I really hate this. Habitat for Humanity has done so much for low-income people in my area. I have a parent who works for them. He's on the ground providing supplies and working with people facing homelessness to find sustainable shelter and income. He's done great work for so many people by working with Habitat for Humanity. He's inspired me to volunteer with them myself in the past. Every day, they do so much for OKC; reading about this is so sad. I really want to encourage others and myself as well to get more involved with ground-level action if they are able.

On Wednesday, Citibank revealed in a court filing that it was told to freeze Habitat for Humanity’s bank accounts, at the FBI’s request. The reason? The FBI alleges that the group is involved in “possible criminal violations,” including “conspiracy to defraud the United States.” Habitat for Humanity, you may recall, is the group that builds low-income houses in America’s communities. Jimmy Carter worked with them for decades. What did they do to earn the FBI’s ire? They received a climate grant from the Biden administration’s EPA. Other nonprofits also being targeted by the FBI for receiving climate grants include the Appalachian Community Capital Corporation, the Coalition for Green Capital, and the DC Green Bank. Yet these groups’ applications for government grants for environmental work were fully reviewed and accepted by the Biden administration’s EPA. This is not fraud. It’s targeted harassment. And it will be viewed that way by most Americans.

A sad farewell to President Jimmy Carter who passed away at the age of 100. He is the first US president to become a centenarian.

James Earl Carter Jr. (October 1, 1924 – December 29, 2024) was an American politician and humanitarian who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981 (shown above in the Oval Office in 1978). A Democrat, he is the longest-lived president in U.S. history and since leaving office won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his peace-keeping negotiations and humanitarian work.
