Ok, I'm in the middle of episode 7 but almost done watching it and... wtf. I still want to watch the rest of act 3, but I'm losing will to do so. Seriously.

I already feared where this was going in the beginning of this episode and feel like a huge chunk of valuable screen time is being wasted for some AU shipping fantasy? Don't get mad at me for not liking Jinx/Ekko because I don't hate them, but I just don't see any kind of chemistry between them. Also seeing Jinx being in a romantic relationship in Arcane series is off-putting because... just, why is this necessary for her character arc.

I'm sorry but I'm so frustrated with writers right now. Act 2 ended in such a dramatic, tragic, heavy moment and I was looking forward to how they're gonna pick it up in episode 7 and I'm sure it's gonna happen if I keep watching. But I'm just sitting here and wondering why I have to watch Jinx and Ekko flirting, dancing in slow-mo, and kissing.......

And if I say Arcane Season 2 is a textbook example of why creators should stay in their bubble, stick to the script and not let fan reception and opinions dictate how they write the rest of their show?

arcane s2 really said “look parallels! :)” and thought that was enough commentary for the year. jayce breaking his leg didn’t mean anything. “omg look it’s just like when viktor—“ shut up! it is NOT like when viktor got cancer and spent most of his life in poverty. that was the cheapest most unnecessary thing to take up so much time in an episode. “but it shows that jayce understood” jayce understood nothing more than what he understood when viktor was on his deathbed. jayce understands the exact same amount as he did when he was crying to mel about viktor dying in s1. it’s just a waste of time. a broken leg isn’t cancer bffr. showing similar shots of things that happened in a better season doesn’t mean anything. noticing parallels is not analysis. showing parallels alone is not commentary. if those were supposed to be commentary, they were agonizingly dumb.

Assessing the quality of Arcane season 2 is weird because it's a profound, massive downgrade from season 1. But season 1 was nearly perfect television so that leaves S2 still significantly above average.

Okay, for those of us who, like me, were disappointed with Season 2 of Arcane, what do you think it would have taken to make it a good follow-up? I did feel like I was bracing for some disappointment, knowing that the second season would be really hard to pull off—especially when it comes to Vi and Jinx's relationship. It would have been so easy to just keep spinning them around, constantly fighting each other to the point where one almost dies, without ever truly resolving their issues. So, what’s the “fix”/resolution you were hoping for?

when I say “I wish Caitlyn’s actions were more directly addressed” I don’t mean I wish the show had someone directly say “omg maybe police brutality is bad”

I mean that the there should have been consequences in the story for her actions. We should have seen how it affected zaunites and the relationship between the two cities. There should have been cause and effect. Setup and payoff. Instead of the story mostly skipping ahead to other plots.

By not showing the nuances affects of Caitlyn’s actions, it does inadvertently make it feel like she got off with a slap on the wrist, or at the very least that her rlly well set up dissent into a military dictatorship had no real affect on the story/finale.

Even if most people are just joking, it bothers me when other people actually think it's all due to a failed relationship when the problem is actually bigger than that. Vi getting to this point isn't because she broke up with Caitlyn. She has bigger, more difficult things going on than just a failed relationship. Adding to that the most painful factor for Vi is when she fights Jinx, which is one of the factors that really affects her. She went from being protective of her sister to "hurting" her sister.

Caitlyn was the one who got Vi out of prison, She got her out of the worst place Vi had ever been in. And Caitlyn was the last person Vi could trust and now she's gone.

I mean you can see she wasn't that miserable when she was in prison because she said herself, "The only thing that kept me going, was the thought of getting back to you." Now her sister is gone and Caitlyn is gone, the only two people left in her life. It's only natural that she would come to this point after literally losing everything.

Vi now has no hope no purpose and no one left after all the people she's lost along the way. It's really hard for Vi.
