Your understanding of political strategy and current events.

History: Your knowledge of past events and their implications.

Etiquette: Your knowledge of manners, customs, and social expectations.

Legal: Your understanding of law, contracts, and their use.

Dominance:

Your martial abilities and power of presence. It would be difficult to navigate society if no one believed you were capable of backing yourself up.

Build: Your constitution, fitness, and overall strength.

Blades: Your skill with bladed weapons such as swords or knives.

Ranged: Your capability with bows, crossbows, or other projectiles.

Intimidation: Your ability to convey your formidability to others.

Viscera:

Your attunement to the bodies of yourself and others, the most primitive parts of life. Living amongst vampires requires some element of the sanguine. 

Medicine: Your knowledge of healing, medicine, and poison.

Palette: Your ability to interpret the intricacies in blood and wine.

Cookery: Your knowledge of cooking and butchering.

Instinct: Your senses, intuitive observation, and sense of danger.

Appeal:

Your charisma and social skills. If you didn’t have any social intelligence in a world built on court intrigue, you’d be sorely out of luck. 

Seduction: Your sex appeal and execution of technique.

Psychoanalysis: Your ability to cold read others and understand their minds.

Diplomacy: Your negotiation and de-escalation ability.

Acting: Your capacity for deception and performance.

Schools form the bulk of your stat checks, but in order to upgrade them, you'll need to invest in some of the skills they're comprised of.

This can result in builds like "Rank 3 Dominance with high Build and Ranged, plus a random proficiency in Instinct." Some skills in unrelated schools can also interact with each other, so plan accordingly!

There’s lots of hidden routes to uncover in BBBBWWWW, so never take my word for it when I say there’s only a certain amount of options!

TBH it’s a little hard answering so many asks about the RO’s since this is a reactive political intrigue game. There’s no single way they can appear in your playthrough. In fact, the RO’s in the clans you didn’t choose will become your political enemies! (Doesn’t mean you can’t have proper relationships with them, they’ll just be…. Well, see for yourself once there’s more game.)

Each RO is related to one of three houses in a tense battle for power and influence. With the physical limitations of vampirism (discussed in the post on “Can Vampires Drink Nonhuman Blood?”), blood is an absolute necessity. Between an endless line of noble children and accidental thralls, there's only so many resources to be shared...

It depends a bit on which route you take, but you’ll always be attached to a noble house. You’re of some political importance.
