this photo shoot was really daunting. not only was it my first time hosting an event, it was my first real experience with event photography and performance art. a lot went wrong on both days. i wasn't able to process the initial roses into paint in time for the painting part of the event because the rain had drowned them, so i used back up pigments mixed with linseed oil. i do still plan on adding the rose petals created on the first day, though. what i'm most proud of is the fact that everyone had a lot of fun. i will eventually post the final painting, but it still needs to dry more before i can move it. (please be careful with linseed oil as it is highly flammable and, if handled improperly, can spontaneously combust. do not set linseed oil in direct sunlight and do not leave folded/crumpled linseed rags out in your studio).

this is more environmental portraiture from last year. this is god, everyone. i met him through radio and streaming. (i might edit this later to link to his work once things get back up and running)

now that i know how to properly expose glass and metal, i really wish i could redo these. nonetheless, it was still a very fun photo shoot.

so my camera finally came in. i got a nikon d800. turns out nikon is very different from olympus so i've been focusing wrong for like the last month and i am so glad i mentioned it to my prof because she actually uses a nikon d800e which is basically the same thing. it's been so nice being able to ask questions about how my camera works rather than trying to dig through a manual about it. i'll be back to doing studio portraiture in about a week, but right now i'm working on a performance art project. i've essentially turned it into a queer community gathering and paint day. i may or may not post pictures depending on the shots i get and how comfortable everyone is with being posted.

so my camera broke in the middle of my finals, and i’ve finally ordered one, hopefully it’ll be in before the next semester really starts. it’s funny, my camera broke in the middle of this project specifically and i ended up dyeing my hair while trying to figure out how to get it to work and it caused a really dramatic shift in how’s it turned out. my prof compared the before to like a 90s style of photography and she said it paired well with the other style. the more i reflect on it, the more i like how this project turned out. i’m excited to get back into portraiture

this shoot was incredibly fun, thanks to orion, the one and only campus wizard (sorry, none of the rest of you count). this was the first time i got to work with gels all semester and it made me wish that i'd gotten to use them more. this is a multiple exposure technique using off-camera flash, so these images were created in camera.

these were some of my first portraits of the semester, but i still manage to love them now, this shoot was really helpful in determining my style going forward. i absolutely love working in low-light photography

my first venture into food photography. the cookies were great, our professor baked them for us to use. the angles i used make them look huge, but she complained that the baking kit must have ripped her off because they were so small.

our class had to take photos to express a poem. i went with nothing gold can stay because it was so short i could remember it off the top of my head

i've been struggling to learn krita ever since everything with photoshop happened, so i'm a little late to starting off the month. nonetheless, happy pride.
