Minute Maid Park is Now The Biggest Place to Be For Covid-19 Vaccinations in Houston!

For those of you anxious about new developments with the Covid-19 vaccine in the Houston area, look sharp!

On the 16th of January, the Houston Health Department and the Astros Foundation partnered together for a second Covid-19 vaccination mega site at the famous Minute Maid Park! This event featured 2,400 pre-scheduled appointments and 2,600 new appointments, with plans to vaccinate 5,000 people in total. The site featured the first dose of the vaccine and was assigned to Houstonians who met Phase 1A and Phase 1B of the state’s criteria.

Though chances are you or your family were not among the first wave of Houstonians to receive the vaccine, this is nonetheless a crucial event to note! Why? Because the vaccine will soon be out soon for everyone to take part in! And, as expected, Minute Maid Park will continue to be the number one place for Houstonians to get what they need to protect themselves against Covid.

When it’s not the Covid season, Minute Maid Park is the best spot in the city to enjoy the Houston sports scene. As the stadium where the Houston Astros play, it’s a great place for dates, a fun night out, and sports fans alike! Though it is currently acting as a vaccine center, you can expect things to fully open back up for fun once the spread of the virus dies down.

If you or a loved one will meet the criteria for vaccination in the future, look no further! There’s plenty of great apartment communities to live in when it comes to getting over to Minute Maid with ease. Get Ready! The Houston Rodeo Is Coming Soon!

For many Texans, especially Houstonians, we have one really big claim to fame: The Rodeo.

From the delicious food to the live performances to the carnival, there’s an endless amount of great things to see and do during this amazing time of the year. This year, the Rodeo was postponed a few months ahead due to Covid and is expected to begin on May 4th. Guests can expect to enjoy some good old-fashioned Rodeo fun while still taking proper Covid safety precautions.

The Rodeo holds a special place in the hearts of so many Houston residents. When I look back at last year, Covid-19 struck right in the middle of when the event was taking place, prematurely putting an end to festivities. It definitely made a big impression on a lot of Houstonians and hopes for a safer, better Rodeo in 2021 has proven to be a particularly strong sentiment among the locals. Just as it is every year, the Rodeo will take place at NRG Stadium. This enormous stadium is primarily used for major exhibits, concerts, and sporting events that millions of Houstonians enjoy every year.

And I know from personal experience that, when it comes to residential living directly across the way from where the stadium is located, The Broadmead Apartments is THE place to be! This Karya-owned residential community features affordable living, quality amenities, friendly staff, and less than a ten-minute drive over to the stadium with ease. For those of you getting ready for the Rodeo and looking for a place to live, this is the ideal spot for all your living needs. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re just moving into the area, or if you’re a festival or sports junkie looking for quick reach to the best stadium events in Houston.

This Rodeo season and especially in the weeks leading up to the event, make sure to be mindful of your personal health so as to accommodate the health of others. While Covid may possibly be ramping down by the time the Rodeo rolls around, we can still make sure to keep safe. Until then, I’ll be biding my time over at The Broadmead and getting ready to buy my tickets.

Nature Under the Stars

As much as I love staying indoors with a warm blanket during this cold weather, it’s also very important to take some time to get out and experience some nature and fresh air. And if you’re in the Overland Park region of Kansas, what better place to experience that kind of magic than at the Overland Park Arboretum? 

This dazzling, scenic botanical garden features an array of beautiful trees, flowers, and plants that simply have to be fully experienced in the great outdoors. And since Covid-19 took a giant toll on our desire to leave the house, it’s important to go out and experience some quality nature from time to time, especially since it can be very good for your health! 

This Friday, running from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens is hosting its special Night at the Arboretum event! This FREE event will allow you and your family to explore the beautiful nature grounds of the arboretum in the dark, getting the chance to fully immerse yourself in nature from the glow of your flashlight. The park features many unique species of birds nearby and you won’t want to miss getting the chance to see some fascinating wildlife under cover of darkness. And the great thing is that with all the arboretum’s wide-open space, you’ll be fully socially distanced from others, allowing for a safe outdoor experience.

For the best places to live in proximity to the Overland Park Arboretum, I definitely recommend Clear Creek Apartments. This great, affordable, pet-friendly community is only fifteen minutes away and provides easy commutes all across the Overland Park area. I was surprised at just how friendly the staff can be and it’s a very good way to have access to the best amenities while still being able to enjoy Kansas life at a good price. 

Even if you’re not really a nature person, I think you still would not want to miss this event. It can be difficult to push yourself to go outside after we essentially spent all of last year stuck indoors. But trust me, some things are just better off experienced outside, especially when it involves some quality nighttime exploration. And hey, it’s free! That makes it even better! You can even bring your dog along, so long as it’s kept on a leash. I’d say it’s a win-win all around.

A Relaxing Day on the San Antonio River Walk

The Alamo isn’t the only iconic location that San Antonio has to offer! 

