In more ways than one
Villain pulled their towel out of their bag. They padded their forehead dry as they sat down on the bench in the backroom of the fighters pit. Good thing they won this one, money was getting tight again, they thought as they downed their water in one big gulp. When they placed the bottle back down again, they noticed a figure standing in the doorway.
“Good evening, Villain,” the tall person in front of them spoke with elegance. “Supervillain,” Villain huffed in response. “Not even a good evening? I’m used to a bit more hospitality from you. On the other hand, you are known for being rather blunt, so I guess I can’t take too much offense,” the criminal leader said as she slowly walked forward. The other looks up at the smiling Supervillain. “What do you want?”
The criminal mastermind curls their lips into a smirk. “You. In more ways than one,” they tease, leaning forward. Villain doesn’t budge. “I already turned you down. In more ways than one, as you put it.”
“Oh, come on, Vil,” Supervillain smiles. “I could do so much for you.” Now it was Villain’s turn to smile. “I’m sure you could, but I’m more than content where I am now,” they said, leaning back. “Doing what? Fighting in a literal pit for people to watch? We both know you can do so much more than that,” Supervillain says, sounding like a disappointed parent. Villain shakes their head. “So what I can do more? I like this.” The criminal leader huffs. “I suppose I can just keep coming to your fights then. They're quite nice to watch.”
Villain stands up from the bench, starting to undo their wraps. “Well thank you, I put quite some energy into perfecting my fighting style.” Supervillain takes a step closer, backing Villain against the bench. “I wasn’t talking about your fighting style, love,”
Villain glances away. As much as they rejected Supervillain’s ‘confessions’, they couldn’t help but think about the possibility…
No, they couldn’t allow themselves to.
“Vil…” the criminal whispered, placing their hand on the fighter’s cheek. “I really do like you. More than what is considered safe, I’m afraid,” Villain sighed. They really wanted to, but it’s such a risk. Not only is it a big step up from their current antics: petty crime and just annoying the shit out of Hero to step into literal organised crime. They would become an emotional risk for Supervillain and a target for the Heroes. But still…
“It’s not safe…” Villain whispers, looking in the other’s pleading eyes. “I’ll protect you, with everything in my power. Not that you need it…” Supervillain added smiling. They stared at each other for a few seconds before Villain made a decision.
They grabbed Supervillain’s jaw and pulled them in. Immediately their lips met. Supervillain didn’t hesitate for a second the moment they realised what was happening. They pulled the other closer, pressing their bodies against each other. It’s in that moment, while Villain felt a warmth spread in their chest, that they knew they made the right decision.
Hi, another short one. It's starting to become a theme. Hope you enjoy :)
Btw, ignore how badly the kiss is written, i have no idea what I am doing

Whatever you want to do
The sidekick slowly opened their eyes. Their head pounced as they tried to recognise their surroundings. A grey, concrete building started to appear and the coat of ash and blood covering their skin made them realise a little better where they were. The hole in the ceiling and all the debris around them gave them enough clues to piece together what happened. They should get going. If any of the Villains are still around they would become a living punching bag. The sidekick put their hands under their body to push themself up, but something heavy stopped them from doing so.
A giant concrete block was laying on top of their leg. Immediately their breath started to quicken. They pushed the concrete with their other leg, without any effect, of course. No, this couldn’t be happening, they had to get out. They kept kicking the concrete desperately, not being able to reach it with their hands. The struggling Sidekick kept kicking, and kicking to the point where their foot was more than likely sprained. That didn’t matter, because if they didn’t get out, they would have a lot more to worry about.
Footsteps nearing pulled them from their blind panic. Their eyes flashed to the origin of the sound. Their heart dropped for a second. And then they pulled and kicked at their leg with full force. No, no, no. They had to get out, it was now or never.
