Peggy shut the car door behind her as she got stepped out onto the street. This town looked quaint and maybe even normal, but there was something off. Her eyes gazed around at the little shops and buildings that surrounded the square. A library, a diner, perhaps a pawn shop down the way? Relatively normal, she thought.

S.H.I.E.L.D. had sent her out on this mission to scope out this particular area in the middle of Massachusetts. The scientists had found that there was some residue energy from some sort of portal, though they had never seen anything like it before. The mission was offered up to the entirety of the agents but of course, Peggy was the only one brave enough to volunteer. 

She took off her red sunglasses as she continued to look around. There was definitely something this town was hiding. The agent locked up the car before strutting inside of the little diner she had spotted. As she walked inside, she peeked her head through the door.

“Hello? Is anyone here?” she called out.

Peggy sat in her room, alone. Her knees were hugged up to her chest as her eyes scanned the room. Everything was very clean. Definitely too much white for her tastes. But perhaps that’s how the future was. She wouldn’t know.

How could she have slept for 70 years? Howard promised her that he would keep her safe. The experiment was merely a prototype and it kept her asleep for that long? Now here she was, in the 21st century being held hostage by people that told her they were S.H.I.E.L.D. Though, she wouldn’t trust them too quickly. Anything could happen to her if she wasn’t careful.

The door creaked open. She glanced up in an instant as her muscles began to tense up. She hated that these people didn’t knock or announce themselves. It made her paranoia even worse.

“Who’s there? Don’t you know it’s rude not to knock?” she called out, trying to sound more assertive than afraid.
