Very teensy flamigo redesign, because im trying to get the hand of the pokemon style and because i could go on the same ramble forever about how younger me wanted a flamingo pokemon so bad and how i cant bring myself to hate flamigo because of it but i still think they couldve done something a bit more

hello chat, i have provided Fish Lore for this fine evening

Salmonids are a kind of fish in the Mollusc Era, and they differ radically from inkfish both physiologically and culturally. For example, they have an entirely different gender system, compared to the average cephalopod's nonexistent one!

Most Salmonid cultures have two primary genders, which for now I've dubbed as "Silver" and "Red". All salmon are born Silver, with the males turning into Reds (and only for the breeding season, after which they will become Silvers again). Females stay Silver for their whole lives.

The males' regular fluctuation in colour is reflected in how they are referred to, with distinct sets of pronouns and honourifics for the two colours they may be. This differs from inkfish in the sense that they typically don't have gendered language at all in their languages.

Using this logic on the in-game models, it becomes clear that almost all boss salmonid classes are Silvers, with exceptions being the Maws*, Flyfish and Fish Stick operators (the latter are too young to have their breeding colours).

The only other difference between the sexes is an egg pouch in females, the opening of which connects to the underside of the jaw inside the mouth. They use this to carry Golden Eggs.

Upon a Boss Salmonid’s death, the eggs are usually forcefully ejected from the mouth, an adaptation to prevent suffocation of the eggs from within the mother’s body. This is why golden eggs seem to "burst" from the bodies of Boss Salmonids when they are killed.

*Since Maws are male and do not have throat pouches, they keep their golden eggs inside bags and/or satchels. Flyfish and Fish Stick drivers store their eggs in the machinery they operate as they are far too small to carry them themselves. 

oh, and here's a little bonus for making it this far:

Every single Rock the Boat member is officially drawn and not just stuck in my head,, woohoo!! I misspelt a word on Camila's shirt I'm pretty sure. whoops. It's okay you can't spot it unless you're translating it

Here's two extra stuffs also.. made a blank version of Mavi to play dress up with and I was having a BLAST (it also doubles as a scar/pattern reference too!!) as well as an anteater sea dragon. Because I'm normal about the idea of seahorses and sea dragons being like anteaters in the Splatoon world

On April 4th 2023 I drew out my Agent Ocs! It's been a LONG while since then and I feel like my art has improved a lot! So, I redid them! And I'm very proud of how these redesigns came out! I hope you enjoy them too! There's lots of tweaks and changes I made to their designs, and I'm happy with them. So.. YEah!

doing some DINOVEMBER this year, more like old times! here's up to day 5!

ONE DAY I'll learn how to properly draw clothing folds. This is Camila,,, one of Mavi's (many) siblings and uhhh splatband oc. I faced the same problem I did when orignally designing Mavi which was how do I want to draw the dorsal fin?? It was a bit easier this time though since I actually had a reference with Mavi, so there's that!!

Anywayyss these ARE just doodles but I'm hoping to use the first sketch for her ref sheet in the future

I made these yesterday mostly as ref for myself but since i went through the effort to color these now, yeah i'll post it. um. trick or treat. i might do more for other characters in the future but these take forever so idk
