2/2 Read below for more info and other character backstories
ONCE AGAIN THERE ARE LITERALLY SO MANY TWS HERE, SO SO SO MANY. THE DOVE IS DEADING. THE DOVE IS DECOMPOSING. THE DOVE TURNED INTO OIL.
Marius: From a young age Marius' parents pass due to an illness and he gets adopted by a rich family. He becomes especially close to one Victor Denathria and treats him like a brother. Each of them get private tutors, but they never teach about anything unsavory in the eyes of Lathander. This is especially unfortunate, because at the age of 16 Victor grows ill, and at his request Marius files for emancipation and leaves the household in search of a way to help him. Marius finds a job in catering for an elaborate company that doesn't even seem to care about his status, they barely ask for any identification when they let Marius onto their staff. It is during this time that Marius finds a woman who seems to really like him, but before he can ask for her proper name she hands him a drink and urges him to take a sip. So he does, he takes a sip, and another, and another, and then he's downed the bottle, and then suddenly everything goes fuzzy. He panics the next morning as he wakes up naked in the bed of a woman who only lets him calm her the Duchess. He doesn't like admitting how long he stayed with her until he finally got the courage to leave and continue on his search for someone to help his brother, he's trying to find a source when one Phillip Druskenvald reaches out to him.
Farryn: She lives in a closeted community in the middle of nowhere, a place where she is taught the old ways and is forced to learn only what she's given, unfortunately the old ways involved a lot of unsavory taboos like necrophilia. That is of course until she and Gwenna started to really get to know each other. Against the wishes of the community they grew closer and closer. It didn't matter to Farryn how many times they tried to beat her love out of her, because at the end of the day Gwenna and her always found each other. It started when they were twelve and still learning what these feelings were for each other. A puppy crush that they thought ended when they kissed. Then they grew older and were told that sex exists and is wrong to do outside of procreation or ascending rituals. When they were fourteen they explored each other's bodies. When they were fifteen they officially lost their virginity and started to learn how to properly have sex. It wasn't always the safest, but until Gwenna and Farryn were 19 they didn't want it any other way. Both girls now women had plans to run away, neither of them ever having participated in the "ascending" rituals, neither of them having committed necrophilia or killed more than animals. Then Gwenna died, and Farryn wasn't even allowed to go to her funeral. Farryn was beaten bloody and blue for sullying Gwenna's purity. Farryn wept, but knew that Gwenna's corpse would be left alone for two days after the funeral. Farryn snuck in, and was nearly willing to throw away her ideals just to feel Gwenna one more time. She didn't, she instead stole the scriptures and ran away in the middle of the night. She's halfway through interpreting Gorthos' words herself when she gets the letter.
Briggsy: Now, Captain Kratch was your average urchin boy, a skin disease wrecking havoc on his body and not a single bone in him that didn't urge him to survive. He committed simple crimes, snuck into bars, scammed people out of their money, and by the gods did crime ever get a rush out of him. The adrenaline was addicting, so he started to amp up what he did. He would properly hurt people. Properly break things. Eventually he got even deeper into it, started flitting through different gangs, he found he liked feeling in power very quickly, so he took a leap into the deepend and made a proposition to Mr. Crossroads himself. Crossroads was said to be the puppet master of the crime world, so when a young, easily manipulated, coward like Briggsy came up to him begging for power, he was quick to say yes. He began to do even bigger crimes, formed his own gang with people Crossroads sent him, his name was feared, but of course it all came at a price. Be it the trauma or stress of too many jobs, too much gunpowder, too much everything, Briggsy started to lose his sense of taste and smell. Some days his sense of touch also seemed so distant. It was proper torture, especially since Crossroads was starting to ignore his calls. Luckily, Briggsy got a letter that promised to solve all his problems should he go to this stupid camp.

