Ok something I was thinking about is was what did Ignis mean by lio being "the root of all burnish crime" and "the world hunting him down for 30 years" but that doesn't really make much of any sense because we all know that Lio is only in his 20's.

Does this imply that Lio is older? (hope not)

Does this imply that the title of "the Mad Burnish leader" just gets tossed around?

Were there multiple Mad Brunish leaders? do they all pretend to be the same person???

Kray didn't have much contact with normal Burnish, so it's a safe assumption to make that he doesn't know how the Burnish CPR thing works. Which makes the ending to Promare so incredibly funny.

Imagine your adoptive son who you've secretly hated his entire life punches you in the face, tells you to "shut up and watch", and proceeds to make out with the corpse of the guy he arrested last week.

Promare's one of my favorite movies because of character-driven scenes like this.

It just drives home why I find Galo a remarkably fun protagonist to root for, because he's willing to challenge himself and his firmly held beliefs when he has good cause. He's a rescue worker, not a cop, so his core motivation is in helping people, not punitive justice.

I mean, Galo's first confrontation with the cops is more hostile than his confrontation with Lio, the "terrorist" he's there to stop.

I even love how the two face-offs are animated: the open sky and bright colors on the left and the darker contrast and Galo's shadowed eyes on the right.

And when Galo scoffs at the idea of Burnish needing to eat, Lio just…educates him. (After calmly and reasonably throwing fire in his face.) And Galo apologizes. And that changes things between them.

I've seen a ton of meta for Promare over the years, so I'm not adding anything new. I just love the character work in this story so much, I always come back to it when I'm designing my own characters.

At the start of the scene, Galo believes unquestioningly in Kray and sees Lio as his enemy.

But once Lio makes him realize that there are cracks in his understanding of the world, he goes looking for answers.

Literally in the next scene!

Galo's fucking great. He's an active protagonist who completely changes his worldview by the end of the movie. He's just a model protagonist in that sense, and I love him. <3

Ok ok I can't stop thinking about this like UGH! I have so many ideas for this AU, so many ideas for Galo, might as well list them off now:

Galo acts really differently from how he does in the movie. More calm, more reserved, less loud. this isn't an out of choice. Again, Galo wants Kray's approval, so Kray just saying, "That's not how a politician would act." Anytime he would act "out of line" would work on Galo. I would even say that Galo tries to emulate Kray even down to his mannerisms. (Aka closed eyes, big smile)

Throughout this, Galo is trying to become his own person without Krays influence. So, the transition of Galo just being a copy of Kray to the Galo we all know and love is something I can't get out of my HEAD! Like even down to his MECH. At first, it looks like a carbon copy of Krazor-x. Just for it to evolve into something that fits Galo, something BIG and LOUD! I just love that, probably because I relate to that, but I love that. :)

Galo wants to be a firefighter... he really REALLY wants to become a firefighter. This man his hyperfixated on it. Despite Kray saying that he's better than that, the thought, the dream of it is still there. Politics are fine and all, but to be on the front lines helping people? To make sure no one has to go through what he did as a kid? It's hard to just simply forget about it.

I can just imagine Kray meeting with Burning Rescue (probably to reward them or something), and Galo is just staring. Just absolutely mesmerized by all the fire equipment. All the technology! Just for Kray to realize and take him away. because again, that's not the job of a politician.

I can go on and on about character interaction! character design! Scenes in Promare that are rewritten to fit the story. But I really wanna hear what you all have to say. Besides this, AU has been here longer than I've been in the fandom. So PLEASE 🙏 PLEASE 🙏 let me hear your takes, ideas, or even if you want to add on to this. and if you have questions, please ask!

OK uh... possible POSSIBLE Promare AU concept??? I already know that the idea of Galo joining / being a part of Foresight Foundation is something that people are familiar with. I mean, there's a whole bunch of fan art for it anyways lol. but I guess here's my take on it, and let's hope it hasn't been done already -

I know Galo is already messed up due to Kray and his actions. But what if Galo was part of Foresight Foundation? or at least worked alongside Kray. Kray is seen as a role model/father figure to Galo. In this AU, post house fire: Galo was on his own, and Kray saw an opportunity and took Galo under his wing. Teaching him all about politics, what it means to be a leader, Oh and fear mongering the little guy into thinking that burnish are the devil. Making him believe that a group of burnish ended up burning down his home. Kray is on some Mother Gothel type of manipulation -

I imagine that at first, Galo is trying to win over Kray's approval. Like how someone would try to live up to their idols standards or expectations. only to find out the atrocities Kray had committed against the burnish and realizes how bad of a person Kray is. He then decides to help Lio Fotia defeat the governor and save earth in the process!

I have a lot more to talk about when it comes to this AU... like A LOTTT. But I do want to see everyone else's take on this. Do you have any ideas? Thoughts? Honestly, I just wanna see what you guys have to say. if you want to know more about it, just ask! ^^
