Eden was pissed but trying to not show it, shoving things down and ignoring them being her go to moves in most situations, “Well I did have a summer internship that was keeping me in all work and no play mode, but I just got fired so I need something to do, preferably that won’t land me in someone’s jail cell at the end of the night, I can figure that one out on my own, so any ideas?”
“Shit, you got fired? What for?” Ella didn’t clock that the question was probably inappropriate to ask. She wasn’t living the most traditional life so the world of internships and 9 to 5′s was somewhat fascinating to her. “The options are work or jail? There has to be a middle of the road option.”

“My love, like I would ever lie to you.” Solange let her best friend know with a shake of her head. “That was flawless.” She said, just in complete happiness. Because with every flawless take, they were one step closer to releasing that album they’d worked for hard to get out into the world. “Well, you know, it was easy or whatever.” Solange joked, if only to make Ella laugh.
“Yeah it was easy or whatever.” Ella laughed, rolling her eyes as she leaned into her friend. They were getting so close to the end of the album she could almost taste the champagne at their release party. “Honestly you do have that effortless flow so maybe it actually was easy or whatever. If we got it with that last take, are we done for today? I could keep going but I’m getting hungry.”

“No cause look how you ate that,” Solange let Ella know with a snap of her fingers. “that was out of this world!” She said, the smile on her face only growing brighter. The girls were currently laying down vocals, hard at work on their upcoming album and the vocals that Ella was providing were the ones. “I don’t know about y'all, but I think those were the vocals we needed.” Solange told their producers. ( @birdiestratford )
Ella grinned as she took in the compliment from Solange. Listening to the playback she had to admit her friend wasn’t wrong. They were at the top of their game today. Nothing was coming out pitchy or off-beat. “Damn I’m not gonna hold you, that did sound pretty good. You laid it down though, it’s not hard to riff off a foundation like that.” She looked to their producers for confirmation of Solange’s words.

Ella laughed again at the dismissal. She knew Daphne well enough not to read into her tone but she shot a pitying look at the guy who was now stumbling away with his electrolytes mumbling incoherent words to himself. "The blob? That's the one that you get shot up into the air on right? Maybe... It could be fun but I also want to watch to make sure no one gets close to the shore with that trajectory. I can't afford to be in a back brace. Solange will kill me if I push back our recording schedule."
Sometimes Daphne's tendency to be straightforward could come off a little skewed even if her intentions were never to be outright mean about it. She was an over thinker though, head always full of a million tings to be done. If she could learn how to relax it might be the smartest thing she'd ever done. "Be gone," she passed the powerade over and made a scooting motion with her hand. "Anyway, as I was saying– I'm trying to get at least one shot on the blob before this day is over. You in?"

“You know, I have that very mentality.” Yves said with a laugh, pointing at his eyes and then at her own as they very much were sharing a brain in that moment. “Actually, not that you mention it—” He said, holding his hand out for his shirt. “Well, it’s not so much a trip, as it is just my life now. Yeah, Rosewood was great and all, but have you ever noticed how some people get stuck here, doing the same thing day in and out, talking to the same people about the same things?” He asked Ella with a shake of his head. “That just couldn’t be me. So I’ve really enjoyed Paris and the fact that I have a life outside of here, but it is nice to come back to it every so often. I mean, not everywhere has this.” Yves said, referring to the fact they were literally a event where a number of their contemporaries were playing their own music. Some of that music which was actually charting out in the world.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.” Ella laughed easily as she handed him back his shirt. “Thanks for being a gentleman, though. That behavior was noted and much appreciated. “Have I noticed? It’s literally my worst nightmare. Thank god for SHE or I might be one of them.” Her eyes widened in faux horror at the thought. “It’s nice of you to stop by and visit now and then. You’re right, though. The hometown pride for Rosewood is so strong. I don’t know anywhere else that draws in names this big consistently. It’s no Paris but it’s a little something special.”

Yves took in the sight of both of her opinions, his lips twisting as he considered which one would be best for Ella. “You know, and I don’t say this selfishly but, I think opinion one was perfectly fine.” He said, deciding that her shirt looked pretty great as a skirt. “But feel free to keep the shirt, I suppose it was time to ditch it as well. We are here to enjoy the lake.” He told her, looking over at the hoards enjoying the waters behind them. “And the company isn’t all that bad.”
“I was thinking the same thing. I think it’s time for me to show everyone what they won’t be touching and stop hiding under that shirt. I should be thanking you for that spill.” She laughed, now just being ridiculous but not caring. “Are you sure you don’t want to hang onto this? You might get cold later. But no, while the sun’s out we should be as minimally clothed as possible and enjoy the lake and the company. You have to finish telling me about your trip.”

Yves felt so bad, he’d genuinely enjoyed Ella’s company so to be the catalyst for why she was soaked at that moment and time was a terrible feeling. “I know, I know. I mean, it’s not and again, I am so sorry, but, I know.” He let her know as she spoke. “Well, please, by all means, feel free to take mine if you happen to need a cover up.” Yves let her know, as he made quick work of removing his shirt to hand over if she so needed it. “It’s Off-White so at least you know it’s worth while.” He said, jokingly.
Clothes at a lake party weren't entirely necessary but she did like the outfit she'd put together. She was already wearing an open oversized button-down shirt with cutoff jeans. It wasn't a huge change to wrap the shirt around her waist and just let her bathing suit top shine. "You tell me. Honest opinion, which looks better?" She wrapped her shirt around to show option one and then put his shirt on for option two. "I trust your opinion more than most."

