カラオケ行こ! Let's Go Karaoke! (2024) dir. Yamashita Nobuhiro
#haha yamashita director said this scene is the most difficult to pull off#because he read the script and didn't really understand why the fish skin#he used light and slowmotion to make it more romantic#the most interesting part is he add the movie/film club as a way to show Satomi's thought#instead of voiceover dubbing for character's thought#because it's a movie after all so he want characters to interact#karaoke iko#let's go karaoke

My left eye is nearsighted with 300 degrees, and the right one is 400 degrees. But I don't know which is the left one and which is the right one. It's okay, you can wear your glasses.

One more Lynch thing for now:
With the Gaiman story breaking, I’ve seen so many people break out the sentiment that essentially Well Adjusted People Make Boring Art, to go along with the old bullshit of You Have To Be Tormented To Make Great Art and David Lynch is an example of someone who had a very idyllic childhood, who was able to work at his art for years with support, who was a loving (but reluctant) father, who genuinely enjoyed life, and who made deeply fucked up, raw, and idiosyncratic art. He had a vision—one that was dark and filled with questions but also hope, terror but also beauty. And he put that in his Art then he went out for a cheeseburger. He liked children. He liked animals. He had a decades long meditation practice. He was, by many accounts, an incredibly respectful director to work with, especially for women.
He’s proof that genius does not require sacrificing others for your vision. That you don’t have to be a totalitarian behind the camera, or canvas, or computer screen to make great art. You can be a happy little weirdo who doesn’t yell at coworkers and who genuinely wishes happiness for the word.
Of course, if it comes out in the next few days that he was actually a monster, I have no fucking idea how I’ll handle that because it’s him, Tom Waits, and Nick Cave as the trifecta of Creative Idols Who Explore The Darkness But Love Their Families And Seek Joy.

WTAF... I blacked out the pic cos it was from so long ago and I don't wanna spread the image of whoever this is but u can tell she's naked in the bath from the tub and the nakedness tag. neil-gaiman deleted his reblog of it but u can see where other ppl reblogged it from him, so it was on his blog. Idk I have some reservations about spreading this creepy ass blog but this is literally so sick.

this is probably above my pay grade but regarding neil gaiman it's so starkly clear how much class-based absue is entwined in this horrid situation. his victims were financially dependent on him, unable to even admit to themselves that what was happening was abuse because they had, in some cases, literally nowhere else to go. amanda palmer, self-proclaimed feminist, was complicit in a truly fucked mistreatment of a woman because she wanted to keep the babysitter that she didn't have to pay. gaiman was quoted literally saying that he's very wealthy to one of his victims. even the little mention of gaiman making decisions in his and palmer's marriage bc he's the one with the money is just. so telling when you know what to look for. they both took advantage of their social and financial priviledge over their victims and used it to abuse, manipulate, put down, and in the end try to silence them.
