As an addendum to this masterlist, Vanitas was also a few people's pick for best (or runner-up) of the Summer 2021 season. I appreciate the honesty in highlighting good characters and art design while also admitting sometimes you just want an anime to do sensuality as good as this one.

Anime News Network Reviews

Mostly out of my own curiosity, I’ve been looking for reviews of Vanitas specifically for the anime and hopefully with no prior knowledge of the manga to potentially cloud with comparisons. Obviously those aren’t the easiest parameters to google, but I have found some! ANN has featured the show a few times along with its standard episodic reviews, and while I do have some quibbles (hosts pronouncing the title as “va-NIGH-tis” being a major one), the perspectives and interpretations are still worth checking out for yourselves.
