the curse if being a fanfic writer then trying to read fanfic is that you're constantly getting new ideas. "I hate this au, but how would I write it so that I'd like it?"
New fic idea.
"Man I love this premise. What would I do with it?"
New fic idea.
over and over and over again for eternity.
meanwhile the WIPs that are open are crying because I haven't touched them in weeks.
#it's such a problem#especially because if it's a long fic idea I NEED to stay hyperfocused on it to write but oops new hyperfixation!#aka yet another reason that sfos has yet to update#I'm working on it I promise#but new fic ideaaaaaa#rambling

Oh my god I love that so much. They see Tommy and huddle up like “that’s mortal right?” “He looks mortal shaped” “he’s got blood and looks squishy.” “He also looks really young. Is he a young mortal?” “Oh my god poor thing he’s young and all alone, we should take him in and make him not mortal.”
Meanwhile Tommy’s there, can hear everything and just goes along with it for the bit. I mean, he’s a fae, trickery is his job. He’ll tell them later, it’s fineee
SBI but everyone's been touched by death each in unique ways. Kristin is the Goddess of Death, Philza is her right-hand man, her angel. Wilbur is some ship of theseus zombie fuck who keeps replacing his body parts (he's held together with necromancy and far too much duct tape). And Techno who's a good ol' fashioned vampire.
Tommy is 16 and very mortal. Somehow, the immortal chucklefucks are his family, not biologically he just got picked up like a stray cat one day and now won't fucking leave (not that anyone wants him to).
The gag here is simple: All of them keep trying to convince him to die, or more aptly, they keep trying to kill him, so that he'll join them in death.
Kristin and Phil promise him immortality if Tommy gives Kristin his soul, she'll make him her undying servant the same as Phil.
Wilbur keeps trying to convince Tommy that slowly replacing his body parts with slightly fresher ones is the way to go and it's going to be all the rage with the undead crowd one of these days. He's been saying that for 500 years. It will never catch on. Everyone in the immortal and undead community view him as a freak of nature who shouldn't be alive or have lived half as long as he has.
Techno keeps trying to convince Tommy that giving up ever seeing the sun is a perfect trade for immortality and all the cool powers vampirism gives you.
And Tommy will one day take one of them up on their offer off immortality. Not Wilbur's offer, but when he's older he'll decide between become a vampire or Kristin's angel and he'll join his family.

Today's fic friday is about: Money Can't Buy Happiness
MCBH was born from a whump prompt I saw on tumblr and like my other fics I could talk about everything I'd change now but that's fucking boring. So let's talk about the wider implications and also the sequel that's somewhere deep in my google drive.
Specifically, the dynamic of Kristin and Wilbur vs Phil and Tecchno.
Kristin is the Queen, Wilbur is the Prince and to the world outside the castle Phil and Techno are nothing more than their loyal guards, and slaves.
Like, it's kind of an open secret that Prince Wilbur and later Prince Tommy are Phil's sons. But if anyone were to voice that, well Kristin's the queen and that kind of accusation is an act of treason and treason means death. So no one says shit.
But like, it's pretty obvious, but even though it's obvious Phil and Techno are both hybrids, second class citizens, third class citizens really because they're legally property.
And the implications, oh the implications of first Techno and then Tommy not understanding what the fuck is going on because no one fucking explains it.
Techno who was bought but only after Phil pointed out every little flaw he could find to knock down the price. He doesn't understand that Phil's trying to help, that he had to bring down the price somehow so that he could buy Techno on Kristin's behalf. Then he's stuck thinking that the Queen will realize that he's as useless as Phil made him out to be and throw him out.
Prince Wilbur is covered in gold and despite the Queen and Phil being nice to him, giving him his own room, nice clothes and food from the neather Techno doesn't have any gold. They give Wilbur so much, but he's not given any so they must hate him or are waiting for him to fuck up so that they can get rid of him once and for all, maybe sell him to someone else. It gets cleared up eventually, he gets his gold and starts to feel like they won't throw him out.
Tommy's own misunderstanding of the dynamic was going to be explored in the sequel. A five year old who doesn't understand why his big brother Technoblade and his father stop smiling and hugging him when other people are around, how they call him Prince Theseus when ten minutes ago they were calling him Tommy and he was sitting in Techno's lap while he read him a story.
He gets so upset when he tries to hug Techno in the market but Techno doesn't return the hug, he just stands still and lets it happen. It's the same with Phil he'll give Tommy a little pat on the shoulder or carry him when he's tired but it's not the same as when it's just them. He's still so formal, he called Tommy by his full name and while he's still smiling it lacks that love and familiarity it has when it's just the family.
I was going to have someone eventually sit down with Tommy and explain it all in child friendly terms, I was thinking Phil at the time but I think Wilbur would be better. After all he experienced the same thing with Phil when he was a kid. I'm not sure on the ending, I think Tommy would understand but also hate it because it's not fair. Which could be good to lead into a third instalment maybe.
There was also a prequal considered for how Kristin and Phil met but that's been much less thought out and I have no plans to write the sequel much less a third installment, maybe some day. Maybe I'll rewrite the first and make it a trilogy of sorts but I doubt it.

