Okay, but the Shalka!Master is severely underrated.

He’s living the Master’s best life as an Android, taking control of the Doctor’s TARDIS and coming off as shady, but truly doing good too. Sure, he isn’t ruling the universe like he wants, but he is alive beside his best friend as his companion and that’s all he’s ever needed.

Scream of the Shalka

Theres a lot of books out there that come from established media out the that I always think give more about the characters than the original source. This is one of them. Theres a lot more detail in this book than the Webcast. It feels like you get to know the characters more, not just the Doctor but the other characters like Alison, Kennet and Joe. It gives them far more levels with really adds levels to them.

It was interesting to see all the alterations made in this one - like to the Shalka themselves. In the Webcast they seem....organised and imperial, in a sense. However in the novel they're given a more tribal feel. Theres strict indications of strength and leadership. As well as Prime themself - instead of the half-Human-half-Shalka form we see see in the webcast, they're described as having a full on humanoid form....gotta admit I prefer the Webcast in that respect.

The only bad thing about this....isn't really a bad thing. More of a wish. See I would often have to refer back to the images from the Wecast to inform what I was reading. And part of me wished they'd done more live action stuff, instead, like maybe a photoshoot, in-costume?

I think I'm going to read the last parts in my own time - the behind the scenes, the original script, and maybe the Feast of the Stone short story.

Aaaaand that was the last of the Doctor Who books, at least for a while. I'll be putting up my chart list very soon.

Next up will be Bioshock: Rapture by John Shirley. Not sure if I'll start this next week or maybe take a Christmas break

Someone take the Scream of the Shalka novelization away from me, it’s ruining my life

Shalka!Doctor is great because he perfectly balances a dark and serious Tim Burton gothic aesthetic mixed with like, a scene kid from 2003 (the year he was created). So you’re just left with this polite gentleman who kind of looks like a vampire but would absolutely have a MySpace and dye his hair neon if left unattended.

I really appreciate all the little added bits about these two travelling together. Very silly and bittersweet, it’s nice.

This entire scene is just *chef kiss*

Anyways, Doccy Who doesn’t have a canon but Scream of the Shalka is canon. No I will not elaborate.

What I like about them- alison takes NO BULLSHIT. alison speaks her mind. alison is a complicated, realistic person dealing with relationship problems, working a shitty job, AND trying to cope w/ alien invasion and she takes it in stride so well. the adaptability on this girl….

What I dislike about them- that was the only thing we got to see of her :( i dont dislike anything about her i just dislike doctor who trademark for not giving her any more content

Favourite moment- when she was talkin w the master in the tardis after everything was sort of settled and she was sort of processing what had happened !!

Least favourite moment- when she screamed to get rid of the monsters. very epic of her it was just so so campy though

A situation with this character that I want to see explored more- literally every situation. every single one. she should have gotten a season with a ton of cool little adventures

An interesting AU for this character- i really just want her to meet other companions so like. au where her 9th doctor is the new who 9th doctor and she and rose travel w him together. 

OTP (or OT3+ etc…. just… favourite ship)- i do not ship her with anyone :pensive:

BROTP- her and the master!! thats her robot dad

NOTP- her and her nasty shitty boyfriend who made her drop out of college

A headcanon- eventually she does stop travelling with the doctor of her own accord and she goes back to earth and gets that degree in history that she wanted and has learned to live for herself instead of for her boyfriend/other people

Heyyyyyyy people! Chapter 3 of the thoroughly inconsequential steampunk DW fanfic adventure is up!

Someone has crashed on the steampunk balloon boat that Dhawan Master and Alison Cheney [from Scream of the Shalka] are flying around in. Who is it? What does she want? Alison has a brilliant idea to find out, so she takes charge.

Meanwhile, the Master helpfully…naps. [To be fair, he almost fell overboard in the previous episode, so he has a legitimate reason to be exhausted.]

When we last left our intrepid [?!] flying heroes [?!], Alison had just gotten a brilliant idea for how she and the Master could understand the winged person who crashed out of the sky onto the Master’s steampunk balloon boat.
