Hey there! You may have seen a preview of this outfit on my Instagram and I wanted to share more details from this super casual look. You’ll notice throughout this shoot that my head is down the whole time... That’s because it was such a lazy day that I didn’t even bother putting on makeup or contacts! Nevertheless, I love this look so much because of the cozy fabrics and simplistic color palette. I’m obsessed with the roll neck on this sweater - it really helps keep me warm! I’ve also developed a small affection for baseball hats recently and thought this simple wine colored one added the perfect pop of color to this outfit. {Throwback:} Modeling in College Fashion Week 2016

On September 24, 2016, I has the pleasure of being a model in Her Campus Media’s College Fashion Week Boston at Space 57 in the Revere Hotel! This was my third time attending the show, but my first time as a model, and I absolutely loved every second of it. Keep reading for all the details about my experience!

THE HAIR & MAKEUP

A team of hair and makeup artists helped us primp before the show. The hair team was from the Drybar, and I ordered “the Cosmo-Tai.” The makeup look was meant to be natural, yet bold enough to stand out under the bright lights. I had not had someone else do my hair and makeup in a very long time, but I certainly did not mind being pampered!

THE FASHION

The show was split into four mini shows, each featuring pieces from a different clothing sponsor. I loved all of my looks and felt super confident walking down the runway! Check them out below.

Show 1: Study Chic featuring My Social Canvas

This look was probably my favorite. It’s totally my style! I loved the layering involved (the skirt is actually a dress) and how well the accessories tied everything together. I totally wanted to take the jacket and boots home with me!

Show 2: Festival featuring Foray Collective designer VICI

This second look also really spoke to my personal style. The scarf is my absolute favorite color for fall and the jeans were beyond comfy. I also was obsessed with these peep-toe booties. I’d always been skeptical about that style, but they looked great with this outfit. I was actually able to keep the off-the-shoulder top as a gift and I can’t wait to wear it this summer!

Show 3: Rush featuring Ali & Ariel and Frill Clothing

While this show was a little out of my element because my school doesn’t have Greek life, it was still fun to put on this super cute and casual rush look. I also enjoyed giving the Vince Camuto boots another walk down the runway!

Show 4: Girls Night Out featuring Bow & Drape

This Bow & Drape sweatshirt was definitely one of my favorites. I mean, give me something we sequins on it and I’ll wear it in a heartbeat! I was also in love with the Vince Camuto heels I wore with this look. I love the new lace-up trend and the fringed tassels were a nice added touch.

THE PERKS

Besides being about to put “model” on my resume, there were a few other perks that came with participating in the show. The first was the opportunity to have our brows done before the show at the #Browfection Brow Bar sponsored by European Wax Center. Gotta have the strong brow game!

Another perk were the extremely generous swag bags. I loved comparing colors of our gifted Essie Nail Polish with my fellow models. We also received a Fit Bit Flex 2, which we modeled throughout the show. Strutting your stuff in fashion show will certainly help you get your steps up!

Also included in the goodie bags was a free blowout from the Drybar. I’m saving that for a special occasion!

I also was able to keep the watch wore in the show from Bertha Watches. It is insanely beautiful and I can’t stop staring at my wrist whenever I wear it!

THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE

I had such an amazing time modeling in College Fashion Week Boston 2016. To go from a regular attendee two years ago to a VIP attendee last year to a model this year has been a really cool journey. I feel so lucky to be involved with Her Campus Media and get the opportunity to go to amazing events like this. I can’t wait to see what the show will be like next year!

Clarisonic Mia 2: The Skincare Dream

Hey there! Today I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the Clarisonic Mia 2 Facial Sonic Cleansing Brush. This is a sponsored post in partnership with Clarisonic and Her Campus Media, but all words and opinions are my own!

Because of my membership in the Her Campus InfluenceHer Collective, I was given the opportunity to test out the new Clarisonic Mia 2 device. After using it for the past month, I can say in all honesty that it’s pretty amazing. I had always wanted to try a Clarisonic device, as I have struggled with skincare issues since early high school, and it definitely did not disappoint. THE BASICS:

The Clarisonic Mia 2 Sonic Cleansing Device features two speeds (delicate and universal) suitable for all skin types. With a timer that quickly pulses to indicate when it’s time to move to another part of your face, you can have cleaner, softer, smoother skin in just 60 seconds a day.