Sick ass concept with tommy being able to summon techno from his own blood except tommy abuses the shit out of this and techno will show up to tommy with a big ole self inflicted gash on the hand like “whats happening??? Whats going on!??” “TECHNOBLADE. DO YOU have a pen i can use” “YOU DID NOT SUMMON ME FOR THAT” “SO WHAT IF I FUCKING DID-“

the fun part about it is that's like, the plot but the main actual plot is Tommy having to go to school and just generally exist while his own family is constantly trying to kill him because if it's an accident then oh nooo he has to join them.
So it's shit like, Wilbur drives him home from school except he's going 30 over the speed limit, not using turn signals and basically begging to get into an accident, with plausible deniability because if he actually gets in an accident and it's very obviously his fault then Kirstin and Phil will get pissed that he's trying to kill Tommy early because Tommy's made it clear he doesn't want to be a teenager forever.
Kristin and Phil of course are constantly poisoning Tommy's food to try and kill him but he's not only aware, he's been building up an immunity. Which is very fun in school because Tubbo will try to take half his sandwich and Tommy has to tell him not to eat it, because it'll kill him. Then he takes the biggest fucking bite out of his half like it's nothing.
He has garlic wreaths on his door so Techno can't wander in to drink his blood and/or turn him while he's asleep because Techno sleep walks and sometimes gets really invested in whatever video game he's become a pro at that week and put off eating for so long he gets delirious.
Insane shit, but all coming from a place of love.
SBI but everyone's been touched by death each in unique ways. Kristin is the Goddess of Death, Philza is her right-hand man, her angel. On my "stop making Kristin's only character train being fucking dead" agenda today we have a mafia au!
Let's set the scene:
We have Kristin, Lady Death, the most powerful woman in the city, anyone who's anyone knows her name and not because she's a kind charitable person.
Then we have Tommy, 16, Lady Death's only son though that's kept very hush hush for many many reasons. He's loud, obnoxious and loves picking fights with people because his mom is Lady Death, and you just punched her son.
Now we have the other side of the story.
Philza, owns a diner, and is the leader of The Syndicate, a gang in the lower part of the city that primarily is in the drug business.
And his twin sons Wilbur, a waiter at the diner, he hands out the drugs. And Technoblade, the cook, he makes the drugs.
The plot's a reverse of rich SBI takes in poor orphan Tommy. Instead Tommy becomes a regular and they don't realize immediately, but eventually Wilbur realizes that he can charge Tommy triple for his pancakes and Tommy won't notice or complain about the price.
There's only one obvious course of action here, The Syndicate decides that they need to take advantage of this teenager and get all the money they can from him before he realizes what's going on and leaves.
And he's annoying, but he grows on them and they grow on Tommy. And either Tommy brings in Kristin one day and everyone has a collective "oh fuck, we've been scamming Lady Death's son"
OR, Ranboo is one of Tommy's best friends, Niki his sister owns a bakery, a bakery that's recently become a second location for drug selling and money lundering. And Ranboo is the one to say "You're scamming Tommy? My Tommy? Lady Death's son Tommy?"
blah blah blah, character development, Kristin falls for Phil and she adores Techno and Wilbur and their love of violence.
They all live happily ever after. The End.

FIC FRIDAY!!!
Let’s talk about another fic I’m “working on” (aka it’s on the furthest most back burner it can possibly be on and hasn’t been thrown in the freezer to be forgotten about) my royalty au Of Equal Value.
The premise is not at all simple but that’s what makes it fun
The premise: we have two kingdoms, Esempii and The Arctic Empire. We have King Dream the ruler of Esempii and King Phil, Queen Kristin and their sons Princes Wilbur and Technoblade the royal family of The Arctic Empire.
Except, Crown Prince Wilbur is dead, murdered, assassinated.
And it was Esempii’s doing.
Phil and Kristin are mad, pissed, who wouldn’t be after loosing their son? But still, they’re merciful, they give King Dream a chance to redeem himself.
All they ask of King Dream is to give them something of equal value to their son’s life and all will be forgiven. There won’t be a war that Esempii will surely loose, they won’t have to become part of The Arctic Empire and King Dream can keep his head.
So King Dream complies, he sends his little brother, Prince Theseus of Esempii.
Except, there is no Prince Theseus, Prince Theseus doesn't exist, and King Dream has no little brother.
Twelve year old Tommy was a servant, until he was selected to pose as King Dream's little brother and get sent away to the Arctic Empire, his orders are clear: Never let the royal family know you aren't a prince or else The Arctic Empire will kill everyone in Esempii and it'll be all his fault.