"That's not real. Is it?" Her eyes widened subtly but the concept of nature being able to literally communicate with humans was both exciting and terrifying. She'd never heard of it before. "I know trees communicate through their roots with each other so it stands to reason that all plants can communicate with each other but they can tell us things like when they're in distress from a murder? Kenzo you are blowing my mind." She laughed as he spun her around. "Fun and music? And community, I guess. Always community."
"Nature is sentient, in it's own way, at least I believe so anyway. When I was little one of my moms told me about this story she heard once about these plants that witnessed a murder and their testimony convicted the murder. Like the leaves were hooked up to these crazy machines and it measured the plants' distress. When I was older I looked into it more and there's truth in plants having means of communicating with each other and even emotions. Nature is alive, Ella. Oh, I'm Kenzo." He introduced himself while he spun her around, "I'm glad to meet you. That's why I love festivals, man. Just a bunch of people more or less here for the same thing."

"That's two different topics though, isn't it? Kindness is always a good thing. But nature exists regardless of our thoughts. It's so much bigger than us. I try not to be negative too I think that's a good life philosophy and practice in general." She laughed and held her hands up to accept the compliment. "I'm Ella. You're a very interesting stranger too....?" She dragged out the last word so he'd fill in the blank with his own name. She didn't miss a beat, taking his hand and letting him spin her around.
"That's good I like what you're saying but a small kindness even from a grain of sand could matter. And even if it doesn't, I try not to be negative, but damn, I like how your mind works, what's your name. You're a very interesting stranger. Great minds, let's just keep letting out bodies do our thing." After a bit in the song, Kenzo held his hand out for Ella to take, intending to spin her around if she'd allow it; something about her told him that she'd be an excellent twirler.

"But like you said, you're just a small grain of sand in the ecosystem. Billions of other grains of sand love that food for everything it does and exactly what it is. Why does your opinion matter so much to that food? It exists and does it's thing whether you approve or not." Under different circumstances Ella could have laughed at how she sounded right now. He was easy to talk to in a way that surprised her. "You look like the type to have a signature move. I don't have one either I just go with whatever the music is doing." The music was currently a bouncy pop song so Ella let go and started dancing without worrying about being seen or judged.
"I don't know, a food has spent years cultivating what it will taste like, and here I am, some guy, small grain of sand in the ecosystem rejecting all of that work." Kenzo grinned at the question, " I don't know, can you believe I never thought about a signature move? I just do whatever feels right like..." He started to dance again, and true to his word just did what felt right without him thinking about it much, "Do you have a signature move?"

“Well yeah, but I want to respect the coconut and all of it’s contributions to society.”
“not liking the taste of a food isn’t disrespecting it. I think you’re allowed to say you don’t like something while also honoring it’s positives.” She finished off her popsicle and tucked the tick beneath the fabric on her hip so she wouldn’t liter. “Now, we were dancing right? What’s your signature move?”

“There are exceptions to every rule you got me there, but I don’t plan on doing anything that would be featured in a true crime doc, do you?” Kenzo could appreciate how friendly this girl was, it was always a toss up on what kinds of people you’d meet and he preferred to be pleasantly surprised, “Nah, I’m allergic to coconut. Well not like I get sick, like my taste buds are. Not very receptive to the flavor you know?”
“Not today,” she shrugged, pulling the most innocent face she could. “So... you don’t like coconut? Is that what you’re saying?”

“This is the first aid tent, not a bar. I know it can be confusing given my being a Coyote and all but…” Daphne had volunteered her time at the first aid tent (because what even was the concept of free time?), and glanced up from the supplies she was organising to observe the person who had entered. “Sorry, bedside manner. Are you hurt?”
Ella choked on her laugh as she shook up a water bottle with liquid IV for the person she was helping. Daphne didn’t mince her words and it never failed to amuse. The person was indeed drunk and looking for another drink and not hurt. “Here,” she handed a powerade to her. “Tell them it’s a nutcracker and they’ll be on their way.”

"You might have a point there. Doing is usually better than watching. Maybe not in the case of something they could make a true crime documentary out of but dancing, yeah." Ella closed the space between them and started moving to the music. "Spiked pina colada, want some?"
"You don't need to be sorry and I always think that doing is better than watching, but you gotta do what feels good to you, right? I can't stop though, this song is special. What kind of popsicle is that?"

Ella didn't realize she'd been watching him but he called her out ruthlessly. She coughed out a soft laugh and held up a hand toward him. "My bad, sorry. I was thinking about it but I'm enjoying this popsicle and show a bit too much right now."
"Don't think I don't feel you looking at me." Kenzo said to the person who had been watching him vibe to the song playing almost the entire time, "This could be you. You just have to move. I guarantee you it's more fun than being a spectator."
