The tin dredge named "Sri Banting Dredge" was built in 1974 and ceased on 1997 with weight of 4,900 tones, bucket capacity of 623 litres flooting on the 282ft. pontoon and with maximum 30 meter digging capability. For a close encounter with tin dredge, one has to travel to Tanjung Taulang, Gopeng Perak. With this Sri Banting Dredge and Tanjung Taulang T.T No.5 is one of the two remaining floating tin dredge in entire Malaysia. What's most unfortunate is how quick Malaysia were distance ourselves from the tin legacy. While, T.T. No.5 is look in safe sound after Perak Government turn it into museum, the fate of Sri Banting still uncertain. It can any time missing from our Malaysia soil. Malaysia National Heritage Department should step foward by buy the dredge (currently the dredge is avilable for sale to anyone in the world), preserve or it can be transfered to Putrajaya Lake for showcase.