I guess I have no choice than for part 4 of my Camp Druskenvald au to be angsty horrible dead dove filled trauma backstories for all the eom gang
Now here's the cliffnotes for those who are uncomfy reading things written out in a semi-detailed way, for those who aren't expect a post featuring my first ever fanfic ig soon
SO MANY TW'S BELOW. NONE OF IT IS DESCRIBED BUT A LOT OF IT IS MENTIONED. INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Attempted Forced Incest, Child manipulation, S/A, Cults, Human trafficking, and MORE
Jericho: Sexually abused, manipulated, and neglected by 3 murderous sisters who heavily implanted unhealthy ideas into Jericho's mind. This included incest, which they tried to force Jericho into when they got Virgil. Virgil of course, was having none of this and told Jericho the hags didn't love him without correcting a majority of the ideas implanted into him. Jericho to this day has no idea what S/A is, but he does know siblings are not supposed to be in a relationship. Anyways, Jericho then is taken with Virgil into his adoptive father's (Pazuzu's) manor where Jericho is further neglected to the point he experiences several periods of starvation, only ever eating the food Virgil manages to get to him. Pazuzu calls Jericho Virgil's pet, Virgil never disagrees in front of his father, but does grow attached to Jericho enough to consider him his brother. Eventually Virgil has had enough and runs away with Jericho, where they are constantly on the run, commit several crimes including cannibalism, kill the Okum sisters, and live life through borderline homelessness until the letter from Camp Druskenvald arrives
Lethica: She lives a fairly normal life until the age of 15, where she gets married in order to escape her parents. The bad part of this? The guy she's married to is in a cult. Lethica tries to see past it, she really does, because she loves this man. Loves him more than anything. She would've had his kids if the cult he was a part of didn't burn down their house with him inside. He didn't make it, but it is through his death that Lethica discovers Strygga. Lethica is a devout follower of this new religion, and come her 17th birthday she's already deep in a ploy to destroy the cult her husband was in from the inside out. She feels like she loses herself along the way, and does many unsavory things to keep up her illusion, including murder, stealing, sacrificing some of her best friends, and more. She goes to the camp when the letter comes because the cult believes Lethica will find the object that will save them.
Yorgrim: When Yorgrim was younger, he idolized the head of his village. He helped him with anything he asked, including managing the graveyard. How could Yorgrim not? Everyone loved the village head, loved his jokes, his caring nature, every single little thing. He idolizes the man so much that he gets taken under his wing. The man makes Yorgrim build muscle mass, makes him learn separately from the other kids, isolates Yorgrim from everyone but the village head himself. Yorgrim doesn't care though, because he's told that one day he will be the next village head, he will have the responsibility of taking care of everyone here. What Yorgrim doesn't know, is that as he gets older the village head uses him to do dirty work. Uses him to make openings for drug and human trafficking. It isn't until the day Yorgrim is bound up and forced to watch as the people of his small village are carted away does he realize this. It isn't until Yorgrim is read what each individual person will be going through does he snap. It isn't until he kills the village head with nothing but his grave-digging-shovel does he let the guilt set in.
This is getting long so 1/2

You. You get me.
Should I be working on my au? Yes. Yes I should, but first let me go on another Jericho rant
So, Coal Eyed Birds, we know that song right? All hail The Blasting Company for making it because AHHHHHHH IT'S SO SO SO GOOD
Anyways this is to shout out one of my favorite lyrics that I think works for post metamorphosis Jericho so well:
"You've never met a threat as empty as me"
It's a great line in the song! But even better for Jericho, it's a *PUN*
A self deprecating and threatening one, but a pun nonetheless
The joke is that Jericho sees himself as just that, empty, void, nothing. An empty threat is a threat that doesn't get fulfilled, it's words said just to be said, which you could argue is what the hags made Jericho to be. They wanted him to be seen as an empty threat, and in doing so seeing him as not a threat at all because he would never hurt anyone.
Now though Jericho is a threat, he's willing to kill, he's wanted to kill, and so the pun
I feel like I'm not doing it justice but someone please tell me you see what I'm seeing here because JERICHO AHDUSJSJSM

Hi this is Paw with more ideas WRT the regency AU. I think Lethica should have the AESTHETIC of a despot but actually be very fair and just and kind and it is Doing Things to Marius. Like what if she was a despot...to HIM? Haha jk. Unless?
This is the miracle of au's my friend, where two branches stem from one path.
On one, Marius and Lethica have a power imbalance but otherwise kind and fair relationship
On the other Queen Lethica is the Duchess and Marius' favorite color is red :)

