On this day, 17 November 1983, 6 people founded the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) in the mountains of Chiapas, Mexico. 11 years later, around 3000 predominantly Indigenous armed EZLN members launched an uprising taking control of a considerable amount of land in the region, freeing prisoners and destroying police and army barracks. In a counter-attack by the Mexican army, the guerrillas lost control of many towns and cities and retreated into the Lacandon jungle. Subsequently the Zapatistas established a number of self-governing autonomous communities, with a population of over 300,000 people. Other than personal property, private ownership was abolished, with collective ownership of land and collectively owned and run workplaces. Radical, democratic schools, where pupils are not graded, were established, as was a universal healthcare service, drastically improving public health and reducing infant mortality. So if you know 5 people who think like you, set up a group! This is a detailed history and analysis of the organisation: https://libcom.org/library/commune-chiapas-zapatista-mexico https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1266600530191761/?type=3

Teaching #marginalized people how to shoot and fight. Providing access to self defense to Black, POC, Indeginous, lgbt, disabled.
Self defense os a right, and removing access to it is violence. It allows oppression to operate unchecked.
Help us fight together and build community.
Operating on land stolen from Ute, Cheyenne, Arapahoe, Sioux nations. Or known to colonizers as Colorado.

Interesting that Joe Biden was awarded the Presidential Medal of “Freedom.” Freedom for whom? Where is the “freedom” for the countless black non-violent offenders he was instrumental in imprisoning?
Biden was the prime mover of the Senate version of the bill, and he spent much of 1994 standing on the floor of the Senate boasting about its contents and how he was getting it passed.
While today mass incarceration is a topic that receives bipartisan criticism, for Biden it seemed to be a point of pride. From his remarks on Aug. 23, 1994:
“Just as it is no longer legitimate to say the Republican Party is against, as a matter of course, Social Security, the Republicans are finding out it is no longer legitimate to say the Democrats are soft on crime. Because guess what? What has every major crime bill that has gotten this far been? A Democratic crime bill. A Democratic crime bill. That is the secret. A Democratic crime bill. A Democratic President wants 100,000 cops. A Democratic President wants to build 125,000 new prison cells. That is the secret. And, boy, is that bothersome.”

Self defense is a right.
Restricting access to self defense is always damaging to the most marginalized. It is how control and power are centralized. It is how systemic oppression is made manageable, affordable, and largely replicateatable.
Does Removing barriers to self defense for marginalized people make them magically free from systems of oppression? No.
Does it make it impossible for them to be arrested and placed on concentration camp? No.
But it could save the lives of thousands Black / Indeginous, / LGBT/ disabled people being abducted and or murdered.
We operate under the principle that self defense is a basic human right. That right is set in stone, in steel, in lead, and in blood, of generations of oppressed peoples. It is the inevitable cost of oppression, and we demand it in full.
ARM is set up to reclaim that right regardless the access limitations.
Get in my DMs if you in Colorado and interested.

“You start out in 1954 by saying, ‘Nigger, nigger, nigger.’ By 1968 you can’t say 'nigger'—that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites.… 'We want to cut this,’ is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more abstract than 'Nigger, nigger.’”
— Lee Atwater (Republican National Committee 1989-1991)

Currently training in Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs.
We train in small groups. Our primary instructor is a life long shooter with tons of facilitating experience not only in "beyond ohsa" training for life saving safety procedures, but she has alao taught many people who have never shot a gun before the basics of safety, and use.
We train in public isolated areas away from toxic assholes, and liberal white cis het gun owners who are just as bad.
We are run, founded, and consist solely of marginalized people, with an emphasis on providing access to BIPOC.
We coordinate free ccw classea(with certificate). Ie we will go wjth you to get your ccw. We will also do private trainings.
We operate from promoting and making accessible the following:
1. Self defense
2. Self care
3. Mutual aid
4. Mutual defense
5. Community aid
6. Community defense.
