There’s actually a whole episode about robots being free thinking people. Bender argues in court that he doesn’t technically have free will and shouldn’t be held legally responsible for the actions he was preprogrammed to make. Then there’s a visual gag where the robot judge is forced to say, “not guilty.” Bender goes on a whole spiritual journey about how free he really is if he doesn’t have the ability to make decisions for himself and ends up acquiring the only robotic free will unit ever made. Bender is physically incapable of putting the free will unit in himself and has to have the professor do it for him. Both legally and physically the choices of the robots were never theirs to make (excluding bender after this episode).

(also they actually do explain why robots can reproduce, and you’re correct about how it’s motivated by capitalism. Robots making their own robots lowers the materials cost of the manufacturer and allows for enough production to “meet demand.”)

the robots in futurama are so fucking funny. they aren't male or female because they are machines instead of biological organisms (there's even that snu snu episode in which bender avoids a death sentence by arguing he's not a man) but some of them have two half spheres drilled onto their chests and others arguably have toxic masculinity and there are fembots and manbots and they just, like, LARP human gender roles. these things are free from the confines of meat and sex and they choose to have gender anyway. it's so fucked up

i 3d modeled a salmon run map that came to me in a dream that sucked absolute ass to play on. it was called "spawning smokeyard" as though it was a hybrid of the other two maps but it just kind of sucked. this was the only tide level.
