Album of the Day – The Quantum Enigma (Bonus Version) by Epica
Really loving this at the moment. Combo of voices and orchestration us really hitting the spot. Give it a listen even if you're not sure about heavy metal. This one is symphonic death metal.

Album of the day – Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
With the recent news of Christine McVie, I've had this in my playlist.
I tend to much heavier than this but it's good music. And it's stuff pretty much everyone knows.

Playlist of the Day: Mighty Vibes #1 to 6 from Critical Role
Good to listen if you want some music but need to focus on a task. The little Critical Role nods make for enjoyable listening for fans.
I don't know if they'll do more but I hope they make more Mighty Vibes.

Playlist of the day - Lofi Loft on YouTube Music
Today was a day too big for a single album. I needed to concentrate and finalise this 78 page work piece so I needed the tunes to help me do this.
The Lofi Loft playlist that YouTube Music threw at me worked really well. It's excellent actually and just what I needed.

Album of the day – Red Sonja (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) by Ennio Morricone
This soundtrack gets stuck in my head every time I hear it, especially the main theme.
While the film has dated and was always kinda B Grade I can't help but love it. I grew up watching this and Conan and the rest but this was my fav.
Enjoy the soundtrack.

Album of the day – The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Season One: Amazon Original Series Soundtrack) by Bear McCreary
Love it or hate to The Rings of Power has an amazing soundtrack. Bear McCreary did a fantastic job bringing the world to life in a way not too dissimilar to Howard Shore's music. It hangs on at the edge of hearing even when it is done playing. Definitely in my Tolkien playlist now.
The whole season album is fantastic but each individual episode soundtrack is even better. Check those out if you want more pretty sounds.
You should know, I'm really a book fan when it comes to Tolkien. Adaptations on screen never hit the depth or quality of The Professor's writing. They usually get parts right and other parts horribly, miserably wrong.
But with that said, it doesn't mean that it shouldn't be adapted or that there can't be enjoyable parts or even whole adaptations. I have had fun watching adaptations since Rankin and Bass' The Hobbit way back in the day and the strange only half finished Bakshi Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson's films were stunningly made but not without their problems. The Rings of Power is no different. I enjoyed most of RoP but found a few parts really frustrating. I even yelled at the screen much like I did with the weird take on Frodo and Sam in the PJ films more than once. It's far from perfect.
But I don't think RoP deserves the level of hate it's gotten because there are some truly lovely and moving parts. You can tell the show runners are fans of the writing and tried to be as true as they could with what they had the rights to use. You could see they were trying to keep to the intent of Tolkien's writings throughout. The Easter Eggs for fans of Tolkien were throughout the show too.
I guess for me, the big thing to remember is you can ignore it if you choose. It has no power over a personal link to or love of Tolkien or Tolkien's writing. There is no way to ruin the original texts because they're still there. It's easy to avoid or ignore any adaptation you don't like. Pick and choose whatever resonates with you and keep reading. Always keep reading.
So without further ado, here's RoP Season One through music. It's awesome. It's moving. It brings tears to my eyes.

Album of the day – Captain Morgan's Revenge by Alestorm
Just because work is very serious today doesn't mean that I can't have a little fun. Alestorm is definitely that.
Don't even think about throwing up your hands with Devil horns for this one. Instead raise the hook! It's pirate metal after all!

Album of the day – Darker Still by Parkway Drive
Today is a strange day. I started it listening to acoustic Japanese folk-like music but I've landed on Parkway Drive.
Maybe tomorrow the other album will make its way here but today needed something heavier.
My awesome nephew got me into this. The kid has good taste in music that's for sure. Always makes my day to see his music recommendations. He's a scary movie and whisky nerd like his Auntie too. I'm damn lucky with him and his siblings.
Anyway... back to the tunes...
Love Glitch, it's a great track but this whole album has been bangin'. I keep thinking 'that's my fav' then I hear the next lick, drum fill, melody or lyric. Might take a couple listens to settle on my top 3 from the album.

Album of the day – Welcome to My Lofi House by Auxjack
Sunday is for chilling out and resting to round out the weekend. Lofi tunes are perfect for that.
This album keeps coming up in all the lofi playlists I've come across and I can see why. It's good stuff.
Sit back, relax and listen.

Great advice as always.
hey there, i saw your recent guide on Tumblr/tagging, but I'm kinda confused about one thing: tagging systems/organization. What are they and how do I use them?
I'm mainly asking because i would like to be able to at least link a page containing all my artwork as to organize/separate it from reblogs/unrelated posts. Is that possible? I guess something similar on Twitter would be "moments," where you can categorize your tweets by whatever topic you choose for people to find. Sorry if this was confusing, im just lost :(!
Ah, so yes, this is actually super easy to do! Tumblr is designed to be easy to go through stuff later, and it's tagging system is super functional for this.
Any tag that you use on a post can be used to sort your blog, you just click on the tag in the post and it will bring you to a page that looks like this https://the-final-sif.tumblr.com/tagged/sif%20answers
That's my tag for posted answers. You can use several tags for organization. Personally I use "sif speaks" for all my posts, "sif reblogs" for reblogs, "sif answers" etc. You can use whatever you want. Most people have a category tag (art, writing, etc) and then fandom/specific tags.
When you're linking tags, you can also add /chrono at the end of the link so the posts display in chronological order (very useful for linking comics/series that are best read in order).
This looks like this https://the-final-sif.tumblr.com/tagged/sif%20answers/chrono
That's really all there is to it. Just tag the posts with a consistent tag and then that tag can used to sort your posts.

Album of the day – The Return Of The Shadow by Battlelore
Learned about this at an academic conference by the Tolkien Society. What a cool topic and awesome link to the Professor's writing.
Get your metal on and have a listen.

Album of the day – Skapanir by Danheim
So interesting and different. Love it!
Great to listen to when you need to focus at work. Or just want something outside the norm.
Hard to pin down in terms of genre... Nordic Folk Ambient might be close.
Give it a try.

Boppy tunes to make work go a bit faster.

My friend Shawn introduced me to Ani back when we were in University. He had just gone to see her at a gig in a little bar in Colorado. At the gig he bought 2 CDs - Little Plastic Castle and Up, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up. Shawn raved about how awesome she was... awesome at guitar, awesome at lyrics and telling stories... he said she was one hell of a righteous babe. He was right. Thanks for introducing me to Ani Shawn... wherever you are.
This album was in my play rotation all the way through Uni. I've told loads of folks about Ani and shared her stories and music. I've seen her live a few times myself...
If you haven't heard of her you're in for a treat.