“You’re only going to hurt yourself more that way,” the masked individual spoke calmly. Sidekick ignored them. Maybe if they didn’t look, they’d disappear. “You want some help with that?” the figure asked, stopping a few feet away from them. “No!” the Sidekick yelled out louder than they had intended. “Oh, well, it looks like you do,” the figure walked closer and sidekick couldn’t help but look at them. There, in front of them, was a figure that they had seen in countless meetings. ‘Villain’, a calm, but deadly force that could kill in seconds. And now they were standing there, offering ‘help’. “Who do you think is going to? It’s just you and me down here. In the entire building, honestly,” Villain looked around, not a hint of worry or fear.
What was that supposed to mean? Hero was around here somewhere, they had to be. They wouldn’t leave. “No, they wouldn’t…” Sidekick started. Villain shrugged. “Sorry, kid. They left. Thought you were dead and didn’t dare to come pick you up.” Their eyes started to prick and they felt a tear in the corner of their eye. So this was it? They were going to die here, after they were left for dead.
Before they realised, they felt a weight lifted off their leg. They looked at Villain, who appeared to use their power to lift the concrete. They stared in shock. Villain really did just help them? “There you go,” Villain huffed, “feels better, huh?” Sidekick quietly nods.
Suddenly, Villain started to walk away. “Hey, wait!” Sidekick yelled. “Yes?” the Villain turned around. “What am I supposed to do now?” Sidekick asked, trying to push themselves up. “Whatever you want to do. They think you’re dead. It’s your life now, kid.” And with that the Villain left, leaving the bewildered Sidekick alone.
Hi, short one today, but I had fun writting it. Hope you enjoyed. Have a nice day :)

Please
“Stop it, Villain!” Hero yelled as they aimed their gun. “Step away from the machine,” they command while the criminal steps back reluctantly. Something seems off about them today. Something they can’t really place. A thing that hadn't been there in all those years that they knew each other, fought each other and even started to care a bit for each other.
Hero moves to put their gun away and grab their handcuffs instead but Villain’s fist puts a stop to that. Hero feels the punch connecting to their jaw, sending them flying across the room. Their head starts to spin as they hit the concrete floor. They can barely move away in time for Villain's next attack.
“Villain, hold on…” Hero tries but the only response they get is another blow to their stomach. They have gone manic, Hero realises. They quickly kick the Villain's leg. Immediately, the criminal flies to the ground. Hero doesn't waste a second and tries to hold Villain down.
After a struggle that seemed to go on forever, they can finally hold Villain down. Hero takes a look at their nemesis. This isn't how they usually fought. Calculated, precise and fast attacks, that's what they were used to. This blind…rage? was something entirely new. Villain looked angry, seething and… was crying.
“Vil…” Hero starts slow. They can't help but feel sorry for their nemesis. A person they cared for, after all they had been through together. Although they'd never admit that out loud, they're enemies.
Villains shakes their head. “Please…” they beg, looking at Hero with tear filled eyes. “Please what, Vil?” Hero replies. Villain looked so vulnerable. What happened? The Villain they knew would rather die than let anyone see them like this. “Let me do this. I need to. Please, I need to help them…”
Hero's head spun in confusion. “Who do you need to help? What's going on?” Villain sobbed heavily. “They are going to kill them. They're going to hurt those kids.” Hero held Villain’s jaw. “Who Vil?” The criminal shook their head and started hyperventilating. Hero immediately moved to comfort their nemesis. In all those years they had never seen them like this. Not only did it concern Hero, it also scared them. Villain had never been scared before…
And although Hero wanted to know who it was at first, they wished they never did. Villain's next word made their entire world crash.
“Superhero,”
Hi! I'm back (for now, who knows for how long) but I've found the time and energy to wrote again. Hope you enjoyed!

Promise
Tw: mention of death
“Oh, come on, you big grump. Just one sip,” Hero pleads as they hold the spoon in front of Villain. Who, in turn, is throwing the biggest tantrum known to history. Villain turns their head away and pulls their blanket a bit higher. Hero sighs as they let the spoon fall into the bowl with cooled soup. “Why? You haven't eaten in two days,” Hero asks.