like, WHAT DO YOU MEAN STILL THINK ITS FUNNY.
like this is why I'm not orphaning my other works
generally I don't regret orphaning the fics I did, but I checked in on two of them and one of them got a bookmark like a week ago and now I'm wondering, should I have orphaned that one? The onther one yes, 100%, but that one? It was cringe, but the premise? The premise was decent and I think it could shine in a different format.
But those are the demons talking and I won't be divulging them, I have many wips and they come first.

Still thinking about this. I love the idea of them just switching sides one day, going on as if nothing happened. They fight when they have masks on and meet up for coffee every week at their favorite place. Everything around them has changed, the city is reeling from the switch but for Technoblade and Phil everything’s the same, but their roles are reversed.
I also like the idea of something happening, the heroes get too close to killing Technoblade and Phil turns on them in an instant he helps Techno to his feet with an easy smile and they fight together. No hero survives. When the villains get too close to killing Phil Techno doesn’t think twice about freeing Phil, and killing people he’s worked with for years.
It doesn’t matter. None of them matters as much as Phil and Techno matter to each other.
The city should be thankful that they fight on opposing sides, of they did anything else no one would survive. But that’s a little boring, always being on top so they leave those times for when there’s no other option.
Everyone else is expendable.
Emerald Duo superhero au but Techno is a supervillain, Phil is one of the top heroes and they're besties.
They know about their personas, they were friends before they ever became a hero and a villain.
And that has its perks, sometimes Phil will warn Techno that his lair will be raided so he can hide the really important shit. And sometimes Techno gives Phil some intel on other villains so that he can take care of them.
Then of course some shit happens, because shit always happens.
It's discovered by someone that Techno and Phil are friends, maybe whichever sides finds out also learns that they're actually aware that the other is a hero/villain. But even if they don't shit still happens, Phil gets put in danger from being associated with Techno. And Techno gets put in danger from being associated with Phil.
Something could happen to make one of them switch sides. Phil learns that the heroes aren't as idealistic as he first thought, they've got some dark secrets, same as everyone else. And he is pissed, he joins Techno and the two become a duo, set on destroying the city.
Or Techno realizes that total anarchy won't actually help him achieve his goals so he takes a new approach. What better way to get people to listen to you then go from being one of the worst villains to being one of the best heroes. Fighting along side Philza, his old nemesis.
There are so many possibilities.
#its also extra fun if they’re immortal#they know what they’re like together they had an empire together#they let it fall not because it couldn’t sustain itself or because there was an uprising#but because they were bored#because when you’re as strong as Phil and Techno there is no one more powerful#they are on opposite sides because being on the same side is boring#there’s no challenge to it#reblog#dsmp#philza#technoblade

Fic Friday! But I'm switching it up and talking about something I'm (very slowly) currently working on. It's a Quackity centric superhero called Luck of the Draw.
And I'm going to talk about my favorite part, which is Quackity's relationship, or lack thereof with Eret. Because in it, Quackity and Eret don't meet until the last scene in the last chapter. But Eret pretty much haunts the narrative.
Quackity is an ex hero, forcefully retired after a very public fight where a villain took out his eye. He finished his business school degree since and started up a casino in the shitty part of town.
Eret is Oracle, at least the current Oracle. Eret is the current of a long line of Seers, the former rulers of L'Manburg and the sworn protectors. So despite no longer being royalty Eret has a lot of power because of their future sight. Which includes basically being able to enlist people into being a hero.
Quackity was one of those heroes, one of Oracle's chosen. Which means big things, not many are chosen by Oracle to be a hero. Quackity was a hero for, let's say like 2 years, he was not a hero for long and was only about a mid level hero, somewhat known but not in the big leagues yet.
To Quackity, Oracle ruined his god damned life, several times over.
And the end scene, god it's fucking amazing, so amazing that here's the opening of the end scene.
“I’ve had this conversation a thousand times already. You kill me in many of them.” Oracle said, lounging across Quackity’s couch looking impossibly regal in their white shirt, black pants and red cape more opulent than Achilles’. All they were missing was a crown to complete the ensemble. “Does you telling me that stop me from killing you?” Oracle smiled, their head was tilted back, white eyes were cast up at the ceiling, looking at everything and nothing. The sunglasses they always wore when making a rare appearance both on screen and in person were dangling loosley in their hand. “In some futures it does. In others it makes you want to kill me more.” Quackity sat down at his desk, “in some. I could still kill you.” “I’ve accepted that risk.”
This fic is still in the early stages, I've got some scenes, the outline is done but that's about it. And I'm working on other stuff, mainly the next chapter of Spirits Forgive Our Sins and a one shot that will be done once I figure out how to end the damned thing. But after that, my attention will be fully on Luck of the Draw.