You make me wanna sit down and actually commit to writing fanfiction. How dare you.
@pawpunkao3 this is your fault >:(
EOM Regency Au anyone?
No I don't know anything about actual historical regency stuff, shut up this is my tapestry to weave
Featuring:
Queen Lethica: She became Queen through totally legal means and not faking a religion and manipulating the previous queen into a secret relationship before forming a coup and taking the throne
Court Jester Jericho: He's here, he's probably queer, it's our favorite wet cat man, Jericho. Lethica found this urchin through the candidate for her advisor, she was enamoured with his silly little songs and jokes and decided she wanted to keep him.
Royal Advisor Virgil/Raum: He's along for the ride, free from his father, Grand Duke Pazuzu, and making sure his charity case (brother) doesn't go getting himself killed.
Honorary Count Briggsy: Lethica and him have a deal, he gets to enjoy high society, she gets someone to control the criminal underworld
Executioner Yorgrim: He's here to kill criminals and atome for his past. Lethica is helping him get a leg up in life.
Royal Doctor Farryn: Who else to play doctor than our resident Satyr? She's here because Lethica promises to fund her research into the illness that took her wife from her
And last but not least, Royal Guard Marius: Marius was a gift from one King Victor, Lethica accepted him with open arms as Victor was forced to walk away from his brother forever. Definitely no forbidden love happening here! No matter how much Lethica likes seeing her *PERSONAL* knight on his knees ;)

110%
Lethica sees Marius for the first time and sends extra support to Victor, as a show of approval of course.
Definitely not because this new knight is cute or anything.
Definitely not.

A mix of the last two! Victor gets to live in this au because Lethica's kingdom helps support his with proper military backing that people are intimidated by
Double edged sword for Victor though, because now he owes her his life. Typically alliances are done between kingdoms with arranged marriages, but neither of them have kids nor want to be married to each other, so Victor sends his most *ahem* capable knight.

GIMME A MINUTE TO MAKE A POST NOW
On a much lighter note. A scenario I've been picturing is Marius offhandedly mentioning that part of the duties of a good knight is to. Ahem. Service their royals. And his friends are like What. You had sex with King Victor? And Marius is like no no no sex is dirty and makes me feel worthless, assisting my King always made me feel good :) and they're like Holy Shit.

This one is canon to me and now absolutely makes me think that Lethica hears this and is like "Oh? A way to entice Marius into sex without giving him a panic attack?"
Cue only Farryn (the most knowledgeable about sex culture after Lethica. Don't get me started on Briggsy and Yorgrim's sex knowledge.) clocking The Look and ushering everyone to leave the crooked manor for the night ("Sleepover with Maggie!!! Lets go!! Lethica, Marius, can you watch the house?")

I'M SORRY I CAN'T HELP IT I HAD TO MAKE IT WORSE
Guys what if King Victor sent Marius off in search of the Grail not because he thought it would help, but because he knew if Marius stayed he would die for his King and country and he loved him too much to let that happen. To be the reason his best friend died. What if that.

*Sighs*
When Marius returned and talked about the duchess and was visibly showing vampiric symptoms, King Victor didn't want Marius to die and sent him away
But Marius wouldn't go for anything, no, his newfound vampirism made him want to work even harder to find the grail, and it wasn't even for him, it was for Victor. It was so Victor didn't die. He found himself sullied, beyond saving, dirty, impure- even if Lathander himself didn't think so, Marius had no way to know because Lathander's powers were very limited as it were for his paladin who was not even a cleric. Who's bond was only to Lathander through Victor.
Victor knew he was ill, knew he was dying, and knew that his weakness would be taken advantage of. He sends Marius off for the grail, an artifact that holds no meaning to Victor himself other than a folk tale.
Victor was on death's door long before the kingdom fell.
In the grail we see the kingdom in ruins, Victor long since becoming bones with a spear impaling him on his throne
We also know Marius was out on battlefields, helping soldiers heal or pass on without judgement, but he was there for centuries. Centuries too long. Victor died almost immediately after Marius left. The kingdom was in ruins.
Victor didn't tell Marius why he sent him away other than to look for a miracle, said that Marius could not stay by his side.
Marius lives thinking Victor died in disgust, Victor died being sullied by Marius' own filth.
Guys what if King Victor sent Marius off in search of the Grail not because he thought it would help, but because he knew if Marius stayed he would die for his King and country and he loved him too much to let that happen. To be the reason his best friend died. What if that.
