Returning to the gesture warm-up routine! Well, the sketchbook routine in general. Here are some recent scans.

Etudesday - About Working With Color
While in design school, l learned how to draw in a very methodical way. I’m grateful for that experience because it balanced out my own more scattered sensibilities as an artist. That said, I think by leaning as hard as I did on that method, I may have overcorrected, stifling the part of myself that just wants to mess around with art and see what happens. There is a reward to that irreplaceable mileage. Not to mention, it makes creation fulfilling.

Etudesday - 202006 eyez
Happy Etudesday! I’d like to renew a personal tradition that I kept to either complete or share an etude (aka study) on Tuesday. If you want to join me in that tradition, let me know about it! I’d love to have a look at your work and drop a kind comment.
Here’s a throwback to some tshirt fold studies that I did during the 2020 lockdown. I had a lot of nervous energy to channel creatively. At least I can look back on them now and think about how much it helps to make etudes more entertaining.

2024 BIPOC Gaming Professionals Celebration & Panel
Come meet me and many other great folks TOMORROW! It will be hosted at Genies, one of the previous companies I’ve had the pleasure to work with. I will be at the door as a volunteer, welcoming folks and helping them get checked in and comfortable for the festivities ahead.
Some more information about this mixer from the site:
The intent is to gather folks who have experienced any amount of time in games--indie or AAA dev, esports, research, tech, or anything adjacent. Whether you've been in the industry a while or have churned, this event welcomes you.
I believe today is the last day to order tickets online, don’t delay! Know that Support Buff funds all of these events through income from these ticket sales. If you’re experiencing any kind of financial hardship that prevents you from buying the full ticket price, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me or Iris for assistance.

Astropad Slate
Some digital artists may remember working with an intuos tablet and a laptop. Cintiqs may feel more natural and like drawing on paper, but working with the more typical drawing tablet set-up is much more ergonomic.
That's the reason why I'm interested in the Astropad Slate. t allows you to use your ipad as an input device for your mac, which gives you another option to work with if going shrimp-mode over your iPad starts causing you pain on the go.

I opened up an a6 plain paper moleskine for looser drawings of whatever's around. the intention here is that I have something super portable to reach for instead of my phone during idle moments outside. accompanied by some clearance crayola markers, inspired by my longtime friend Austin ✨
