A Persona Cataclysm RP Blog.Ripped from his 'normal' life as a preacher by Contractus Incorporated, Adnunt wants to see Contractus Incorporated brought to justice, but he desires a return to his normal life more deeply. While he no longer sees a reason to preach, the socialite still retains a niche interest in religions. He is also a go-to guy for the functional navigations and/or communications equipment within his communications backpack.

“You almost got all of it, but it’s a hotsy-totsy resort where people from all over the multiverse are gathered.” Sure that might make this man only want to drink more, but it was a very important thing to know.
Then again, seeing a living statue talking to him might make him want to drink even more too.
“So.”
“Let me get this all straight.”
“My nephew wasn’t pulling my leg and all this persona crap is actually real, plus now I’m in some hotsy-totsy alpine ski resort full of demons to help save the universe.”
“.. I need a drink.”

Adnunt laughs a bit at the dragons part. “Dragons flying between planets sounds it’d make for a very intriguing fantasy space travel story. I won’t deny that it could happen in some universe, but what’s usually used for travel between planets are spaceships, fully enclosed flying vehicles.” He pauses for a moment then adds, “Those other planets don’t necessarily have space travel either. It’s quite possible that life independently evolved on them, with the sheer number of planets in the galaxy.”
Well, as it turns out, Adnunt did softly correct the mage, not necessarily denying that it could happen, but pointing him to what was more likely nonetheless. “I’m not all that surprised, honestly. With magic being what you know best, it’s no wonder you love to explore what magic could possibly do.” After the childish remark, he assures the mage with: “I see this as the mark of an inquisitive soul, rather than childishness. Don’t worry, you’re not coming off as such to me.”
Well, okay, Adnunt had to admit it was kinda cute, but he had the decency not to point that out to someone worried about such a thing. “Well, one possible thing is the electronics short-circuiting, which is when electricity crosses a gap between wires it wasn’t supposed to and flows without resistance. Which is a bad thing, since it drains the power source faster.”
Golem Legends (Closed - Adnut)
“Probably because those kingdoms aren’t on the same continent or planet as yours. Or even in the same universe. Fictional tales of such kingdoms are also a thing, although they probably exist in a universe somewhere as well.” Part of him wondered if the other knew what the word ‘planet’ meant, although he had large doubts they knew what the term ‘universe’ meant. And he started to get the sinking feeling he might end up in another lengthy discussion.
He does smile though at his remarks about electricity. “Quite possibly, yes. I’ve seen worlds where magic is blended with technology to accomplish very impressive things.” He chuckles as he brings up saving the world. “Yes, that is the end goal in mind, but it’s not like we can’t have friendly discussions.”
He lets out a brief chuckle at the question. “No, not at all. As for the motors… well, parts breaking is generally a bad thing. How bad depends on the electronic in question.”

fight Certa
“How about no? She’s a symbol of hope amongst the Cuniculators, I’m not going to fight that. Not unless something happens to where she no longer is one.”

Adnunt notes her hesitation but doesn’t pry, simply returning the bow a little further than she did. He figured she probably had a lot of questions, and he didn’t blame her. Not that he wouldn’t be willing to answer them. He was the social sort after all.
“I understand. Golems seem to be more common than Effigies in the multiverse, for whatever reason.” He actually smiles at the question about the effigies, although he understood why she was hesitant.
“Well, there’s lots of places we could start. For one effigies don’t need to eat or drink, and in fact can’t. We do need sleep though, but do so by standing perfectly still. We also have our own nonverbal language that consists of subtle movements, and our own form of sign language as well. Perhaps you’d like to know about their culture or places they live in?”
Adnunt was very much a socalite, and thanks to his role as a Comms that hadn’t diminished one bit during his service to Contractus Incorporated. He was used to meeting people in all sorts of different ways too, but seeing this lady almost bump into her, and then stare awkwardly, did catch him by surprise.
The evident interest didn’t, however. She’d be the third or fourth to express such interest at this point. And at this point he was all but certain she thought he was a golem, but he didn’t need to point that one out. “I’m an Effigy, or at least that’s what my original race was. They’re shapeshifting living statues, capable of perfectly mimicking all kinds of statues and other depictions of people.” He trailed off for a moment, not particularly wanting to mention the form limiter he had installed in his body. As much as he needed it, he held a strong distaste for it too.
“Also, I’m Adnunt, communications specialist. Who might you be?”