Their concern was growing with the day. Villain was nearly killed in a fight with Supervillain. Guess they got in an argument and Supervillain decided to fight it out like toddlers. No way Villain had started it. Not that they couldn’t fight, but Hero knew they preferred to sabotage and use words to piss people off instead of stabbing them to piss them off.
“Not hungry,” Villain mumbles. “I know, Vil. But please, even if you're not hungry, you need the nutrients,” Hero tries as they pick up the bowl again. They weren't leaving until Villain had eaten at least three spoons.
They hear Villain sigh. “You know if you help me, they'll come after you too, right?” they say quietly. Hero nods. They had thought about it. And they had decided that sending the entire Agency to where they had found Villain was a good way to prevent that. Especially when they had gotten the message that Suppervillain was dead.
They told Villain as soon as they knew, hoping they would start eating and accepting their help. Yet, Villain remained in some sort of denial. Paranoid almost that Supervillain would return from the dead. Hero put a hand on Villain’s shoulder. “They’re dead, Villain. You don't have to worry about them anymore. I promise,” Hero said, trying their best to sound comforting.
Villain looked them in the eye for the first time since they found them. “Promise?” they asked. Their eyes staring into Hero's as a warning not to lie. “Promise,” Hero answered. They knew one thing. Villain never breaks a promise. And those who do, better start praying to whatever god they believe in to make it fast and painless.
Villain nodded and silently took the bowl from Hero. Villain also knew one thing. Hero protects those they care for. And those who hurt them, better start praying to whatever god they believe in to make it fast and painless.

A plan
Part 1 (Disgraced apple pie) part 7 (Vengeance)
Although they won, the villains' house was in a rather sombre mood. Everyone is, except for Supervillain. They strolled happily through the garden, made everyone dinner and even played a game of darts with them. Sidekick found it weird. They've always known them as a calculating, non-darts-playing, always-a-degrading-smile-on-their-face kind of person. The others also seemed to think that way. Other Villain was careful with their every move and Assassin was definitely on edge.
But that was not their biggest concern. Assassin said that Supervillain just gets that way sometimes when they have a big win. No, they had a bigger problem. Since Supervillain was so happy about the win, they let Villain out of their mind control. They didn't take it well.
“Has anyone asked if Villain will join us for breakfast?” Supervillain says at the head of the table. The spot next to them has been empty for a couple of days now. The three villains shake their head no silently. “Well, go ask them,” they urged. After a few awkward looks, Assassin decides to do it. They stand from the table and walk towards Villain's room.
They looked even worse than they imagined. Their room was dark, completely covered in the Villain’s shadows. On the bed in the corner is a heap that appears to be human and cat curled up next to them. Assassin slowly stalks towards the bed. The shadows also edge closer and closer with every step, as a warning not to try anything.
“Hey…” Assassin whispers, placing a hand on the curled up Villain. “Supervillain asks if you are going to eat breakfast with us,” A low hum is the only response. “Please,” Assassin tries, “You haven't eaten in ages.” Villain turns around, tear stained and exhausted face visible. “It's not like I deserve too,” they whisper in a hoarse voice. “It's not your fault,” Assassin starts but before they can fully finish their sentence, a dark shadow swirls around their leg and pulls them outside the room, door slamming shut.
“I'll take that as a no, then,” Supervillain says from the table. Assassin silently sits again and starts taking some cereal. Sidekick watches as Assassin and Other Villain glance at each other as they eat. It looks like they are talking with their eyes, but it's in a language Sidekick doesn't speak, since they have no idea what they're talking about.