WHAT COMES IN THE BOX:

The Clarisonic Deep Pore Mia 2 set includes a Mia 2 device, a Deep Pore Brush Head, protective travel case, Mia 2 user guide, Deep Pore Daily Cleanser, Deep Pore Detoxifying Clay Mask and charger.

The inside of the box features a description of the device and products inside, the instructions for the two-step cleansing solution for enlarged pores and oily skin, and an illustration of how the Deep Pore system refines the size of your pores.

The first thing you pull out of the box is the Mia 2 user guide. This is a manual that includes all of the specific instructions and guidelines for properly using the Mia 2 device. It discusses the features of the device, how to charge it, how to care for it, and important safeguards to keep in mind when using the device.

The next item is the protective travel case that the Mia 2 device comes in. I like storing my device in this case once it’s dry even at home to protect it from germs. It’s super convenient and awesome to take on the go too!

Inside is the device itself, which comes with a plastic cap to further protect the bristles. Since this is the Deep Pore kit, the device comes with a Deep Pore Brush Head attached.  Recommended for all skin types with enlarged pores, the Clarisonic Deep Pore Brush Head is designed with graduated dual-action bristles to rid clogged pores of oil and debris.

The first product that comes in this kit is the Deep Pore Daily Cleanser. This cleanser is designed to help control oil and refine large pores. It is sulfate- and paraben-free and contains Fruit Acid Trio which chemically exfoliates and loosens pore-clogging dead skin cells.

The second product is the Deep Pore Detoxifying Clay Mask. This has natural botanical ingredients combined with kaolin and bentonite clays to gently remove impurities from pores and reveal smoother, softer looking skin. It includes 2% hydroxy acids to help remove dead skin cells and detoxify pores.

The last thing in the box is a charger. The Clarisonic Mia and Mia 2 devices are rechargeable with the Universal Voltage Charger, which magnetically attaches to the handle. Once the device is fully charged, it is good for 24 minutes of use (or 12 days if you use it twice a day) .

HOW YOU USE IT:

To use the device, first remove any eye makeup and lipstick by hand. I like to remove all of my face makeup using a makeup wipe to keep the brush cleaner. Then wet your skin and the brush with warm water. I make sure to really soak the brush then shake out any excess water so it won’t drip from the device during cleansing.

Next, liberally apply the Deep Pore Daily Cleanser (or any cleanser) to the brush head. You can also apply cleanser to your skin first then use the brush to work in, but I like to apply it directly to the brush.

Then push the On/Off button and select the speed you want to use. I usually go for the low or delicate speed because my skin can be a little sensitive. The brush uses a one-minute T-timer that pauses momentarily to tell you when to move to another part of the face. I love this feature, as it allows me to thoroughly cleanse my whole face. It’s set to indicate 20 seconds on your chin/nose, 20 seconds on your forehead, and 10 seconds on each cheek. You can also pause the cycle if need be.

The Detoxifying Mask is intended to be used twice weekly. You apply a thin layer to damp skin, let dry for 10-15 minutes, then use the device to remove. The brush head helps to loosen dead skin cells and decongest pores. I really like the tingling clean feeling it gives while it’s drying and how smooth my skin feels after!

RESULTS:

The results I’ve experienced after using the device pretty consistently for the past month have been great. My skin feels and looks smoother. I’ve noticed a decrease in the size of the pores around my nose as well. I’ve always had huge pores in that area and to see them getting smaller is really promising! The products have not completely quelled my breakouts, but I’ve struggled with acne for a while and have found a Benzol Peroxide wash is the only thing that can minimize my pimples. I did start using one of my Benzol Peroxide cleansers with the device and it definitely enhances its effectiveness. 

I would highly recommend the Mia 2 to anyone who has been looking for the secret to their skin troubles. While Clarisonic devices are on the pricier side, they are well-worth the investment in my opinion. The Mia 2 is actually one of their least expensive devices, and you can use the code HERCAMPUS now through November 20 to get 15% off your purchase! 

