Do you have any tips for getting started drawing horses? I've tried to do studies of horses from images but I'm having a hard time understanding the shapes that make up horses. It feels like I'm just wasting time since I can't comprehend their form. Thanks in advanced! (and sorry if you've been asked this before, I didn't see anything on your blog)
Hi! This has been in my inbox for forever so, better late than never... I was asked this back on Twitter a bit ago and honestly what helped me a lot was looking at how different artists draw horses. Learning from real life is important but it only gets you so far. If you want to start to stylize things its good to get a repertoire of artists to learn from. Of course, never completely copy someones style, just use these artists to learn how they make a complicated object (horse) and turn it into a more appealing simplified 2D form. Good luck on your art journey!

Do you know the (pc/internet) game "howrse"? I think you would like it and you can show your drawings there and win sth in the game.
This brings me back...I remember playing all those cool horse online games back in middle school...sadly im much too busy as an adult to keep up with them..

would you be alright with me asking what brushes you use to colour ? It’s so painterly and gorgeous! I have CSP but I haven’t found anything apart from lineart brushes - all the colouring ones seem so diluted
I use brushes from both the DAUB and Frenden’s CSP brush packs.
The packs are pretty large and id recommend experimenting with different brushes on them to find the right one for you. But I mainly use the Flat On Glass brush from DAUB and the watercolors from Frenden

what brush settings do you use for linework? I love it so much
Hi! I use frenden’s clip studio paint brushes, for most of my lineart I use the Tech Pen and use the Nigel Nib for more realistic brush work. The Tech Pig Pen and Gritty Smitty are just used for any other special effects I’d want.