A little later the three of them are sitting in Other Villain's room, watching TV. Supervillain is out to go drinking with some friends, so they decided to do a movienight. Sidekick sees Assassin and Other Villain glance at each other and shifting uncomfortably. Sidekick can't hold it anymore. “Why are you two so tense?” They say a bit louder than they intended. The two villains look shocked at Sidekick and then at each other. “Well…” Assassin begins, “We have to talk to you about something.” Other Villain silently nods. “We aren’t sure to include you, since it's pretty dangerous.” Sidekick is about to explode “Oh come on, what is it?” They ask impatiently. Assassin sighs. “We have a plan. But we’re not sure if it'll work.”
~
Hero sighs as they cross away another plan. “That’s not going to work either,” they say as they let their head fall on the desk. “I'm never going to be able to kill Supervillain. Why is it so hard to kill somebody?”
A knock on their front door pulls Hero back from their mental spiral. Who visits them that late? Why? They slowly walk to the door and look through the peephole. Hero steps back in shock as they recognize the faces. Why are Assassin, Other Villain and their Sidekick standing at their door? Oh no, they've found me. They're going to kill me.
“Hero? Please open the door,” a voice sounds through the door. Did they sound desperate? “Look, we know it's … weird. And unusual, but we really need your help,” another voice says.
You know what? Fuck it.
Hero opens the door and the three villains look up in shock. “What?” Hero says as they try to look though, but fuck, those guys look intimidating as the shock on their faces disappears. “Well, we need you to keep someone safe for us,” Assassin says gesturing into the hallway. Hero looks hesitantly. They're not guarding some hostage.
But no, no hostage. It's Villain, slumped over in a chair. “Villain!” Hero says as they practically fly towards their criminal. “Hey, Vil?” Hero whispers softly. This time it's not glazed over eyes that look back but tired, yet alive eyes. “Hero?” Villain asked weakly. “Yeah,” Hero says as they pull Villain in for a hug.
Hero turns towards the other villains. “How?” Now it's Other Villain’s turn to answer. “Supervillain let them out of their control when we got back. But to get here we had to use something of Assassin's stuff to knock them out. They haven't really moved the past few days, so we didn't think they'd come along.” Hero just looks at their Villain. Tired, worn down. Nothing like the intimidating second hand to the Supervillain they met in the diner. “Do you mind keeping them safe for now? That bracelet should be able to stop any mind control,” Assassin asks, worry visible on their face. “Yeah,” Hero answers. “As long as I get to be the one to kill that monster.” A vague smile plays around the mouth of Other Villain. “That can be arranged.”
Hi! Sorry for being so inactive, but I just started my first year at Uni so I'm trying to settle down and get a routine going.
Sadly, this is the second to last part of the story :(. But! That means there's still one part more to go! (Which will appear one day, promise).
Anyway, hope you enjoyed!

Thunderstorm
This was less than ideal. It had only been three hours and Hero wanted to die already. They are sick of sitting in the backseat of a car, looking at a dark building waiting for something to happen. Plus, they are sitting next to Villain, which just makes it even worse. This stake out was going to be the death of them. Supervillain is probably not even going to move anything in the building tonight. Hero shifted in their seat again.
“Can you stop moving?” Villain grumbles. “I'm uncomfortable. I need to move,” Hero answers, reciprocating the attitude. The criminal just lets out a deep sigh. It was a mistake joining up with Villain for this mission. They're insufferable. Hero can't help but sit differently again. “Hero…” Villain sighs annoyed. “Suck it up,” is all Hero has to say to them.
On the other hand, Villain is the only one who knows the insides of Supervillain's network and is the only one who hates them more than Hero… Maybe they should try keeping it civil between them.
Out of nowhere a bright flash and a loud bang appears in the distance and Hero lets out a yelp before they realize it. Slowly, they look at Villain who's sitting next to them, arm leaning on the car door and looking at them with a raised eyebrow. “What are you looking at?” Hero demands, trying to get some of their dignity back. “Are you scared of thunder?” They ask, completely ignoring the Hero. Hero lets out a shocked laugh, “Pfft…no.”
Right at that moment, another much closer flash lights the car. Hero yelps again and instinctively jumps closer to Villain. “Okay, maybe I am,” they reluctantly say to the grinning criminal.
