about a week or so ago i was sobbing over one of my characters since she lives in a very tragic tale.

context, she's a goddess, and by proxy, immortal. one of her [basically sibling] got cursed to a cycle of rebirth due to a crime they committed. ariysus had the power to stop them from committing this crime, but let them commit it out of wanting them to be independent. she had no idea they'd get cursed to mortality and regrets letting them commit the crime to this day.

she tried so very hard to get her sibling free of this curse, even sobbing at her mentor's knees in an act of desperation, but to no avail. she grew bitter after giving up about it, lost in her own grief, guilt, and anger.

as the millennia go by, she avoided her sibling because the fact she essentially let this happen to them pains her. she hopes she'll eventually just forget it or maybe her sibling will just forget about her, despite the fact they care for each other a lot.

one day, in her state of avoiding her sibling, she came across a mortal, and grew very fond of her. the two would become close friends, and she enjoyed the mortal's company, because she made her happy. though, the crushing reality of mortality would strike. and ariysus would distance herself, slowly interacting with the mortal less and less, in hopes the mortal would give up on her and ariysus would've been satisfied when the time came for the mortal's demise. but the mortal kept searching for her, kept caring about her and wanting to know what happened to her. and even on her deathbed, she hoped that wherever ariysus was, she was safe.

and now, ariysus feels as though she betrayed her mortal friend, and as if she left her on bad terms. more guilt.

now she consumes herself in her own deity duties, because its the one thing she knows she can do right. she is also afraid of getting close to others, out of fear of only hurting them and by proxy, herself. everything she does now is for other people, and never for herself.

you know your own character is crafted with so much love and care that you talk about them without response from anyone for like an hour and burst into tears at your own character's story and everything they've gone through. because you love them so much and how did you craft such a beautiful story