If there’s one place I truly love more than anyplace else in the Downtown San Antonio area, it’s definitely the River Walk. This scenic riverside location offers visitors the chance to enjoy a sense of quiet serenity, the perfect family activity for those who enjoy a good walk. 

But that isn’t all the River Walk offers! Just recently, running to January 30th, the San Antonio River Authority has now authorized river kayaking right on the water! Here, visitors can rent a kayak and enjoy riding down the River Walk as it winds down through San Antonio’s world-famous Downtown Business District. It’s an easy, breezy 3.5 mile flat-water kayak trip that you and your family won’t want to miss! While advanced registration is required and there will be a rental fee for the kayak, paddles, and life vest, the opportunity is very much worth the cost and you can enjoy a great introspective look at Downtown San Antonio right from the comfort of your boat! 

San Antonio always has something for everyone, especially when it comes to its residents. In terms of affordable apartment living here, both Latitude Apartments and Terrain at Medical are both excellent living choices. These pet-friendly Karya-owned apartments have been my go-to in the past and they both have the added advantage of being just fifteen minutes away from the River Walk with little to no traffic, even on the weekend. You’ll find them to be excellent choices when it comes to location convenience, as well as great opportunities for friendly service and good amenities. I’d definitely recommend them for any first-timer that plans on staying in San Antonio for a while. But the great thing about the city is that it’s so easy to navigate through that no matter where you stay, you’ll always have easy travel through the area. It’s part of the reason why San Antonio is one of my favorite places in Texas!

When you decide to embark on your kayak river adventure, make sure to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and sunglasses! Though January is a cold month in Texas, you’re better off being well prepared for some sun. Paranormal Cirque Arrives in Dallas!

The circus is in town! 

Well, the paranormal circus that is. Paranormal Cirque is a crazy combination of circus, theatre, and cabaret that truly is a kooky (but fun!) sight to behold. Audiences will get to see acrobats, illusionists, freaks, mysterious creatures, and all kinds of creepy, supernatural attractions meant to boggle the mind. It’s the perfect attraction for anyone with an appetite for the strange and bizarre. Personally, I love all things dark and unusual and I can’t wait to see what this eerie circus has to offer.

For Dallas residents living near Town East Mall, they’ll have easy access to the event between the 21st and the 23rd of this month. While no one under the age of 13 will be admitted to the show, guests aged 13-17 can attend alongside a parent or guardian. I guess, in a way, that tidbit of information should be enough to warrant a spooktacular experience if you enjoy more straightforward scares and thrills. Either way, it’s a great opportunity to take part in some creative horror heights! 

In terms of getting to Town East Mall with ease in proximity to residential communities, Dallas offers plenty of excellent living options. If you’re living in ideal residential communities such as Residence at Lake Highlands, Sierra Park Apartments, and The Lure Apartments, you can enjoy a quick less than thirty-minute commute over, on top of affordable apartment housing. Dallas traffic can often be unpredictable, especially during the weekend and near shopping centers like the Town East Mall. But with that said, many of these excellent apartment selections can work in your favor when it comes to nearby convenience. 

Even though Halloween has long since ended, that doesn’t mean that you can’t bring a spooky sense of fun to the month of January! Movie Madness at Moonstruck Drive-In

Out of all the things I miss the most in a post-Covid world, it’s getting the chance to go to the movies. There really is nothing like watching something on the big screen and, as much as I’ve enjoyed my Tiger King and The Queen’s Gambit, they simply can’t replace the magic that going to the movies has to offer. 

But there’s plenty of good news for me and many other movie-lovers in Houston because the Moonstruck Drive-In is fully open for business! This East-Downtown Drive-In is the city’s first and only permanent drive-in movie theater and event venue, the perfect place to enjoy a good flick from the comfort of your car. Films are screened over the course of the day, from popular family-friendly movies to Sundance Film Festival selections. No matter what your tastes are, there’s always plenty of different options to enjoy, even now during Covid.

East Downtown Houston is where the art and soul of the city are truly located. Here, Houstonians can always find a true taste of Texas culture with a funky urban atmosphere flourished with the modern spice of local creativity and hospitality. It’s a great place to live near for any native Houstonians and, especially when it comes to the Moonstruck Drive-In, you’ll want to make sure you’re always within reach! 

In terms of living near the drive-in without the hustle and bustle of the city, there’s plenty of great apartment options. While living in the Bayou area is ideal, you’ll find that areas such as The Heights, Spring Branch, and Northside Village are all great for fifteen-minute commutes into the city with ease. Among these areas, Providence at Heights, Providence at Memorial, and Shadow Creek Apartments are all excellent options respectively as they’re both affordable and in quick range of East Downtown.

Good news, Houstonians! Fans of “The Office” can rejoice because this month, running from the 15th to the 30th, the seasonal “Dunder Mifflin Bar” is featuring a new pop-up bar attraction directly inspired by the hit show. 

Located at 711 Main Street, this Downtown bar has been noteworthy in the past for producing an excellent Harry Potter-themed bar last October and now they’re at it again, this time to provide Houstonians the comedic taste of the office life with this high-demand event. You can enjoy an array of tasty drinks and snacks directly inspired by the show complete with plenty of opportunities for interactive photo-ops, karaoke, trivia, and more! 