“Don't laugh, it's serious,” Hero mumbles. They are never going to live this down. Another bang sounds as Hero starts to slightly panic. They can feel tears prick in their eyes and their breathing becomes rapid.
Without really realizing they crawl against Villain and hold on to them for dear life. The before grinning Villain now looks shocked and unsure. They start to awkwardly pat the crime fighter's back. In response, Hero hangs on to Villain even harder. “You know…” Villain begins silently, “a car is the safest place to be during a thunderstorm.” Hero's tear stained face looks up. “Really?” Villain nods with an awkward smile on their face. “Okay,” Hero says, not letting Villain go. “Let's drive somewhere safer. With less chance of getting struck and further away from an enemy's building,” Villain says while slowly removing the Hero from their side. Hero wipes the tears off their face. “Yeah, that's a good idea.”
I'm stressed for my dentist appointment tomorrow so I decided to write. Hope you enjoy!

I have to go to the dentist tomorrow to fix a filling in my tooth that fell out. That's okay but I have to get some local sedation to get it done and that means I'm going to get an injection.
I fucking hate needles. I have a manic fear of them and I'm dreading it. So....wish me luck.

Grief and relief
Just a few more minutes. That's what Hero told themselves as they stared at the casket in front of them. They hear the camera shutters click behind them. The press that wants to cover this amazing day. All the city officials and important people watching this funeral, trying not to visibly smile from happiness. The whole city is celebrating, because a Villain has died. And a scary one, so extra confetti. It's not like anyone would miss them…
Except Hero. Hero missed them. Yes, they were a Villain, but one with morals. They didn't kill children in the middle of the night. No. No, they went for the sick billionaires that poison the air around poor neighborhoods, because who cared? They were poor. Well, they did. And Hero does. And now the billionaires and corrupt politicians that survived are smiling at their grave. They remember how Hero and Villain would meet up in dark alleys and just talk. About politics, morals, their day,... Hero felt like they could share anything they wanted and Villain would have an answer, a solution, a reason ready for them. They could never admit it to anyone but they really cared for Villain.
It made Hero's stomach turn. They wanted to scream and cry and cuss them out for the scum they are. For hurting so many people. For stealing their money. For polluting their city… For killing Villain.
Hero had no proof but that building didn't collapse by accident. The Agency had just figured out where Villain lived and an hour later the building collapsed. They felt tears prick in the corner of their eyes. They had been asking to go after those corrupt assholes and everytime they got denied. Because they sponsor the Agency. Because of fucking money. Nevermind they were a hero-agency meant to bring justice to criminals…
They fought back the tears. They couldn't cry. Not in front of the press. A hero showing sympathy for a villain? That's called career suicide. But damn it, they wanted to. Not only because they were grieving, but also because they were angry and desperate.
Hero watched as they lowered the casket into the ground and after a last speech, everybody left. They slowly stood up and dragged themselves back to the city. After a few blocks they managed to lose the paparazzi. Where should they go? A bar to drink away their grief? Or a rage room to let out their anger?
All of a sudden a figure stands behind them. Hero whips their head around and gasps. No, this can’t be. “Villain…?” They whisper. Villain smiles. “Did you really believe I would let myself be killed that easily?” Hero can’t hold it in any longer. Tears start to fall on their cheeks and there seems to be something stuck in their throat. They let all their sadness and anger flow out with their tears. Villain was alive!
“Oh, honey…” Villain says softly as they pull Hero close into a hug. Hero continues to sob in Villain’s chest. They can feel Villain rub soft circles on their back. “I'm okay. I'm sorry,” Villain whispers. “You’re an asshole,” Hero manages to say between sobs. “For making me believe that.” Villain huffs a soft laugh. “Yeah, guess I am… I really didn't know you cared that much about me…” Hero looks up at Villain. They have a kind of sad fondness in their eyes. “How did you do it?” Hero asks them. Villain looks around them, searching for witnesses that might hear them. “Let's go to where I'm staying, I can explain there.” they say quickly. The crime fighter nods as the pair starts to walk.
