Remember the purpose of the holidays.
By Terry James Dee
It's that time of year again when we celebrate the holidays. We give, whether gifts or meals, so that we can be with our friends and family.
But during the festivities, there can be things that are not so much fun, such as spending money and stress.
Please remember that the holidays should be celebrated with love and kindness toward one another. The stories that we reminisce about from childhood or other events.
The point is that it isn't about how much money you spend or material things. It's about spending time with people we cherish and enjoying time together.

It is with profound sadness to announce that the 39th President of the United States, James E. Carter is now entering hospice care. He has been a good man that has helped forge many achievements such as the Camp David Accords, and he was instrumental in changing the Office of the Vice Presidency, along with his Vice President at the time, Walter F. Mondale.
He is a great humanitarian helping with Habitat for Humanity and was a staunch advocate of human rights.
May he find comfort and fulfillment at this moment.

Aaron Carter has died today at the age of 34. He was the younger brother of Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys.
I had the opportunity to meet Aaron on more than a few occasions. He was always nice and he appreciated the support of his fans. Carter had so much talent as a singer.
Not only was he a singer, but he was also an actor playing in movies and had a role in the television series, “7th Heaven.” Tragically, he died too young at only 34. May he RIP.

You’ll be noticing some changes in the future. It has always been my interest to help others to make a presence.
What exactly do I mean? I’ve always enjoyed assisting people with branding, forming a business, and getting a footing on the World Wide Web.
It’s funny how life has us go into all kinds of directions, but in a nutshell, we wind up coming back to what really matters to us.
All I know is that I’ve always been interested in communications, technology, and the telephone. Put these three elements together — well, it can really make a profound difference.
You can start a business with any name you want to give it, but when you really put the ingenuity into it, you can make it standout from your competition and people will take notice of it.
Stay tuned, and you’ll see what I’m cracking at soon. After all, you can crack an egg, but if you don’t add some seasoning to it — well it’s just a plain egg. I strive to be a good egg, and to put a smile on people’s faces. Until then, try to make a difference in someone’s life, and be positive to a crazy world.

It’s unfortunate to report the passing of former WGN television anchor Allison Payne.
She was a nine-time Emmy Award winner and was an anchor for Chicago’s Very Own WGN-TV for two decades.
Payne was part of the group of African-American women that made a difference in television journalism and was a role model for many women during her time as a journalist.
Her warm presence on camera and her love for Chicago were embedded in all she brought to the news. In 2011, she parted ways with WGN-TV due to health reasons. Payne had many mini-strokes during the time.
Colleagues commented about how much she gave to others and would give advice on journalism to young professional women.
Payne suffered from alcoholism and depression. Her cause of death is unknown. She was 57. May she Rest In Peace.

Today we celebrate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 that happened in New York City, at the Pentagon and United Flight 93, in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
There were so many innocent lives taken that day. I can remember being a college student at the time and watching in disbelief the one plane hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center. And, very shortly thereafter, another airplane hit the South Tower. It was then that I knew something wasn’t right.
We who saw that tragic day know precisely where we were and what we were doing. Just like past events, such as what happened on November 22, 1963, when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. These events are embedded in our minds and we never forget them.
We must never forget this tragic day and remember those who lost their lives. We also need to thank all of those that sacrificed so much to save lives on that day.

On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, is the date for the California Recall Election.
Californians have the chance to make a difference in this recall election. It’s not just an election that will affect the state, but, in my view, it will also undoubtedly have national implications.
The last time a California Recall Election was held was in 2003, when then-Governor Gray Davis was recalled in an election that dealt with the electric grid and other economic woes that were at play in the Golden State at the time.
As a person who has followed politics, I have always been fascinated with California politics since the days of former Governor Pete Wilson, and I have keenly followed them faithfully since that time.
I am sending this message to urge Californians to vote no and against the recall. Now is not the time to replace the Governor in Sacramento as we have many issues that are facing the state and we need someone who has the experience and know-how to get through these urgent issues.
If we look at the recall that resulted in then-Governor Gray Davis being thrown out of office in 2003, people have come to his defense to state that he made the right decisions when it came to the situation with the electric grid and trying to prevent huge spikes in electricity at the time.
Governor Gavin Newsom has made his share of mistakes, just like anyone else has, but he has been willing to admit when he has made errors in judgment and has vowed to learn from them.
With the fires that are raging and destroying so much land in the state, we need to have a Governor who will seriously deal with global warming and believes in science to get real solutions done.
COVID-19 has seriously harmed the state, particularly in Los Angeles, and with the Delta variant and others forming, we need to have a Governor who is going to do all in his earnest to try to save lives and who will solicit the help of medical experts to make proper decisions as to what steps need to be taken to help protect Angelinos and the rest of the state.
In terms of the entertainment industry, we need to have a Governor that is going to invest in the industries that make California the light for so many to start their acting and entertainment careers in Hollywood. This is what makes the state vibrant and sets it apart from the rest of the country.
As previously stated, this recall election has national implications. Dianne Feinstein is the current United States Senator in the state, and if she, for some reason, were unable to finish her term, that would make it possible for whomever is Governor at the time to choose a replacement, and this would have a huge impact on the direction of the state.
No matter what happens, California will have a national presence and it has always played a key part in national policy. Please do the right thing and vote no on the recall and let Gavin Newsom finish out his term in the state.

It’s such a tragedy the recent death of TikTok star Anthony Barajas from a senseless killing at a movie theatre. He was only 19 years old.
He was one of two people shot during a screening of “The Forever Purge,” at the Regal Edwards Theatre located in Corona, California. The location is approximately 50 miles from Los Angeles.
He was a popular TikTok star and it’s unfortunate to have to see this happen to someone at such a young age.
