Made some progress today so here’s a lil snippet...

Renee was frozen with indecision and drawing attention. Her eyes flit from side to side.

There were other angels walking by, doing their jobs with ease. They were starting to stare. She looked down and started walking forward.

Did they know what she’d done? Did they know what she was?

Her wings erupted from her back and her feathers ruffled a few times until she was flying away, desperate for a safe space. But she didn’t know where that was.

All she could do was continue to perform her duties as a Guardian and Judge, and hope that she wouldn’t hear from the Archangels anytime soon.

I haven’t read up on all of the guidelines yet that will be affecting nsfw content yet. But I’m doing my best to make sure I protect my blog. Character Inspiration and Introductions for my WIP, A Soul Reborn  ( @a-soul-reborn-thenovel)

Renee/Rhamiel: Renee is the human nickname chosen by my MC. Her angel name is Rhamiel. She’s a Guardian Angel with a human soul. When her soul makes it too painful to be a Guardian Angel, Renee chooses to become an Angel of Death and Judgement–her job is now collecting human souls and judging them for their final destination. As with most of my main characters, Renee is a part of me. Physically, she is based off of the actress, Amanda Righetti from The Mentalist. Name Inspiration: Rhamiel means the mercy of God or compassion of God. Rhamiel can also be spelled as Ramiel, Remiel or Rhemiel or known as Jeremiel. They are considered the Angel of Empathy which I considered a good choice for an angel who feels too much empathy with her human soul. I kept her nickname with a letter R. She knows it’s important but doesn’t know why… shhh ;)

Matthew Powell: My leading male character and love interest. He’s the Assistant State’s Attorney Prosecutor in Chicago. Matt had an abusive childhood which affects him to this day. He throws himself into his work and isn’t good at relationships and trusting people. Matt and Renee cross paths several times over the years but when it’s revealed that he is seeing Renee when she’s supposed to be invisible to the human eye, Renee shows particular interest in his life. He doesn’t have a Guardian Angel and Renee takes it upon herself to assume the mantle. She even decides to try and help him with his love life. But Matt’s not interested in Renee finding his human soulmate. He’s interested in her! Matt chooses not to believe Renee when she says she’s an Angel but over the course of the story, there are just some things that can’t be explained.

Matt is a personal mash-up of a couple of childhood hardships, topped with some more not so personal ones. His physical inspiration is Matt Bomer. I know they have the same name but Matt Bomer is just too perfect in a suit. ;) Also Matt was just a good wholesome name and sounded good.

Peirce/Raguel: Another angel! Former Archangel actually! Pierce (human nickname) used to be the Archangel who decided the fate of angels who broke the rules. Rather than punishing fellow angels, Pierce decided to step down and hand over the job to another angel. Now he’s an Angel of Death and Judgement, known as Judges. After their paths intersect, Pierce takes an interest in Renee and her human soul. When she chooses to change jobs, she becomes his responsibility and he becomes her mentor. Pierce is a pure angel. No human soul. However, he does have a dark and charming way about him that he enjoys the human world. His physical inspiration is Tom Hiddleston with black hair. Name Inspiration: Raguel is considered by some as an Archangel. His job was watching over the good behavior of fellow angels. I liked this concept but decided to flip the script and make him give up that job because he didn’t like punishing his own kind.

Silly Last Lines

I keep thinking about how my first draft of my WIP, A Soul Reborn actually ended with this sentence:

Before Renee could throw a book at him, he made a run for the balcony and took a flying leap, soaring into the sky.

Even though I’m only half way through rewriting the book, I keep thinking about this and asking myself if I’ll change this. Do I really want to end with the literal take on an idiom like this? LOL who knows? That ending is still to far away.

Tiny writing update!!

I worked 5 pm to 2:15am tonight but it was slow enough that there was some time that I was able to pull out my surface and write!

I worked on @a-soul-reborn-thenovel for the first time in a while!

Dont know how much and I’m really just piecing some dialogues together but I’m feeling good about it.

But then! I realized when I went back to chapter 14 that a scene I’d previously written was missing!! Luckily I had multiple versions of the story from my transitions between microsoft word, Google docs, and Scrivener so I’ll be able to edit and add the scene again.

What I wrote tonight was an interesting piece of dialogue between my MC Renee and her mentor Pierce. It’s a little deep for the bar setting I have it in so I’ll probably move it to that scene I originally was missing.

Let’s hope this fire of inspiration keeps burning tomorrow!

The electronic music just evokes a modern relationship with all this sensual tension and the nearly literal electric connection Matt and Renee feel around each other as they’re drawn to each other over time until Renee can’t help but get involved in his life.
