Conservative women who say "we don't need feminism" just don't understand what the movement is about. Without feminism we wouldn't even be allowed to have our own opinions. You wouldn't be able to speak up about your views without gender equality. Feminism at its core is about EQUALITY between women and men, not women being superior to men (although I personally believe that society would be much more peaceful under a matriarchy).

I think the most annoying thing about how punk is talked about on this website is the bastardization of DIY. When people are talking about DIY in punk, they’re talking about forming their own bands, organizing their own shows, creating their own venues, booking their own tours, recording their own music, building their own labels, making their own merch, doing more than I care to write here. They did this out of necessity, because no one in the industry wanted them, and later out of a refusal to engage with the extortionist, exploitative, abusive world of corporate rock.

On Tumblr, though, punk DIY is about arts and crafts, making charm bracelets out of garbage, and painting the shittiest patches you’ve ever seen with the corniest, most played out slogans you can think of. There’s nothing wrong with that, but outside of this website, that’s not what DIY in punk means.