Hero needed more than a rage room after Villain told the entire story
Hi! It has been a while, I know. But I felt like writing again and this just flowed out so I hope you enjoy.
As always, my asks are open for any requests, thoughts or just to say hi.

Surprise!
Both Hero and Villain are on the ground. Villain's chest goes up and down quickly as they try to get their breath back. They see something move in the corner of their eye. Villain sees Hero get back up again and walk over to Villain.
Villain tries to stand up too, but a stitch in their side prevents them from doing so. They try to crawl backwards, still looking at Hero. They're not going to jail, not today.
“Hey, hey, we're done for today. I'm just coming towards you to check on you,” Hero says, putting their hands as a sign of surrender. Villain looks at them with suspicion in their eyes. What do they want? They never come to check on them after a fight.
Hero slowly sits in front of Villain and pulls out a small package, wrapped in colorful gift paper. “Surprise!” They say cheerfully. Confusion and worry spreads across the Villain's face. What are they going to do with that? Did they wrap their handcuffs or something? “Don't worry, it's nothing bad. In fact, I hope you like it,” Hero smiles as they place the package in Villain’s lap.
Villain looks at Hero. “And what am I supposed to do with this?” Hero smiles even wider. “Open it ofcourse, it's a present!” Villain looks at the present in their lap. “Oh…” they mumble under their breath. Hero slowly drops their smile and replaces it with a worried look. “What? Is something wrong?” they ask, inching a bit closer. “No- I- no- uehm,” Villain stutters, a blush creeping up their neck. “Did I do something wrong?” Hero asks, worried look still visible on their face. “No, you didn't!” Villain quickly answers. “It's just that…I didn't expect it. The last time I got a present, I was still a child, so…”
Hero takes a deep breath in and lets out a silent ‘oh’. And then: “Well, if that's the case, you should immediately open it!” A smile spreads across Hero's face again. “Sure…” Villain answers and starts picking at the wrapping paper. After a few seconds Villain is able to reveal the contents of the present.
“Uhm… wow. Thanks. I guess,” Villain says while the blush on their neck reaches their cheeks. Hero laughs and looks at them expectantly. “And? Do you like it?”
“Yeah, I do… How much time did you spend on this?” Villain holds up an action figure of themselves. ‘Well, I overheard you talk about how all the heroes have their own action figures and I thought you wanted one of yourself,” Villain smiles as they look closer. They can spot the paint strokes and glue residue here and there, but honestly, that makes it even better. “Thanks, Hero,” Villain whispers, still looking at their present. “Happy birthday, Villain,” Hero smiles back.
Hi! Felt like writing a short and fun story, so here we are. I hope you like it!
And since I already have your attention, here is some shameless selfadvertising. Here is the first snippet of my own story with characters with actual names and worldbuilding and stuff! It would mean the world to me if you would go check it out and give it some love!
As always my asks are open for anything your mind can conjure up, so feel free to ask.

The magic system
How magic is learned depends on the kingdom but usually it is done with a learning master (in a class or one on one). There are different kinds of magic that need different kinds of skill levels.
Physical magic Physical magic is used and accessed by the person themselves. Magic is like fluctuations in the nervous system and travels through the neurons like electrical signals. A magic user needs to access their magic through intent and thoughts, there are no set spells to follow. They have to find the right signal for the magic to work the way they want. The more they use the same intention, the easier it becomes.
Physical magic is mostly used for everyday things like starting a fire, lighting a room with a little light, moving objects,... This kind of magic can also be used during a fight to push, burn, and just generally attack the opponent. Things like necromancy, foresight, time travel and curses are not possible. Magic is something that happens in the moment and can not move in time.
