the deniros ordeal was no secret, the news had spread like wildfire in the space of a short few hours and before he knew it, it was impossible for taylor not to find out about it. sure he had his quarrels with atlas but he did feel some empathy for him. it can’t have been easy watching a loved one like that and despite their differences, he could only hope everything worked out for the family. so when he spots the male deniro lining up for donuts, taylor knows he should approach and say something. nothing stupid or petty like their usual conversations. and from the sound of it, atlas too, had expected a similar conversation but he could easily put aside his dislike for the other, figuring he already had far too much on his plate. “relax, i didn’t come over to fight. i dunno’ why i came over. we’re not friends … but i heard whats happened and ..i-well, i’m sorry? i know i’m the last person you’d ever go to for anything but if you need anything or need to take a free hit ‘cause of everything going on.. i’m here, i guess.”

            there   are   times   like   this   when   atlas   wishes   his   family’s   lives   weren’t   so   public   ,   where   he   could   open   his   social   media      &      not   be   confronted   with   the   news   all   over   again   ,   or   so   he   could   go   to   something   as   simple   as   a   donut   store       &      not   receive   the   looks   he’s   been   getting   since   his   father’s   condition   was   front   page   news   .   of   course   ,   atlas   knew   that   given   not   only   his   status   but   also   his   family’s   ,   this   would   be   inevitable   .   after   his   own   hospitalisation   last   year   ,   things   in   atlas’s   life   have   changed   drastically   .   he   rarely   ever   goes   on   a   night   out   anymore      &      if   he   does   ,   he’s   more   cautious   than   ever   .   the   fear   of   going   back   to   that   place   had   kept   him   away   from   anything   that   could   harm   him   ,      &      now   he’s   back   not   for   himself   ,   but   for   his   dad   .   his   head   dips   a   little   .      ❛      i   already   told   you   .   i   don’t   want   to   do   that   ,   alright      ?      everything’s   stressful   as   it   is   .      ❜

cyndi didn’t really know much about atlas’ situation besides his ongoing feud with taylor. and frankly, she didn’t want to know anymore about that either. it wasn’t her business and she had enough of her own troubles, without incorporating everyone elses. “ha, i would if i ever spoke to the guy. we never cross paths and i’m in no rush to talk to him either,” she shrugs, the outburst at the deniro party seemingly enough to put her off ever thinking about atlas’ foe. “yeah first time in florence. it’s a beautiful place though. your family did a good job of making me want to go back sometime. and thankfully, the drama didn’t ruin the experience. it was a downer but the rest of the week was really something else. if you could let your family know that i said thank you for their hospitality and invitation, i’d appreciate that. or are they fans of thank you hampers?” the brunette wonders, a soft smile gracing her lips as she looks to atlas momentarily.

            he   laughs   a   little   at   that   ,   feeling   comforted   by   the   smell   of   fresh   coffee   that   wafts   through   the   open   space   .   to   atlas   ,   coffee   is   familiar      &      familiarity   is   welcoming   .   his   favourite   memories   from   italy   include   waking   up   to   the   warm   scent      &      starting   the   day   with   a   cup   of   his   nonna’s   freshly   ground   coffee   .      ❛      that’s   a   smart   move   .   you   should   avoid   his   bestie   ,   too   .   otherwise   you’ll   end   up   with   the   victoria’s   secret   logo   printed   onto   your   cheek   .      ❜      he   shrugs   his   shoulders   ,   thanking   the   cashier   quietly   as   she   passes   him   his   coffee   ,   before   returning   his   attention   to   cyndi   .      ❛      that’s   good   .   it’s   a   beautiful   city      ;      all   of   italy   is   ,   actually   .   if   you   ever   get   the   chance   ,   you   should   visit   amalfi   .   you’ll   make   lots   of   memories   there   .      ❜      atlas   nods   ,   chuckling   slightly   at   her   question   .      ❛      don’t   worry   about   it   .   but   if   you   want   to   sat   thank   your   properly   ,   my   nonna   is   a   huge   fan   of   rosé   .      ❜

alanna  &  atlas  had  been  through  more  between  the  two  of  them  than  most  people  do  in   their  entire  lives .  the  last  thing  they  needed  was  to  lose  their  father  .  as  the  youngest  ,  alanna  was  often  the  apple  of  her  father’s  eye   , &  she  was  an  absolute  daddy’s  girl  .  losing  him  was  something  she  couldn’t  even  think  about  without  breaking  down  .  she  knew  that  despite  the  sometimes  rocky  relationship  atlas  shared  with  their  father ,  that  he  still  felt  the  same  way  .   it  was  an  impossible  thought  .  the  doctor’s  are  in  the  room  explaining  that  they  need  to  run  some  tests ,  but  alanna’s  distracted  when  she  notices  atlas  wander  out  of  the  room  .  she  squeezes  her  father’s  hand  lightly  before  slowly  following  her  brother  into  the  hallway  ,  standing  next  to  him  &  looking  out  the  window .  ‘    it’s  like  the  sky  is  crying ..  ’   she  responds  softly  ,  looking  down  slightly  .  ‘  are  you  okay ,  ace  ?  ’

