he would AT LEAST have a few broken bones and a mild case of hypothermia. There’s no possible way he would be walking around a couple of days afterwards without some sort of chronic pain or lasting mental problems.

I mean, HE CROSSES THE BRIDGE ONLY TWO DAYS AFTER HE NEARLY DIED?????

I mean, on the one hand, this scene happens in the same universe where spirit channeling and ghosts canonically exist, so I guess I can’t expect complete realism, but still.

I also love how Loid is standing up and looking towards the light, while Franky is doing the complete opposite, (sitting and looking to the darkness).

We know how Franky deserted his post, not wanting to fight anymore. He gave up, and seemingly doesn't want to go on anymore which could symbolise the darkness we see.

But Loid is standing upright, he hasn't given up yet. He's still fighting for what he believes is right. He's looking to the light, to the future.

Loid backstory arc analysis part one: the colored page

the following analysis contains manga spoilers. You have been warned

so, the very first page you see when you open manga volume ten is this

the text beneath the mission number reads: Chotto serious, page ooi, ganbatte oyomikudasai

now, using a translator, this means: “there are a lot of serious pages (in this chapter) please read” which is something along the lines of a content warning I suppose.

now, onto the art itself; it’s absolutely breathtaking. My version unfortunately did not come with the colored version, but it’s still gorgeous and depressing at the same time. At first, I thought the person sitting on the right was young twilight, but seeing as the person is smoking, and the shape of the head, it’s Franky, and this is either some sort of reframing of their fateful meeting, or meant to be more symbolic, possibly about how twilight “sees the light”

the rest of it seems pretty self explanatory. It’s Twilight and Franky amidst the rubble, which is what leads me to believe that this isn’t a reimagining of their meeting, as they met in a forests

now, the question is…is it a sunrise or a sunset? I’m serious, because the sun rises from the east and sets to the west. If it’s setting, it means he’s looking towards home, and if it’s rising, it means he’s looking toward the enemy, as young Roland was wont to do

alright, now let’s get on to the proper meat of the story.

i used to be reinaaaaaaa, but I didn’t really like it, so I made the decision to change it to the one I have now because it fits me more.

and my old pfp used to be one of loid in his bandanna making breakfast for Yor and Anya. (I hope that’s the one you’re talking about, because I’ve had many more) i just thought that if I was changing my username, I might as well switch a few things up a little. thinking about a twiyor eden academy au where loid is the older brother of anya and yor is still yuri’s older sister, but loid sucks at understanding little kids (which puts a strain on him and anya’s relationship) and yor is god awful at cooking (which puts her and yuri in significant danger), so loid and yor make a pact to help each other out in the areas which they struggle in and maybe fall in love in the process

how it feels to have an entire scene written out before you've even gotten to its canon place in the fic

Personally speaking, as someone has not lost their parents but many of the people that are close to me have, I very much hate the way sxf fans talk about Anya and her relationship to Yor and Loid.

Now I have accepted the fact that canon is not going to do much with Anya (or any of the characters) status as an orphan as it was only really done for the sake of convenience and never meant to hold much weight in the first place. It only really bothers me when it comes to fandom spaces because I guess I just expect better.

I particularly hate the way Anya's mother is treated. She's always positioned as some God like figure that Yor is in competition with Loid's heart and the irony (I suppose) is that she doesn't exist but Yor doesn't know that so she doesn't know she's actually important to Anya or whatever.

What I want to focus on is the idea that Yor would feel as if she is in competition with Anya's birth mother. Because Yor has a very rare and unique experience that should completely change the way she views Anya's birth mother and should heavily inform the way she interacts with Anya.

And that is the fact that Yor's mother is also dead.

Yor knows what it is like to grow up without a mother. It is one trait she shares with Anya a common experience that most people do not have that puts her in the position to understand Anya is a way most people cannot and yet people treat it like it's a bad thing.

One day, she had her mother the next day she didn't, and she had to go through the grieving process and teenhood and adulthood without her own mother alone with little to no guidance. To this day, Yor struggles with some many things that most women/people don't because she had to raise herself. Not only that, but she also saw how it affected her brother, who was the same age as Anya (a bit old, but you get my point). She intimately knows what it is like to grow up without your parents

So why in God's name would she look at young girl who could have easily gone through life very similarly to her, a girl who at random she has been given the opportunity to save and allow her to have the childhood and protect her innocence in a way she was not afforded, a girl whos anger, confusion, frustration and reservations she can understand on such a deep and personal level and feel jealous?

Of all the emotions she can feel towards Anya's mother? Jealousy? Envy? Covet?

And it's all because of a man? A MAN? A MAN SHE DOESN'T EVEN LOVE AND ONLY MARRIED TO GET THE POLICE OFF HER ASS BECUSSE SHE IS A SERIAL KILLER?

A woman died at such a young age, leaving her only child without a mother, by the grace of God her father wasn't a complete buffoon, and you want me to believe Yor the Saint is going to look at her with jealousy so you can make you shitty twiyor moments. Fuck off.

Like I don't mind women being jealous of other women. Yor is a canonically very insecure woman, so I can not put it past her to feel some envy over Loid's first wife, but keep Anya out of it. Unless you're going with the evil step mom route, just leave her out. Yall can be delulu about Twiyor all you want but do not drag an innocent (non existent) woman into your nonsense. Don't waste my time like that.

Hear me out, guys, this is going to be kind of a long post, but I’m about to start cooking right now.

(spoilers for the manga btw sorry)

Okay, so we all know how Loid/ Twilight looks. If you scroll down, I’ve included some pictures of him (yes, I edited them).

Notice how he’s almost always drawn with angular features such as his jawline. (as seen by the red lines)

This is effective in showcasing his age and his experiences. Those angular features aren’t just for show—they subtly hint at his overall sharp personality and demeanour.

I mean, when is he NOT drawn with that iconic chiselled jawline?

But I do want to draw your attention to something.

We all (manga readers) know the story of [REDACTED].

And we all know that iconic heart-breaking panel of him crying once he realises his childhood friends survived the attack on his home town.

But look at this...

These three panels were all taken from his backstory arc, and notice how instead of his face being very angular and sharp, it is now rounded and softer than his usual jawline.

He almost looks like a child in these drawings, especially the first one where his face is considerably shorter.

Kinda like a squishy version of Loid.

When 'Loid' was reunited with his friends, it took him back. Back to a time when he didn't have to worry about the war, only playing pretend. For a moment, he was [REDACTED] again. For a moment, everything was ok.

And when he was drafted for W.I.S.E, (middle picture), he was finally able to leave the battleground, but he looks noticeably tired and young.

It only makes sense. His entire childhood was stolen from him. He became an orphan at presumably Anyas age, forced to raise himself from the ground up before joining the war at only 16 years.

His brain may have aged, but his body sure didn't. He's basically a 30 yo trapped in a body years too young for him.

Now, I expected people to say, "Well, of course, he looks younger. He's only 17/18 years old compared to his age in the main story."

Then take a look at these.

Both of these scenes happened before the previous ones, proving that it is not his physical age that contributes to the change in his face, but his mental age.
