Assessment of SickKids Foundation Social Media
The following report will examine the social media methods and perceived media strategies of the SickKids Foundation. The report will cover the brands use of each of their digital channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn, and identify how successful the brand has performed in utilizing each of these platforms. After detailing a thorough analysis, the report will outline areas that the foundation should modify to improve their social media strategy moving forward.

3. First off, keywords. This means using words onsite that relate to your company message. For example, companies like @aritzia use keywords like ‘wear to work’, ‘women’, ‘ootd’, and ‘spring style’ to launch their new denim collection! #DenimForum
4. Keywords help search engines understand your site, and where it exists. Although it won’t increase your page ranking, still important to be recognized! #relatable #keywords
5. More importantly, off-site activity using backlinks is critical to your Google page ranking. This means having reputable sources link the user back to your website – this could be on blogs, articles, or anything that supports your cause! #backlinks #SEO
6. Have you ever taken the time to scroll through pages of Google results? No! Research shows majority of users will create a new search if what they want isn’t in the top 3 results. Pretty #savage if you ask me.
7. Backlinks need to be strategic, the websites need to be credible as well. And the better they are, the greater the effect! @aritzia does this effectively through using influencers to obtain editorial status – thanks @bellahadid and #MeghanMarkle !
8. The thing to remember with backlinks is that they need to have quantitative and qualitative value. Reputable source + multiple of them = better Google ranking #GoogleRank

Welcome to Ad Burns.
Ad Burns will never stray from the honest truth about advertising in the 21st century; burning or praising them along the way. Written by Sarah Anderson, a 4th year Commerce Student at Queen’s University streaming in Marketing Strategy, advertising has become integrated into all areas of our lives and is important to be analyzed critically. With experience in digital marketing, Ad Burns will serve as a portfolio for further developing skills in the digital space using techniques from WRIT240: Writing for Social Media. As a Commerce student interested in pursuing a career in marketing under relevant and fast growing Canadian brands; skills learned in WRIT240 will work towards developing a better understanding of social media and the impactful importance of this extension of a brand.
Social Media in Marketing
Especially critical for brands today, social media has effectively become an extension a brand and an equally important method of communication with consumers. Brands like Spotify and Netflix have taken this a step further, integrating real-time consumer data to create meaningful conversations with their followers. But social media isn’t just critical for tech company conversations; it’s the a very effective way to reach and satisfy consumers in any industry from a one-to-one perspective.
Room for Analysis
Over the course of the next 4 months, I will dive deeper into the importance of social media from a corporate perspective, and which companies are currently #winning the game. With the shareability of our society, companies can’t get away with anything less than mediocre and can’t afford to miss the mark (think of the 2017 Pepsi mess). Looking at the importance of consistent brand images and values, ad campaigns can be analyzed based on campaign objectives, target audience, creative strategy and execution as well as the channel strategy.
