7 New Year’s Resolutions for Mom
The time has come to begin a new year. A new year full of possibilities. Let’s try to not repeat this year’s mistakes and take a little more care of mama, shall we? Let’s begin with these 7 new year’s resolutions:
1. Make more time for yourself. Take time to go get your hair done, read a book (on your own) or have lunch with a friend. A little time-out from mom duties shouldn´t make you feel guilty. If anything, it’ll make you be a better one steering clear from mom burn-out.
2. Get some sleep. Whether you’ve got a new baby that nurses every couple of hours or an active toddler that demands attention every waking second, sleep never seems to be on your to-do list, right? Well, this year make a point of getting a little shut-eye even if it means that some things go undone. That’s way better than putting salt in your coffee instead of sugar.
3. Eat right. Nourishing and taking care of your body has got to be a priority. How else will you be able to keep up with the demands of motherhood? Besides, you can´t very well tell your child to eat his veggies with a mouth full of holiday cookies, can you?
4. Take a shower . . . every day. Feeling sticky and gross just isn´t nice. Being clean and smelling fresh is. You’ll feel invigorated and ready to take on the world after a good shower.
5. A dash of patience. Resolve to breathe in deeply and take a step back. This will help you calm down when in a stressful situation and allow you to have more patience with your kids, your partner, yourself. Just breathe.
6. Cut down on screen time. Spend more time with family and friends AND THEN post it on Facebook. You’ll all benefit immensely from it.
7. Get help. Ask for help when you need it and accept it when it’s been offered to you. You miss so much when you take on more than you can really handle.
