CONNECTIONS BEAR: Art Piece for Care Bears x FFBF x Care's "International Day of the Girl" Charity Auction

Happy Thursday, everyone!!!

Today, I'm proud to reveal that I, along with other select artists and celebrity artists, have each designed a Care Bears vinyl piece for the Care Bears x @forfansbyfans x Care's Charity Art Auction to help fight global poverty through the empowerment of women and girls! This is truly a huge honor and I am very grateful to Care Bears, FFBF, and Care for allowing me to be a part of something wonderful to help others through my artwork!

The design I worked on is known as "Connections Bear" which is dotted entirely by hand. The dots represent people coming together to help one another in a positive way. As stated in the description of the auction page, "The positive connections we make with one another helps us to become understanding of each other's feelings. When we connect to help others, it can go a long way to brighten someone's day and remind someone out there that they are not alone in this world".

SCREENCAP REDRAW: The Pebble and the Penguin - Marina (Human Form)

Part 2 of my Cutie Saturday feature is actually my most recent drawing to date which I just finished yesterday!

Last week, I wanted to do a redraw of one of my favorite characters from Don Bluth's "The Pebble and the Penguin", Marina, but in human form. Initially, it was going to be a regular redraw in my own style (a la the Sailor Moon redraw challenge that's going around as of this post). But I thought it'd be more fun to humanize her instead. I also tried to give it that old school 90's film aesthetic in the post production stage of the drawing.

Personally, this scene where Marina sings a reprise of Huebie's, "Sometimes I Wonder" has always been my favorite part growing up watching the film. I absolutely love this song and her rendition of it so much! 💖💖💖

DnA - Dessert Design Collection

Happy Cutie Saturday, everyone!

Back in July, I didn't get to do TOO many drawings outside of current projects. But with the little time I had free I was able to create some art of my OCs, Destiny and Ana, in time for Ice Cream Day and Cheesecake Day which fall on the same month being that these desserts also happen to be their favorites, respectfully.

I plan to do one of another OC in the cast when I have more time in the future.

Sonic the Hedgehog (28th Anniversary Sketch)

As you all may know in the Sonic fandom, June 23 marks the debut of our favorite hedgehog, Sonic! But it also happens to mark my birthday as well! 😄

Last year, I missed out making any type of drawing for the occasion, so wanted to make a quick sketch this year and color it on my and the blue blur's birthday. The sketch I did make in time for it, but I got a surprise party later on that day which was fun. So I ended up having it fully colored in digital color a day or two later. It was late, but I was happy to have something done this year; even if it was a small sketch.

June 19th marked the 12th anniversary of my fictional celebrity oc from my DnA series, Destiny Vontelle! So in honor of the day, I decided to go with a movie poster mock up featuring Destiny with Elliot as a fellow "co-star". The idea was inspired by the film poster for Ryan Reynolds & Sandra Bullock's romcom film, "The Proposal".

The beautiful font you see on the poster mock-up is from my dear friend on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook, @morg_city! She did such a beautiful job and I truly appreciate the awesome typography work she did to help bring this illustration to life! 💖 Please also be sure to check out her social media for her awesome artwork as well!

Page Update & What's to Come

Hi, everyone! First off, my deepest apologies for being absent longer than I had intended along with the lack of post for the MerMay drawings I thought I would have up by now.

Shortly after making that post, a lot of changes (thankfully positive ones) in my path as an illustrator came into my life. Because of the opportunity I was offered and given, I had to postpone most of my own personal projects for the ones I have to work on now since late June right after my birthday passed.

I only occasionally had a chance to make one or two drawings throughout this time and with the workload I had for the new opportunity I have as an illustrator, I had to indefinitely end my MerMay drawings and I have just decided to ultimately do the rest of the other half for next year to complete the Little Mermaid story illustrations for the event. This was a hard choice for me to make, but it was impossible for me to do everything at once while working on important drawings for a client. This also means that I won't be joining in on Inktober as much as I wanted to this year.

However, I'm going to just go ahead and post all the few drawings I made between late June and now on here while I can since I owe you all that much.

I'm going to try to update my Tumblr blog whenever possible. But please do know that every time I draw, I do my best to give you all something of quality. I may not be able to post everyday like I want to (especially now), but I hope the stuff I do post in the future will be something that you all will enjoy.

MerMay 2019 Update

Hi, everyone! For those who don't follow me on Instagram, I have been trying my best to update my MerMay art throughout the month on my other social media. With Tumblr, however, I think I'll be deleting the original posts to reupload the first 3 images into a collection of the first 10 images I've drawn with the image descriptions for each drawing. That way, it will be more like an illustrated story collection post rather than everyone finding one picture at a time for each drawing in "The Little MerMay" theme collection.

Although, I haven't made it to 31 drawings this month due to unexpected delays, I will be continuing on Instagram throughout the month of June and for every next 10 drawings I make, I'll make a Part 2 & 3 blog post with Part 4 being the final post which will be drawing 31 as a single drawing post.

I'm deeply sorry for keeping you all out of the loop and waiting for such a long time. May hasn't been a great month for me overall in 2019, but I will continue to do my very best with everything with this collection and other art projects in-between.

Drawing 3: Myths of the World Above

The one thing the little mermaid loved the most during her childhood was hearing the stories from her grandmother about the surface world above where humans live. In these stories, her grandmother would describe all that she knew about the ships, towns, animals that inhabited the world above them. Along with these descriptions, the grandmother also told of the fragrant flowers, the vibrant trees with their green leaves, and the singing of birds that she described as "flying fish". The more she heard of these stories, the more the youngest princess longed to see the surface. But, as her grandmother stated, she would only be allowed to see such sights the moment she turns fifteen of age which for the little mermaid was a long wait. For she would have to wait five years longer than her sisters who were each one year younger than the other. But each one promised to share their experience of their first visit to the surface since they all felt their grandmother didn't tell them enough.

Drawing 2: The Purple Garden

In front of the sea-king's castle there was a large garden. Within this garden, the 6 princesses had their own place where they would dig and plant. One had a flower-bed that was shaped as a whale while another had one shaped as a small mermaid. But the youngest daughter had hers shaped like the sun with small purple flowers that replicated its purple hue. While the other princesses thought fondly of their discovered objects found from shipwrecks, the youngest was only fond of her purple flowers and a beautiful statue that resembled a boy carved out of white marble which also came from a shipwreck. Alongside it, she planted a red weeping willow with branches that hung over the figure.

Under the sea, there lived merfolks at the bottom of the ocean. In it’s deepest depths, stands the sea-king’s palace. The sea-king had been a widower for many years while his mother kept house for him and tended to his 6 beautiful daughters; with the youngest being the most beautiful of all. Her complexion was as clear and delicate as a rose petal with eyes as blue as the ocean. Of all of her sisters, she also possessed the most beautiful, tremendous singing voice for such a peculiarly quiet and sensitive child.

MerMay 2019 Theme Title:

The Little MerMay

Well, now that Drawing 1 is completed, it's now to reveal that this year's MerMay art event theme will be called, "The Little MerMay"!

This is going to be a little different in that rather than each drawing being a random one, the each new drawing will illustrate a scene from the original Hans Christian Andersen story of "The Little Mermaid" (so no Disney-related stuff, for those wondering).

My goal is to make it to all 31 days. But realistically, I will continue onwards for any days missed beyond the month of May to complete the entire collection! I hope you all stay tuned and look forward to the new art to come throughout the month of May for this collection! ^_^