Mechanical magic Mechanical magic is used to improve machines, tools, materials and weapons. This includes things like making ships faster, making a sword sharper without having to sharpen it, wool that does not rip and keeps the person warmer than it normally would. It’s a really niche kind of magic that takes years and a very good master to learn. The user that wants to learn this kind of magic needs to be able to use physical magic first. Whether or not the magic needs to be activated is different with each item. It depends on the amount of magic that is needed to get it to work. Wool does not need to be activated but the ship does because the wool does not use a lot of magic, a whole ship does.
Natural magic Natural magic is used for healing and dyeing fabrics. It uses herbs and things from nature to create the magic. A process is needed to ‘extract’ the magic, and does not need any physical magic from the user themselves, but an extensive knowledge about nature is needed. Every herb, plant, tree,... has their own properties.
Natural magic can heal wounds, diseases and pain, but also dye and improve clothes. Dyeing with certain herbs and plants can give fabric a magical glow or make the clothes change with the wearer’s body for example. These fabrics are expensive and are only worn by the rich, upper class.
Hi! Here's another look into my fantasy world! I really hope you somewhat understand what I'm trying to explain here and like it. There is so much more that I can explain, but I think that might be too much at once. (If you like this you can go read a snippet from the story set in this world!)
As always, my asks are open for any requests, thoughts or questions, so feel free to ask!

Stranded
Kamari coughs as she regains consciousness. She slowly opens her eyes and sees the blue sky. She smells the sea and feels the sand crawl everywhere.
As the darkness ebbs away, she remembers what happened. They got on a boat in Urytin, in the kingdom Zyfius. They were headed for Aressa, a four day journey. Only, on the second day it all went downhill. They got caught in the middle of a storm and after trying to keep the right course, their mast had broken off and they were left defenseless. At one point in the night, they heard a deafening crack and they went under, both the ship and her friends.
“Fuck.” She heard someone groan next to her. Rubin sits up on his knees and goes through his hair, trying to get the sand out. “You can say that again,” Alaric says while sitting on his hands and knees. “Eiran, I thought you said you bought the best ship available.”
The young noble inhaled loudly through his nose. “I did, they either clearly scammed me or the one who was sailing the boat obviously wasn't competent.” Kamari sat up too. “Don't you blame me, you arrogant asshole. I told you I've only seen how boats work, I've never actually been at the sail!”
Right at that moment Lenora, the group's healer, comes out of the forest. “Hey guys! I think I found a village, not too far north.” She yells from a distance. “Oh, that's nice,” Rubin, the blacksmith's son, answers. After a pause he asks: “Are they nice?” His voice sounds a bit hoarse, not having completely recovered from their involuntary swim. “Uhm… I think so? It's not like we can go anywhere,” Lenora says, pointing at something in the distance. Everyone looks at where she is pointing and Kamari cringes on the inside. They all see their very expensive ship. It's on the shore but aside from the broken mast, a huge hole gapes from the strakes. “Shit…,” Kamari sighs, putting her head in her hands. “See, this is why we should've gone with the cruise,” Eilan says, pointing frustrated at the ship. “Well, not everyone can pay for that. Plus, we would have been too late in Aressa. Vega isn't going to wait forever for us to arrive,” Kamari shoots back. She has had enough of Eilan and his stick up his ass. “He can wait. And we could have had our food served for us, instead the dried shit Alaric has been feeding us.” Alaric looks at the ground with an apologetic look in his eyes and mumbles: “Sorry, I thought it was the best thing to do. Since it doesn't rot that way and all that…”
Kamari balls her fists. Poor Alaric has been trying their best since the day they met and always wants to help the others. Eilan has no right to talk to him like that. “He at least tried to do something. Every time we asked you to do something, you bailed. You didn’t help washing the dishes, rowing or even navigating!” Kamari was yelling now. She didn’t care if the whole forest could hear them. Maybe it was better that way, so everyone knows what an enormous dipshit he is. “Guys, guys, please. Fighting isn't going to get us back on our way. So can we stop and finally go check out that village?” Lenora says with a kind of passive aggression in her voice that only she can do. Eiran puts on a cocky smile. “Definitely, I hope they have a decent bed with nice, actual food that is properly served,” Rubin smiles to themselves. “I hope they serve a cure for entitled assholes right next to it.”