As it happened, the person Ange asked was actually a regular visitor of the local library, and was carrying a tarp-covered book in one hand, with the tarp keeping the snow from damaging it. Although the fact he was one might not have been immediately apparent, with him looking like a living statue and all. “It’s right over there,” he gestures with his free arm. “Are you new here? Haven’t seen your face around before.”

Ange Ushiromiya definitely wasn’t the type who wanted to stand out. Rather, she wanted to just discover the truth about what happened to her family and go from there. It was interesting to have awoken in a place called Cataclysm, amused by the fact that it was a fitting name for where she ended up, at least for her. The place seemed peaceful, but she couldn’t say the same for her soul. Perhaps this would be a good place to start the journey that dream wanted her to go on and her own personal journey to know the truth.
With the Key in her pocket and Maria’s diary in hand, Ange stepped outside, taking in the snowy landscape. She supposed she should begin her journey by perhaps trying to make a connection with someone, and it seemed there was a figure up ahead. “Um, excuse me… could you direct me to a library or something similar?” she called out to the person as she approached them.

How would you react if you were flesh and blood?
Adnunt shudders. “Likely very badly.... between having to stay warm, having to eat and drink, and having to breath... I would likely end up forgetting at least one of those...”

"Don’t ask me, I’d be among the least likely to know. I might be able to guess who would know, though.” The cyborg animate statue didn’t look like he could get any benefit out of smoking.
“Now, if I was a pack of cigarettes…”
“Where would I be hidin’..?”

It didn’t take much to put two and two together that she was very wary about talking about her life before the cataclysm, at least to him. “Certa’s been waiting for much of the same. I myself have few preferences either way, only that I don’t get myself too injured.”
“Not at all,” he says, beginning to walk alongside her. He listens to her description and nods. “Probably not, or at the very least you weren’t directly involved.”
“Yeah, same here. I remember hearing about a ‘Standard Template Earth’ the Multiverse Exploration Corps from my universe has established. Only got a vague idea of what it is, but I think they’ve established it because they’ve come across so many earths? It might just be because there’s a lot of universes that have a version of Earth in them.”
Adnunt let out a sigh of relief at that. “At least we got that one cleared up.” He had an idea of how to explain those suffixes, but decided not to. It wasn’t as if it would be relevant to other words she might come across.
He listens intently as she talks about the jobs she’s tried. “Just doesn’t feel like home?” he inquires, honestly curious as to what exactly she was feeling. And sometimes feelings could be pretty hard to nail down.
Of course, Adnunt knew he was talking about an adult, but the problem was communicating that across, especially when he didn’t pick up on that concern. “He’s human, and I’m not entirely sure of what universe he comes from but it seems to be centered on a version of Earth with megacorporations that run games between the various lineages to see who will be the next heir. At least that’s the backdrop of the story he told Certa.”

It was Adnunt’s concern, both for Certa and what he’d say about her, that lead him to attentively listen. The way he spoke suggested the shadows were more of a threat than either of them initially thought. Intrigue was clearly visible on his face as he waited for the other finish speaking before asking, “Do you have experience with these shadows? It sounds like you’re making them out to be particularly dangerous.”
“As for your question, perhaps have her plan out any expeditions outside of town with your guidance? It’d give her something to do and you could advise her on how dangerous it’d be as well. Although I have a feeling the answer to my first question might be the knowledge she needs to weigh against before taking on such risks, even if she’s already learned some of it the hard way.”
Reminiscence (Closed - Adnut)
His gaze moved over to Togami as he was hailed, and knowing his position as the leader he stopped walking. There was a bit of a frown on his face as his associate–Certa, no doubt–was mentioned. “Yes? What is it?”

“Well I did sign the contract, but I’m not involved in the process of handing them out…” A weird, awkward look crosses his face. “I get the feeling we’ve been thinking of different meanings of that word. I think I just cleared that up, though. Hopefully.”
“Well, there are always jobs to be had, for treasures too. I know Certa’s been working at a mechanic’s shop to pass the time. She’s a little frustrated with the low-tech nature of the tools but she’s been managing. She’d more rather have the job than not though. I myself am looking into seeing if I can get better cellular reception like the device in my backpack going, although I’m consulting with Certa in my spare time as she actually has the knowledge to build it.”
“Well, you probably should meet up with him soon. He’s the… self-declared leader of the group, and he’s honestly doing a much better job at it than Certa could. And he isn’t exactly pleasant…” He considers adding the ‘Or at least he tries not to be’, but leaves it off, figuring he has an image he’d like to uphold for whatever reason.

