I spoke because I was angry. I used the People's Mic because I knew that I was not alone in my anger. Forced sterilization is not an abstract concept or some theoretical idea. It is the cutting open of real bodies. Bodies like mine. It is not me who put my body on display. The State and the Public have already done that with this law and this debate. But we are not just bodies. We are people. People with lives. People with voices. It was time for cisgender people to shut-up about our bodies and listen to us speak. It was time to stop covering up the brutal reality of this law with polite conversation and expose it for the violation of flesh and blood that it is. I still feel angry. But now I also feel powerful. There is power in vulnerability. Power in truth. People are finally listening.

hey, guys. does anyone from missouri want to help me out a bit and give me some information on how to change my name? it seems like all of the information i’ve found is pretty limited and it all says the same stuff. i know i have to petition the court and print it in the newspaper, but HOW do i petition the court? help would be greatly appreciated, as i’m trying to get this done asap.

Call (or visit or e-mail) your county clerk. They can send you the necessary forms that you need to use for the petition or maybe even give you a link to an online version you can print. "Petition" just means fill out a form, get it notarized, pay $140 and go see the judge when they tell you to.

I love Khaos Komix :)
ksplitintwok:
This is the character Tom from Tab K’s KhaosKomix (khaoskomix.com) and he is my favorite. Tom is FTM and bad ass, but know’s how to be gentle to his best friend Charlie who is rather timid. I also think this picture is hot and probably what Tom wears under his clothes everyday. I know the tank/binder was made just for him by Charlie (who is also badass in her own way) but we have yet to hear if he wears boxers, briefs, or boxer briefs…

If that makes you a bad person. We can be bad people together. The Party's at Lucifer's... see you there?

Honesty and Art
A musician pours their heart and soul out to the whole world and we call it music. A painter does the same and we revere the display of emotion. A fiction writer puts in vivid imagery her deepest, most intense feelings in words and we love her for it. When one puts oneself out there in the world exposing one's thoughts and feelings to the public in any way that is not considered art, society seems baffled and scolds one for having no sense of privacy. And by society, I mostly mean old people.
Every week I hear old people complain that young people are exposing themselves to the entire world (via teh internets) as if this behavior is obscene, inexcusable, immature or irrational. Blogs, YouTube videos, Facebook all full of personal, intimate, real information about the experiences of being a human being. Thoughts, ideas, stories-- all real. Sharing that deepens understanding and strengthens the connections between people.
Why should I feel the need to be anonymous when Adele is not? When Ian McEwan is not? When Maya Angelou is not?
Why must honesty always wear the veil of art?
This is a freedom that should belong to everyone.
