If I had a nickel for every time a beloved series of mine had a terrible last season with so many character assassinations and a plot that made no sense, I’d have 2 nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.

I write my name on back of the cover of every book I own. I dog ear my books. I annotate the margins in pen. My books are filled with my thoughts end evidence that I have read them. Proof that my books have been used. Proof that they are loved. Because to be loved is to be changed.

I see her everywhere, lingering just out of sight, haunting the halls. Her laugh echoes with the wind, relentless. No matter how fast I run or how far I go, she’s always there, watching me. The sun's warmth reminds me of her touch—comforting and burning. I try to forget, but she’s everywhere: in the green of the grass, the scent of my tea, the faint notes of her piano. Her voice—sweet, melodic—keeps singing our song, over and over. I just want to be alone. Why won’t she leave me alone?