            he’s   not   sure   what   finally   pushed   him   to   breaking   point   ,   or   if   he   even   should   have   one   ,   but   all   he   knows   is   that   he   wants   this   to   end   .   every   time   atlas   thinks   he’s   over   things   ,   that   everything   will   finally   get   better   ,   he’s   dragged   back   down   by   something   tragic   like   this   .   why   can’t   he   ever   seem   to   catch   a   break      ?      he   can   only   listen   to   so   much   before   he   can’t   take   it   anymore   ,   which   is   why   he   had   to   leave   the   room   .   it   was   all   looking   too   bleak      &      he’d   heard   just   about   enough   .   it’s   quieter   out   in   the   hall   ,   though   .   it’s   late   ,   so   most   patients   are   either   sleeping   or   sedated   into   sleep   .   he   normally   hates   the   silence      ;      his   thoughts   drift   to   places   he   doesn’t   want   them   to   ,   but   he   prefers   the   blissful   quiet   to   the   words   coming   out   of   the   doctor’s   mouth   .   he   barely   glances   at   his   sister   as   he   speaks   .   he’s   not   entirely   sure   what   she’ll   see   in   his   eyes   .      ❛      i’ve   told   you   .   i’m   fine   .   everything’s   fine   .      ❜

taylor had often wondered where the duo might’ve ended up had he not gone and punched him one. in another life, he thinks they might’ve gone back to the friends they once used to be. but it was too late for that now. the pair had fought more times than he would’ve liked and he doubted there was any coming back from that especially when it came down to just how stubborn they both were. but taylor was okay with that. he was fine with losing an old friend, mainly because atlas had been the one to cut him out first. their friendship fizzled out a long time ago and he was in no rush to get it back again, not by a long shot. “apologise for what? turning up?” with a roll of his eyes, taylor relaxes, not quite as tense as he was initially at the sight of the deniro. there was no way either of them would be stupid enough to start anything here, not in front of so many people. “well they definitely got the surprise element right,” he hums, nodding a couple times before continuing,” they told me that i’d be invited to work alongside a mystery brand ambassador or some shit to help get this new campaign up and running. told me this was something new they’re trying out and here i am,” the dark haired male shrugs in response, too late to leave now and his only choice being to stick around.

            atlas   can’t   even   count   the   amount   of   people   he’s   lost   in   his   life   on   one   hand   ,   either   by   his   own   doing   or   due   to   unfortunate   circumstances   .      &      he   can’t   get   rid   of   the   feeling   that   if   things   were   different   ,   then   his   relationship   with   taylor   would   be   ,   too   .   if   atlas   had   just   explained   to   him   why   he   cut   off   all   contact   in   the   first   place   ,   would   they   be   at   a   better   level   of   understanding   .   atlas   doesn’t   know   ,      &      he’s   not   entirely   sure   whether   he’s   going   to   find   out   ,   either   .   perhaps   he   was   fooling   himself   into   thinking   that   his   actions   wouldn’t   come   back   to   bite   him   in   the   ass   ,   but   the   fact   of   the   matter   is   that   he   can’t   change   how   he   ended   their   friendship   anymore   than   he   can   change   what’s   happening   at   today’s   shoot   ,   so   he’ll   just   have   to   deal   with   it   .      ❛      well   ,   you   can’t   help   your   role   in   this   shoot   any   more   than   i   can   ,   so   let’s   leave   it   at   that   ,   yeah      ?      ❜      he   can   be   civil   for   work   ,      &      that’s   exactly   what   he   plans   on   doing   today   .      ❛      no   kidding   .      ❜      he   nods   his   head   .   when   he   saw   ‘   surprise   guest   ’   ,   he   figured   it   would   be   someone   like   leonardo   dicaprio   .   not   taylor   perry   ,   but   he   supposes   that’s   what   he   gets   .      ❛      ah   .   they   were   clever   ,   that’s   for   sure   .   it   got   us   to   turn   up   .      ❜      he   shrugs   ,   rubbing   his   hands   together   .      ❛      well   ,   let’s   see   where   we’re   needed   ,   shall   we      ?      ❜