Adnunt chuckles a little. “I haven’t actually, it’s more of the case of hearing unrelated tales with similar elements to what you’ve described. Not a bad guess though.” He was quite polite with the correction, after all educating people was more important than deriding them for not knowing.
“Electronics work without getting shocked because the wiring keeps the electricity well-contained. Generally not as much electricity is going through the system at any given time as is used for an electric spell, but the electricity is typically used for a longer duration. At least that’s how terrestrial electronics work, I don’t fully understand the mechanics behind the electronics aquatic races have built.”
“A motor getting burnt out in a cybernetic would be kinda like having cut muscles,” Adnunt says, “The electricity would simply flow to the other working components instead, which may or may not be helpful.”

“Holy shit,” Lyra breaths after skidding to a stop and almost toppling over. Ordinarily the first thing she’d be worried about is her skirt, but it’s the second thing she worries about this time—second to the living golem just walking around on the streets.
Golems and androids and robots always interested Lyra; in another world where she hadn’t been blessed with abnormally potent magic powers, she could see herself perhaps pursuing a career working with them. But she knew well the development of them for the military. And they hadn’t come close to resembling a human in reasoning ability yet.
“Uh.” Would it be rude to bother him? Then again, he—it? she? they?—seems to have noticed her already, not a particularly impressive feat considering how… obvious her interest is by now. “How… exactly do you work? Oh, and what’s your name?”

“It helps when you’ve got a sizeable amount of data storage in your backpack,” he replies, although soon he headtilted a bit too. “Do you think I’m a contractor?” He knew he wasn’t, but he didn’t quite know if she thought he was.
“I see. Bit of cabin fever, perhaps? At least you’ve got enough sense in you to avoid doing that… that and Twogami would probably yell at you if you did, assuming you got back… have you met him already?”

Adnunt waved back to her when she saw Clarissa at the edge of the veil. He was curious what she was doing there, but considering she was just standing there, he wasn’t too worried. “Yes, and you’d be Clarissa if I remembered correctly?” he asks.
He had a bit of a smile on his face too. “Checking in on the other parts of town and keeping tabs on where everyone is to make sure they’re accounted for. And so I can get a rescue party organized if they’re not. What about you?” he asks, looking into the veil.

Adnunt ahs and smiles. “Kind of like the classical depictions of wizards, I see. It is good to know that’s how your magical system works. There are many different magic systems, believe it or not, but that’s a tangential point to my explanation.”
He took a moment to mull over the other’s question. “I’d say yes and no, yes in that the energy used is the same, no in that it’s typically conducted in wires and circuitry rather than through magic, and produced by generators instead.” Now to lead into the cybernetics part a bit more.
“Motors are another electronic component, that produce spinning forces through electromagnetism. Anywhere where rotational motion could be useful, a motor can be used. While not electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders are ways of producing back and forth motion, typically attached to pivot points on either end, and can be triggered electronically. Both of these can be used to produce human-like motion for cybernetics, but motors tend to be the predominant method.”
#elwindmage#I was considering procrastinating on this but the first part caught my attention enough I wanted to reply to this.

Reminiscence (Closed - Adnut)
After thoroughly scolding and putting the point they needed to make across to the individual they’d wanted to talk to today, they felt that with such reckless behavior as the madam had done…her closest friend here should be informed. If any of their own friends that they didn’t know of being here got into reckless trouble, they knew they too, would want to know so they could check on them.
Yes, they knew the male had worryingly been…not all that concerned when they informed they, ‘Byakuya Togami’ about her being in the mines in the first place. Yet a leader strived to ensure to enable good communication and help others, and besides that. Perhaps the other would have an idea on how to prevent the girl doing such reckless things alone again, should that possibility be a distinct one.
As exasperating as it was, they had the feeling it was. They couldn’t afford to sit and wait like before when they spoke to the madam - this time, they were outright looking around for the other.
Upon spotting the other after some time looking around the town, they attempted to hail the male down.
“Oy, oy…you there. Stop in your walking. I have something I need to discuss with you concerning your…associate.”
