To reach the John Logan Town clinic in Grand Bassa County, ‪Liberia‬, medicine and supplies have to cross this bridge – so do patients, some of whom walk up to six hours to access health care. In the 10 months since we began supporting the clinic with staff, training, meds and supplies, the clinic has treated more than 5,600 patients. We joined the ‪#‎Access2Meds‬ Twitter chat, hosted by Devex, with key stakeholders to discuss how we can close the gap on global access to medicines. Check out the recap on Storify: http://bit.ly/Access2MedsRecap

More than 400 million people worldwide have viral ‪#‎hepatitis‬, an infectious liver disease. Hepatitis is a public health threat for people living in developing countries with limited access to treatment. Today, on World Hepatitis Day, we support the World Health Organization’s global strategy of eliminating hepatitis by 2030. Our community outreach program in India teaches families how to prevent hepatitis and provides them with the proper treatment. In Tanzania, we’re protecting health workers from hepatitis with safety training, medical supplies, and vaccines. We’re working to treat patients co-infected with hepatitis C and HIV in six countries, in partnership with the Clinton Health Access Initiative and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Disaster preparedness saves lives. Planning and coordination is a key part of our emergency response efforts, especially in hurricane-prone regions. To help families during emergencies, we make sure our warehouse is stocked with crucial medicines and relief supplies before disaster strikes. Today our corporate partners volunteered to prepare 1,000 first aid kits, ready to be delivered to disaster survivors. Learn more: http://bit.ly/AmCHurricane

The mosquito-borne ‪Zika‬ virus has infected more than 1,400 people in the U.S. and more than 3,700 people in Puerto Rico‬. Health officials are warning pregnant women to avoid travel to countries where Zika is active or present. Infection during pregnancy can cause severe birth defects, including abnormal brain development.
To protect families from ‪#‎mosquitoes‬ carrying the virus, we’re delivering 300,000 cans of insect repellent to our health partners in the southern U.S. and Puerto Rico. The product donations from SC Johnson, A Family Company are a continuation of our distribution of repellent in the U.S. and El Salvador this spring. We continue to provide families with protection kits that include repellent, bed nets, and educational materials throughout Latin America‬ and the ‪Caribbean‬. Learn more: http://bit.ly/AmCSCJZika

More than 22,000 people sustained injuries from the devastating ‪Nepal earthquake last year. With over 1,100 damaged or destroyed medical facilities, people have limited access to long-term treatment. To help patients completely heal, we opened a rehabilitation center in Sindhupalchowk‬, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration. Since November, we helped more than 100 patients complete treatment and return to productive lives. Learn more: http://bit.ly/AmCNepalEarthquake