Also, once you buy the device, you will only need to replenish the brush heads and products as needed. The Deep Pore Daily Cleanser is 177ml and is sure to last a long time, and as long as you take care of your brush head you won’t need to purchase a new one for 3 months.

Camel Coat & Fringe Booties

Hey there! Today’s OOTD includes some of my favorite fall pieces! When the temperature starts to drop, I’m all about layering. 

I love this flowy tank and sweater combo with my favorite camel coat on top. It’s the perfect solution to the back-and-forth between chilly outside air and the comfortable temp inside. I also think leather leggings are a perfect fall staple. They add a chic element to any look, as opposed to a classic pair of cotton leggings. 

Finally, these fringe booties are my new favorite! This is my first pair of lighter-colored boots (I’m more of a black shoe kind of gal) and I really like the little extra something they give to this outfit. Plus, these ones just happen to be super comfy!

{Room Tour:} Dorm Sweet Dorm

Hey there! Today I have a room tour for you! I live in an off-campus apartment this year and am really enjoying it so far. I moved in a little over two weeks ago, but it didn’t take long for me to decorate my room and get everything sorted the way I wanted it to be. My apartment has two bedrooms and I share a room with my roommate Christina -- shout out out to her if she’s reading! However, I’ll only be showing you my side in this tour. Without further ado, here’s my apartment room tour...

DESK

Let’s start at my desk. I like to keep my desktop super organized and free of clutter. I have a task lamp that has three storage cups to hold scissors, a stapler, tape, pencils, etc. One thing I do keep out on my desk is my Day Designer, which is (in my personal opinion) the greatest planner in the world. If you have hear of the Day Designer, definitely check it out. I then have sticky notes and a bunch of colorful clips and pins that I’ve kept in the clear storage container they came in. All of my colored pens and Sharpies (I have a slight obsession with Sharpies...) are kept in two mini buckets I got from the Target dollar bins. Finally, I have a decorative giant clothespin and a super cute acrylic organizer that I got from HomeGoods.

DRESSER/MAKEUP TABLE

Next to my desk is my dresser, which I use as a makeup table. Like my desk, I use a lot of containers to keep everything organized. My lip products are separated into buckets (also from Target) and into categories: lip glosses, lipsticks, and lip stains/liquid lipsticks. The majority of my makeup except for my larger palettes are split up into two organizers I bought from Bed Bath & Beyond. The first is a spinning caddy [similar] that has tons of compartments to store everything. The second is a set of drawers with a divided section on top. In the back corner is glass case from Marshall’s that holds my nail polishes, and serves as the perfect display for the gorgeous Katy Perry Killer Queen perfume. Finally, I have a small jewelry box and beaded table lamp [similar] in the corner.

WALL DECOR

On my walls, I have this purple tapestry that I made in high school. It has a microphone on it and “say when” written in the cord. I put some fairy lights around it, which look super pretty at night. I then have my giant dry-erase wall calendar that helps me keep track of my monthly schedule. On either side of that, I have my necklaces displayed. I used clear Command hooks to hang them on the wall, making the necklaces both convenient to grab and pretty to look at!

BED

Next up is my bed... My bedding is a super comfy, reversible comforter that goes from striped to floral from PBteen. I’ve paired it with a grey sheet set from Target. I have a teal suede backrest pillow from Bed Bath & Beyond, and four silver decorative pillows from various stores. Finally, you’ll see my buddy Icy in the corner, who is a super cuddly Beanie Babie seal. Underneath my bed, I have two under-bed storage bins from Target and some detergent.

GETTING-READY CORNER

In my getting-ready corner at the foot of my bed, I have a place to store a lot of my hair/beauty products and a seat to sit on while putting on shoes. The storage bin is the Modular Cube Grid and Cube Grid Bins that Bed Bath & Beyond helped me purchase for back-to-school. I also have their Storage Ottoman that is one of my new favorite things! To keep the corner looking cute as well as functional, I have a bunch of picture frames, a candle, and some string lights on top of the cube grid. I also have my marquee initials and an HCXO pennant on the wall.