After convincing the guards to let them through and getting through the gate to the village, Kamari realizes where they are stranded. The dark, wooden houses, the cold weather and the people wearing furs and thick clothing, decorated with riverstone beads. “Of course we are in Vohkli. Of course we are,” Eiran says, throwing his hands in the air. “I don't want to hear another word from you,” Kamari bites back. The noble only huffs in response. “The guard said there should be a shipbuilder that way, so let's focus on that,” Lenora says while pushing them forward. “I think it’s quite nice here. It's quiet and calm,” Alaric says looking around. Eiran huffs. “Just you wait. They are barbaric murderers and savages that would kill their own friends if they get paid enough.”
“Actually, that's not true,” Lenora answers. “They are indeed mercenaries that fight for the highest bidder but they do have morals. Besides, they are the best fighters in the eight kingdoms and every single child is trained from a very young age, so far from just savages. Rather well trained warriors.” Rubin puts an arm over Eiran's shoulder. “Hey, maybe you can ask one of those kids to teach you how to use that toothpick of yours.” The noble huffs. “I can fight very well with my saber, thank you.” Rubin lets out one of his contagious laughs and answers with a simple hum.
The group arrives at a small wooden house. It has a little window in the front and the smell of soup spreads from the hole in the roof. Alaric knocks on the door and takes a step back.
When the door opens a taller woman stands in the frame. She is maybe 20 years old and looks like every other Vohkli. Black hair, which she has cut just above her shoulder and wears half up, grey eyes and a slightly tanned skin from working outside all day. “Yes?” She says with a deep voice. Kamari, as always, takes the lead. “Hello, my name is Kamari and we are a traveling group. I was hoping that you could help us?” The woman looks unimpressed. “Hostel is that way.” Kamari thinks back to what her father always said. He is a talented and respected merchant and has dealt with all kinds of people. When dealing with a Vohkli, be honest and tell them straight up what you need. They are not going to change their price and are not going to listen to your sweet talk.
“Listen, we got stranded and our ship is wrecked. We need to get it fixed and somebody told us you could do that. Just name the price, we can pay it.” Kamari says with a lot of fake confidence. She's not going to lie, the woman in front of her is pretty intimidating. Not that she would ever admit that, of course.
A hint of a smile dances around the woman's face, but disappears as quickly as it appeared. “I might help you, but do know I have several other ships that I need to fix after yesterday's storm and I'm more inclined to help people I know.” Kamari jumps at the opportunity that she sees between the lines. “I completely understand. Can we come in for the details?” The woman sighs and looks back into her house. She then shrugs and looks back at Kamari. “Two people are allowed in. You have 5 minutes to convince me.” She turns around and walks into her house. “I'm Ida, by the way.”
Hi! I'm trying something completely different. This the first time I'm posting something with actual oc's and is set within my own fantasy world. I would love to talk about the lore of this world, so let me know if you're interested. This is a scene a bit further down in the story but I was itching to write it and I decided to share. (It's set around a medieval kind of time btw)
I hope you liked it! I can share the maps, lore about the kingdoms and/ or the magic system that I haven't really touched on yet or write the next part.
As always, my asks are open for any and all questions, snippet ideas, thoughts...

You wrote supermarket wrong on your newest story 😅 (supermarkt in the first sentence) also love your writing 💖
Oh noooo. Thanks for telling me :). Guess I'm going to have to take this as a sign not to write at 1 am anymore. (As if I'm going to that)
Seriously though, thank you. I guess I switched it with the Dutch word for supermarket (Supermarkt).
(Also thank you, I'm glad you like my writing ❤️)
