Are they wildly different universes. Yes.
Has Matt Reeves specifically said he's not interested in doing a cinematic universe? Yes.
Are these takes on the characters stark differences of each other? Yes.
Do these two still fit together perfectly, and their differences are exactly what they SHOULD BE for a "the Worlds Finest" team up? YES.
#Like logically I know it's not gonna happen and we're also getting a new Batman#But c'mon#The Batman was so good and would've been the PERFECT way to start of the new DCU.#Although I respect Matt Rieves and gis opinion I can't Lie and say I'm not a tad disappointed that Pattinsons Batman#Will never get to meet Corroswets Superman#Batman#Superman#Dc#james gunn#james gunn dcu#Dcu#Superman legacy#The Batman#matt reeves#the batman 2022

I love the thesis of this show. The fact that the main villains are government leaders, members of the upper class, and a colonizer who believes he is justified and above all else. That law does not equate morality. Clark wishes to help the criminals he faces, never to commit violence but to ensure a future for them. Lois learns some of the most important lessons of her life from someone most would perceive as evil. Clark is willing to put himself in harms way to save strangers who would kill him, and feels intense rage at those who wish to pave a path in blood. "Love is not for cowards".

I just realised something horrifically sad.
The Doctor took Rose and her family home to Peter's world at the end of Series 4.
The Doctor wasn't there to save the universe from Sutekh's gift of death.
Which means the Tardis landed there...
Rose Tyler, her entire family, and the Metacrisis Doctor are all dust...
#This makes total sense right? There's no way for Tentoo to fight Sutekh#Especially without a tardis!#Maybe he could've worked with UNIT and thought of something#But I'm not sure...#Doctor who#Rose Tyler#Tentoo#RTD#russel t davies#Doctor who series 4#The doctor#sutekh

If my future wife won't allow me to name my future baby by wearing a big cloak and pointing menicingly at a street sign, I'm not having a kid.
i'm dying over that reveal. truly. truly. because on paper, the concept that ruby's mother was just an ordinary person and what made her so special was this belief everyone had feeding into her own mythology, creating something larger than life, is actually pretty cool. and, yeah, from wild blue yonder we know the doctor absolutely handed the power of suggestion over to an unknown entity that made it something tangible.. so it works.
sort of
but like. that 15 year old girl decided to drop her baby off at a church in the middle of the night in the most ostentatious, medieval looking cloak and then proceed to point mencingly at the road sign on the off chance the security camera would pick her up and that would somehow give someone the idea to name her daughter after said road sign??
i'm just saying... if that's the way you handle giving your baby up for adoption then there is absolutely nothing ordinary about you
#In all seriousness#I could get on board with Ruby's mother just being a random woman#But when you hype her up EVERY SINGLE EPISODE FOR A 9 EPISODE SEASON#You can't be surprised when people go#“well that was disappointing”

Trying to hype up, and make me care about Mrs Flood being a mystery, after you've just told me "Ruby's mystery mom = no payoff" is ballsy.
#What is RTD cooking?#I really hope we get some more answers about what was going on with Ruby#The snow#The song??#No answers?#Ok I guess.

100% this. If you spend a whole season (a season rushed and cut in half mind you, but still a season) telling your audience about how interesting and important and super special someone is going to be, and then the big twist is "lol, just kidding, the important thing is the friends we made along the way", you can't be surprised when a big portion of the fandom feels disappointed.
Personally I enjoyed a lot of the episode, but unfortunately the third act was a major let down. The episode had a lot of brilliant acting moments, and I love Ncuti and Millie together, but the conclusions felt... Rushed? Like they had to cut a lot of the bigger reveals, to save them for a later season, or abandoned them?
I hope we're getting better answers, because right now, I'm left with what essentially feels like plot holes.
You know I think the ruby’s mum just being an ordinary person ‘twist’ was Russell’s attempt to take the rey twist from Last Jedi and do it better and while I do think it is better handled here than in Last Jedi, it still feels like kind of a let down because some weird time loopy paradoxical bullshit involving the 73 yards timeline would have been way more interesting 👀
#Why did she make it snow?#What's the deal with the song in her heart?#Why are you trying to make me care about Mrs Flood when you've just told me mystery woman = no payoff#Doctor who#Doctor who spoilers

Finally updated my Tumblr. Honestly a bit sad, moving in from the Marauders theme I've had for the better half of a decade, but seeing as Doctor Who is a much more inclusive and lovely franchise to dedicate my theme too, it feels like a nice change.
Almost like my blog regenerated ❤️
#Idk how much I'm gonna blog#But might turn this into my on again-off again diary when I need it#Thanks to everyone who stuck around ❤️