CLOSET

The last stop in my room is the closet. I lucked out in that the closets in my place are very spacious. On the top shelf, I have two shoe boxes with shoes I want to keep nice, sweatshirts, and a storage bin (covered in minions, of course). A Command hook holds my robes on the wall. All of my jackets, shirts, and dresses are hung using Joy Mangano Huggable Hangers in Fuschia. My skirts are hung using 4-Tier Skirt Hangers in Chrome. On the floor, I have two pop-up hampers, one for clothes and one for towels. Then I have my boots and heels. The rest of my shoes are hanging on the back of my door in a shoe organizer.

Hey there! Today, I’m bringing you some first-day outfit inspiration! Whether you’re in middle school, high school or college, I think it’s important to put a little effort into what you wear for the first day of classes. For me, looking my best keeps me feeling my best. And I think we all know that making it through the first day requires your best attitude! GIRLY CHIC:

This look combines a back-to-school basic (comfy jeans) with girly details (a lace top & embellished flats). I love this outfit because it’s simple, but looks super put together. Add some pearls and a bright lip, and you’re ready to rock the first day in style!

{Vacation Diary:} Week 2

Hey there! Time for round two of my Vacation Diary! So I’m a little late in getting this up, but I’ve been home from the beach for three days now and I’m already missing it! I had a great time at the beach and can’t wait to go back next year! Here’s a recap of my second week...

Monday, August 8: Iggy’s & Yellow Sundress

On Monday night, we went to one of our favorite restaurants: Iggy’s! They just re-opened at a new, bigger location so we were excited to visit. I like Iggy’s because it’s yummy food to go! You order at a window and then you can either eat your food at picnic tables or take it home. For my outfit that night, I wore a quick and easy yellow lace sundress [similar style] with heeled sandals. It was so comfy!

I can’t quite remember what I did on Tuesday, August 11, but apparently I didn’t take any photos... Blogger fail!

Wednesday, August 10: Rainy Day

Wednesday was a rainy day, but we still made it to the beach for a little bit. For my outfit that day, I kept it casual with my “Brunch + Mimosas” tank top and some high-waisted shorts. Of course, I had to throw on a rain jacket too! The reason we decided to go down to the beach in the rain was to check out this huge crane barge that was taking geological surveys for a Block Island wind farm. It was so close to shore and quite the sight to see! 

Thursday, August 11: Trip to Newport

The next day we took a trip to Newport for dinner. I had a delicious meal at The Red Parrot, one of my favorite restaurants in Newport. Of course, I had to take a selfie with the feet in the wave sculpture. It’s such a symbol of summer for me and I love seeing it every year!

Friday, August 12: Last Day at the Beach

Sadly, Friday was our last day at the beach. It was such a beautiful day, though, so it was hard to be too upset! We spent a long day in the sand and the waves before heading to a final family dinner at PJ’s Pub. An all-around great day!

{Vacation Diary:} Week 1

Hey there! If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve been at the beach this past week! My family and I are on our annual summer vacation in Narragansett, Rhode Island. We’re here for two weeks this year, which is super exciting because it means more time in the sun! It’s been a great first week filled with tons of time in the sand and my 21st birthday! Here’s a recap of my week... 

Sunday, July 31: Let’s Go to the Beach!

Day one was, of course, a beach day. It felt so nice to finally put my toes in the water! My boyfriend came to visit the first weekend and we had a great time soaking up the sun. That night, we went out for ice cream at my favorite place, Aunt Carrie’s!

Monday, August 1: My 21st Birthday!

The next day was my birthday! I woke up to a beautiful seat at the table, decorated with “Samantha” confetti and fresh-picked hydrangeas. It was an amazing birthday filled with yummy food, lovely gifts, and good times with family. We kicked off the day with breakfast at T’s, then headed to the beach, finishing off the day with a delicious dinner at Trio! First legal drink, woohoo! ;)

Tuesday, August 2: Rainy Day

The day after my birthday, it rained off and on so we decided to stay home and relax for most of the day. When the sun finally made an appearance late in the afternoon, we took a nice stroll on the beach. I wore my favorite comfy sweatshirt: the Her Campus Spirit Jersey! Wednesday, August 3: Toes in the Sand

Wednesday was another beautiful beach day! Not a whole lot to say here, but I thought I’d share this cute picture of my footprints in the sand with a heart made of rocks...