Philza Minecraft and Kristin
The defeated and bloodied king was chained to kneel in front of his enemy and he says weakly: "Is my wife still alive?" His enemy nodded. "You fools," he said smirking, and the king starts laughing as the sounds of explosions getting closer shake the room.

Fic Friday! You know the drill, today we'll be talking about The Family of Theseus my fae au.
spoilers under the cut as always
The Family of Theseus came about in the dumbest way possible, basically I was taking a philosophy 101 class and got to thinking about the ship of theseus. Basically, if ever board in a ship is replaced over time, once they've all been replaced, is it still the same ship?
Then, like any good writer I was like oh wow that’d be a great horror concept. Slowly your house changes until it becomes something unrecognizable. But what if it were people? Your family slowly gets replaced by imposters, lookalikes, and you don’t know how long they’ve been there. Was it your sister who made up elaborate stories to get you to fall asleep every night? Did your dad walk you to school every day? Did your mom help you finish the school project you forgot about?
Does it even matter?
I mean, the impostors love you don’t they? They stuck around for whatever reason, they raised you, made sure you had a good childhood. How conflicting must that be?
Then of course, make is SBI.
The original idea was that Phil, Wilbur and Techno would all be different kinds of shapeshifters, individually stumbling across the little cottage and killing one of Tommy's family members before taking their place, unknown to each other.
Wilbur would've been a Silkie or something? The sea creatures that have coats or whatever. He would've drowned one of the brothers. Techno was going to be some kind of boar thing and kill the second brother by impaling him on his tusks because the bother tried to hunt him. And I think Phil was going to be a fae, I can't remember how he was going to kill the dad.
But that was a little too much so I had them all be fae. Despite not knowing much about fae aus.
The other thing was the original family, in the end I think I made them too shitty, I wanted the story to be ambiguous, and it is, but I feel like them being so shitty makes Tommy's decision to follow Techno, Wilbur and Phil into the fae realm easier.
I could go on and on about how I'dd rewrite the fic but that can be for another day, time to talk about a detail I really like.
Namely, Names. Not only Tommy giving up his name so easily to Phil, he's never been told of the fae, to not give his name so freely, but also that's his father, why would he hide his name from his dad?
Then of course are Phil, Wilbur and Techno giving Tommy their names so easily. He still doesn't understand the significance of it, how willingly they all tell him their Names. He doesn't understand the power even during the rare times Phil uses that power on him. Getting him to put down the gun, getting him to get down so he can be shown the contract.
What I also like is the ambiguity of how Phil acquired Wilbur and Techno. Specifically for Techno, because I don't think I write how Phil got Wilbur and if I did have an idea as to how I don't remember it. Techno was the runt of his pack, cast out and told that if he could return he'd be allowed to stay.
But Phil found him first, created an impassable sphere that Techno couldn't escape, or get hurt in. He tried to swim in a lava lake to get out but couldn't pass the barrier and didn't get burnt at all. And he stayed there until he got used to Phil and agreed to be his son. He says it's ok, Phil saved him, he wouldn't've been able to make it back to his pack anyway. But we don't know that for sure, maybe he could've made it back, but he wasn't able to because of Phil.
Phil who found him alone and practically abandoned then made it impossible for Techno to run away until he was sure Techno wouldn't run away from him.
Which he then did to Wilbur, finding him in a similarly vulnerable spot.
And he could've done to Tommy, except something went wrong, he didn't know Tommy was there. The point was to go on vacation, relax and pretend to be humans for a week or so. But then they found Tommy, looking like his family and the choices were to leave him, all alone in the middle of the forest far from civilization or to keep pretending. They chose to keep pretending.
But, if Tommy hadn't found the bones of his real family, would they have ever told him the truth? Could they tell him the truth?
That's for you to decide.

Every time a character says “kiddo” an angel looses it’s wings
#I’m so fucking sick of seeing the word kiddo#especially when it’s like no that character would NOT fucking say that#even if they would#get it out of my sight#every time I see it I have to pause and sigh because there it is *again*#all I’m asking for is to use another word that’s not kiddo#because kiddo is used so much and I’m tired of it