Downtown Houston is a great place to be no matter the occasion, full of fun things to see and do across the board. Residents near the area can enjoy a good day out on the town with excellent locations like The Shops at Houston Center, Minute Maid Park, Discovery Green, The Downtown Club, and more! 

When it comes to quickly commuting over to this new themed-bar, Houstonians have many close living options. If you’re not staying directly in the city at the local Hyatt Regency and JW Marriott, you can take your pick of some excellent apartments nearby! Ever-faithful Bayou Park, as always, is your best bet for regional convenience as it’s only a five to eight-minute drive over. Providence at Heights is equally handy if you’re ten minutes out of the city. For residents living near the Spring Branch region, The Providence at Memorial, for example, you’ll still have a quick reach to Downtown, but you might get that incoming Houston traffic coming in. It’s always important to make sure you have a plan of action if you’re living more than fifteen-minutes out of the city.

If there’s one thing I can confidently say about myself, it’s that I’m always in the mood for FOOD! Especially when it comes to new fast-food chains. Yes, I confess, I have a weakness for some good old-fashioned greasy deliciousness, burgers and fries and all. 

Which is great news for both myself and other fast-food lovers with the new MrBeast Burger open for delivery within the Dallas area! MrBeast, for those uninformed, is a hugely popular Youtube celebrity with an enormous following and an entrepreneurial spirit. His latest project is opening up his new MrBeast Burger chain across the country, designed for all to enjoy with tasty burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, and much more! The newest, biggest opening in Dallas marks the beginning of the chain’s emergence into the public, currently only delivery-only. 

The new MrBeast Burger is located at the Buca di Beppo restaurant in the Southlake area of Dallas, a popular section of town known for its delicious selection of dining options. And the great thing is that a portion of each sale goes directly to food relief charities across the country. With that in mind, along with so many delicious food options to choose from, it looks like I’ll be having to loosen my belt up tonight! A Peaceful Weekend on the Water at Baytown

If there’s one thing I enjoy more than anything else, it’s getting the chance to enjoy the great outdoors and share a quiet day in nature. For the residents of Baytown, there’s a great opportunity to experience some fresh air and sunshine with its wonderful Baytown Nature Center!

The Baytown Nature Center features a wide variety of outdoor excellence, complete with fishing piers, birding trails, butterfly gardens, bicycle paths, playgrounds, kayak launches, and other facilities for everyone to enjoy. At the Center, you really get out and experience the full wonder of nature, as well as spend some quality time with your family. Since Spring has now arrived, be prepared for sunny skies and perfect weather that you’ll want to enjoy with some quality time outside. 

Baytown is a truly beautiful part of Texas that is always in need of some solid attention. From its Town Square to its serene, marine-focused atmosphere, it’s a very calm and soothing part of town that many would warmly appreciate. Fishing is choice here on a year-round basis and there’s nothing quite like getting the chance to watch new boats come in from long voyages out on the water. It’s a great place to live, both for a single person and those with a family. For the best places to live, I’ve found that Bay Oaks Apartments, Marina Club Apartments, and Providence at Baytown are all excellent, cost-effective residential spaces where you’ll always have a comfortable place to come home to. All three come with a wide variety of excellent amenities and the people there couldn’t be friendlier. It definitely helped my time in Baytown feel all the more rewarding.

The Baytown Nature Center is open every day except for Christmas and Thanksgiving, sunrise to sunset. Admission is $4 for adults and $1 for children and seniors. You can also buy an annual pass for $30 (individuals) and $65 (family). It’s definitely worth it as you’ll love the excellent selection of fishing, picnic, and other recreational opportunities available.

I’ve discussed the emergence of Silicon Valley within Texas in the past. But there’s even BIGGER news! Many are saying that, as a tech hub, the Dallas-Fort Worth area has now significantly outshined the San Francisco Bay Area this year with both Silicon Valley and San Francisco slipping in their overall rankings. The holidays may be ending but that doesn’t mean the fun has to!

This season, running to this Sunday, enjoy the last bits of winter with The Light Park drive-thru spectacular at Hurricane Harbor! This week-long event features a special holiday light show with millions of holiday lights flashing on display in the Hurricane Harbor parking lot. It’s a great way to spend time with your families from the warmth of your car, taking in the last traces of that warm winter holiday spirit before you celebrate the new year.

Hurricane Harbor is a great place to be during the summer when things get hot. From rides to games to a LOT of splashes, it’s the perfect place to cool off on a hot day! While the park is not open right now due to Covid and the season, things are expected to pick back up again in the summer so make sure you’re setting aside time to beat the crowds!

In terms of residential living with close convenience to Hurricane Harbor, there are many options to pick from. Buena Vista Apartments has the benefit of living in a more suburban area with only a fifteen-minute drive over, plus they’re very price-friendly for first-time apartment-dwellers.