Thursday, August 4: Tattoos & Beautiful Views

The next day was yet another beach day. I brought a few packs of temporary tattoos with me and decided to try them out. I loved this metallic gold sparrow! You’ll probably recognize the photo of my instant camera and straw hat from my Instagram... Those were my beach essentials for the day! That night, we had a delicious dinner at 1230 Ocean Bistro, complete with a stunning view of the sunset over the water. 

Friday, August 5: Ice Cream & Lifeguard Chairs

Friday was my older sister’s last full day at the beach because she had to return home for work, so we made the most of it! The water and weather were both beautiful! We took a quick break from the sun to get some ice cream at Aunt Carrie’s, but made sure to stay at the beach until the lifeguards went off duty to get our annual Martin sister lifeguard chair photo!

Saturday, August 6: Party Time

Finally, on Saturday, I went to my friend Alexa’s house for a little house party. She lives in Rhode Island so it was perfect timing that I happened to be here for vacation. It was so nice to see some of my good friends from school. We went a little crazy with the decorations (as you can see), buying far too many balloons from Party City... Overall, it was a great night!

{Bed Bath & Beyond:} The Destination for Dorm Essentials!

Hey there! Today I’m sharing some awesome dorm essentials from Bed Bath & Beyond. I love Bed Bath & Beyond for college shopping because they offer so many amazing products and solutions that help make staying organized easy and stylish! The first thing I got was the Joy Mangano The Original Huggable Hangers 40-Pack Suit and Shirt Hangers in Fuschia. I am such a huge fan of these hangers. As you may have seen in my closet tour, I use these super slim hangers to save space in my closet and create a uniform look. They’re honestly the best! 

I also picked up this Modular Cube Grid in Pool Blue along with the Cube Grid Bins (Set of 2) in Pool Blue. I’ll be living in an apartment this year and more shelving is always a good idea! This set is super cute and easy to assemble. You can even set it up in a variety of patterns to fit your storage needs! 

Possibly my favorite purchase from this little haul is the 24-Inch Folding Storage Ottoman with Two Folding Storage Cubes in Pool Blue. Not only does this serve as the perfect seating area for putting on shoes while getting ready, it has tons of storage inside! I love that it comes with two removable bins to keep things even more organized.

I also decided to grab the Real Simple® 29-Pocket Over-the-Door Multipurpose Organizer (pictured below, center). I thought this would be perfect to share with my roommates so we all had a place to put odds and ends that might otherwise end up all over the apartment.

I’m so excited to put all of these products to good use this year. Huge thanks to Bed Bath & Beyond for helping me prep for college. Can’t wait for move in day!

{My Closet Tour:} A Beautiful Mess

Hi everyone! Today I have a closet tour for you! I love my beautiful mess of a closet. It’s not the most uniform or glamorous, but it holds all of my favorite things. I often change my mind about how I like to keep it organized (I’ve gone back and forth many times about whether to keep things in color order or arranged by sleeve length), but I’ve finally gotten it to a place I’m happy with. So, without further ado, here’s an inside look at my closet...

At the top of my closet, I’ve hung these pink globe string lights. I got them from the $3 bins at Target (such a steal), but you can find the same style all over the place. I like this bronze set from Bed, Bath, & Beyond and this white set from Urban Outfitters!

I always keep the doors of my closet open for easy access and so I can display new or favorite pieces on either side. On the left, I have my vintage black fedora, my new straw hat from ASOS, and this beautiful romper I just bought from Charlotte Russe. 

Just below that, I have a small stack of shoe boxes that I keep some of my nicer shoes in and some other shoes on top of that. I like to keep shoes in their original boxes when I can. Everything in this pile -- my Hunter rainboots, Vince Camuto heels, American Eagle wedges, Champion sneakers, and Steve Madden flats -- are easy to reach, but kept safe from dust or scuffs. On top I have my two favorite pairs of summer sandals and my go-to nude pumps.

On the right door, I have my floppy beach hat (which they now have in a more neutral color palette at Target) and this Romeo & Juliet Couture lace dress. I absolutely love this dress. I got it at T.J. Maxx for a crazy low price and have only worn it once so far. I plan to wear to Her Conference this July, however, so look out for that!

Beneath that, I have a purple crate to keep my hangers organized. I like to mostly use my pink huggable hangers (more on these later), but I keep a bunch of plastic ones on hand for hanging up laundry.

