On the topic of Nico's fantastic willingness to kill without hesitation or mercy if he deems it necessary, sometimes I think about how in the final battle against Nero when Apollo clears a path for Nico to get to the bastard Nico immediately tries to cleave Nero in half. Like, even when characters fight gods in these books they tend to aim for non-fatal wounds, if only because a "fatal" wound likely wouldn't kill a god anyway (see Percy going for Ares's leg rather than his chest or throat, although part of that might be related to height difference), but not Nico! Sometimes I think about that scene and I'm like "I cannot possibly be remembering that right", but Nico very much is aiming to cut Nero in half! And I don't doubt he could've done it given the chance, honestly. Frankly I'm a little surprised at least one of the emperors didn't die to Nico, I fully expected him to kill Caligula to avenge Jason the first time I read the series. But Nico going for a killing blow the second he's given the chance and only failing because Nero manages to yeet him into a wall before it lands is everything to me.

okay i know we’re all laughing at wupid (thats what im calling cupid will because its funny) pulling up in nicos dream with the worst outfit known to mankind. and its hilarious i laughed out loud when i read it but like. now i think about it its kinda giving me brain worms. bc listen. when nico liked percy he painted him as like this ideal perfect savior. the quintessential hero. and this view was destructive for them both. but like… nico’s idealized version of will that the literal god of romance comes up with is wearing such a shitty corny outfit. nico’s “perfect man” isnt some muscled hero in golden armor thatll come and save him from the monsters, its his bf in a gag gift he gave him and well-loved camo shorts because he loves will for an entirely different reason to why he loved percy. nico doesnt love what he THINKS will is… he loves will because he KNOWS him, down to his essentials, down to the awful fits he wears and the way his voice is warm. i know im DEFINITELY looking too far into this but

i always see so much of Nico ships where either Nico is the one pining or the focus is almost completely on Nico pining and i feel like we’re missing a lot of opportunity here. Where’s the inverse? Where’s the POVs from [other character(s) of ship] of them falling hard for Nico and just absolutely losing their mind pining over him because he’s so impossible to read that they can’t tell at all if he likes them back or not. Them doing some complicated social dance cause they cannot for the LIFE of them figure out Nico but they’re trying so hard until they finally just tell him outright and find out Nico has liked them back this entire time and they lose their mind just a little bit more. WHERE IS IT.

if there’s one thing I REFUSE to accept as cannon is Persephone not seeing Nico, THE wet cat and being the best damn step mom ever. He lost his mom, his sister and was living underground. I mean, you’re telling me she looked at the walking corpse that was 11 year old Nico di Angelo and deciding that she hated him. Really?

No, if Maria di Angelo would’ve lived the only head canon I’ll ever accept is that she and Persephone would be best friends and Nico, Bianca and Hazel would have the best mom and stepmom.

Like sure, she turned him into a plant, but she’s the goddess of Spring, you can’t tell me she doesn’t turn everyone who mildly annoy her into plants.

do you think nico and hades are cool with each other these days? would hades helo Nico if nico really needeed it?

Oh absolutely - I think their interactions in HoO (and again, see my like 5 different posts about Nico being guaranteed immortality after his death by Hades) pretty solidly confirm that. Them being on solidly good terms seems to start during the Battle of Manhattan - when Nico brings reinforcements in the form of Hades, Persephone, and Demeter. They seem to have mostly sorted out their disagreements and understand where each other are at, and by the end of TLO we see them generally being on good terms. By HoO they're actively communicating more, we see Hades giving Nico advice, offering him reassurance in BoO, etc etc.

I'd even go so far as to say Nico seems to also be on relatively good terms with Persephone now as well. Heck in TLO he even seemed on decent terms with Demeter, which is kind of fascinating in my opinion since we really only see them somewhat interact once.

Nico's really interesting in that regard to me because he's probably the demigod who is on good terms with the most deities we know of, or at least those deities view him favorably even if Nico is iffy on them. He's on good terms with his dad and step-mom, and seems to be on decent terms with Demeter. He's explicitly friends with Apollo and Hestia. If you want to count Iapetus/Bob, Nico is friends with him too. Dionysus is literally his therapist. Heck, Cupid even has a personal interest in him for whatever reason and after beating him up basically goes "good job, kid!" and it's implied they met a long time ago and HoH isn't their first interaction. Achlys (while being ominous) says Nico is "perfect" (because of his suffering, but at the same time she says it in a way that seems to be that she's praising that attribute of his and doesn't attack him or anything. So I like to go out on a limb and say she views Nico favorably). There's some implication that while Nico is personally iffy on the Hunters they don't view him negatively. And according to Un Natale Mezzosangue Nico is on even friendly terms with the Etruscan god Charu.

But yeah, re: your question, it is basically canon already that Hades would help out Nico if he's able to and Nico needs it.

Theory that Nico’s tendency to fall dead asleep could be a physical strain (his powers) then later became a mental defense mechanism too - he was always just at the brink of losing it so his mind decided that just shutting down is the only way to prevent more harm.