Now let���s dive into the actual closet...

On the right-hand corner of the top shelf, I have a pile of shoe boxes that strongly resembles the back room of Charlotte Russe. Don’t judge... I get a good discount! As I said, I like to keep shoes in their original boxes when possible. During the summer, I keep all of my fall and winter boots up here.

What I love about these boxes is that they all have a picture of the shoe on it for easy reference. By keeping the box facing out, I’m able to grab what I need quickly.

In the middle of the shelf, I have all of my sweatshirts and pull-overs. I have a small organization system to these. The pink and purple pile are my most worn because they’re cute and bright -- my favorite is my Her Campus Spirit Jersey!  The middle pile is classic grey sweatshirts. The far right pile is all college sweatshirts, mostly Emmanuel, with a Wheelock and Emerson one thrown in there too.

On the left-hand side of the shelf are two crates where I keep miscellaneous items. I have slippers, hats and mittens, extra blankets, and Orientation shirts in there, among other random pieces.

Moving down to the hanging rack, beneath the crates are my formal dresses and winter coats. I move the coats forward when the weather changes.

For hangers, I love these pink velvet “huggable” hangers. They are super slim to save space and hold on to even slippery pieces really well.

However, because I keep buying clothes and not hangers, there is a bit of a hodgepodge. I do have a system to them, though. The wire hangers are for clothes on probation (I have a few months to wear them before they are taken out and donated), the white plastic hangers are for new pieces, and the clear hangers are for permanent pieces that didn’t make it onto a pink hanger. 

I also have this section of black hangers at the end of the rack that are pieces reserved for my upcoming beach vacation. It includes both new pieces and things I know I want to bring. I set them aside early so I don’t wear them for a while. That way, all of my vacation outfits feel new and special!

On the far right, I have a hanging organizer that holds all of my t-shirts. I wear these mostly to bed or while exercising so I don’t mind that they’re slightly hidden behind the wall.

As for the organization of my clothes, I’ve settled on color order for now. From left to right, my clothes go from black to grey to blue to purple to green to neutrals to red to pink to white. Within each color, the items are arranged into sections: sweaters, coats/jackets/blazers, dresses, tops (arranged in sleeve order), and pants/skirts/shorts. So far, this arrangement is working for me, and I love the way it looks!

On the floor, I have all of my shoes that aren’t in boxes. My dad built a simple shoe shelf for me to add more space. On top of the shelf are my sandals and flats. Beneath that are my lesser-worn heels. Then I have my favorite/most-worn heels in front of that. Finally, I have a row of sneakers at the very front.

And that’s my closet! I also have a dresser next to my closet where I keep undergarments, pajamas, bathing suits, shorts, jeans, and leggings. But I figured you didn’t really need to see that. Floral, Fringe, & Summer Pink

Hey there! Today I have one of my favorite summer outfits of the day to share with you. I love wearing kimonos in the summer. They’re the perfect light layer for keeping cool in the hot sun, yet comfortable in chilly air-conditioned spaces. For this OOTD, I paired my favorite floral & fringe kimono with a white cropped top and bright pink button-front skirt. To complete the look, I wore an equally bright pink lipstick, fun earrings, and lace-up high heel sandals (my beloved Vince Camuto ‘Jillie’ sandals <3). Here’s a closer look at all the details...

Happy Fourth!

Hey there! I hope everyone has been enjoying this holiday weekend. Today, I have a red, white, and blue outfit that is perfect for Independence Day. I’m wearing a cobalt blue midi skirt (similar here) and basic white tee, both from Charlotte Russe. Of course, I had to go with a classic red lip (my favorite, NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in ‘Cruella’) as the red element. Printed Romper {& Short Hair!}

Hi all! Today, I’m bringing you an OOTD that is perfect for the upcoming holiday weekend. This printed romper from T.J. Maxx* is super comfy and the perfect outfit for a day in the summer sun! I paired it with wedges from Payless, my favorite sunnies, and a bright lip for a quick and easy look. Also... Surprise!! I have short hair now! I got it cut about a week ago and I’ve been loving it. It takes way less time to style now and feels fresh now that the weather is heating up. Any-who, here’s a close look at today’s outfit of the day...
