Hey everyone! You might have noticed I’m not... very active lately. I hope to change that in the next year. But for this year, NANA Week is on hiatus.

But I’m very hopeful to hold NANA Week 2024 next year and be back semi-regularly talking about NANA on my main blog. Cause like, my undying love for the series has not diminished, even with all the personal life changes I’ve gone through!

So here’s to seeing you all next year! Thank you. :)

Day 7:  wishes / Tadiama (ただいま, meaning: “I’m home”) @7daysofnana

Here is my late entry of day 7! I’m glad to have completed another NANA week even though I was late again. Hopefully life will let up by next year and I can be prepared like the first time I participated in NANA week? >_> I drew Nana Osaki’s departure and now I officially drew her return. It is a redraw of this image. Ai Yazawa left a lot of questions for us fans but I was happy to explore my conception of NANA lore. Surprisingly, I drew a lot of blonde Nana this week and even did some comic panels for this week.

Day 6:  forgiveness / Sayonara (さよなら, meaning: “Farewell”) @7daysofnana

Here is my late entry for day 6! This picture is read from top to bottom. This panel is a continuation of this panel . I used this  image for reference in the clothes and the hair and face. Soon after Nana left a note apologizing for her sudden departure, she wore sunglasses to add onto her attempt at a disguise. I just gave her generic sunglasses, but it does kind of remind me of Yasu’s sunglasses? I swear it was unintentional. 😅 She went to the airport which is why we can see a plane in the large window. I used this image for airplane reference and called it “Japan Air”. ✈️ As Nana is walking through the airport alone, she thinks to herself “Farewell.”

Day 5:  anxiety / Gomen (ごめん, meaning: “Sorry”) @7daysofnana​

This picture is read from top to bottom. I used this image  as facial reference. I took the clothing articles from this image. We know for sure that Nana Osaki left to go to England where punk style got their influence from. I imagine that she might’ve disappeared soon after Ren’s death hence why her hair is still short here while being depicted blonde and leaving nothing but a note on the table in Room 707. Since she’s trying hard to hide her identity, she probably used a more natural lipstick color such as depicted here  . Winter is also an angsty season, I suppose wearing layers help for a disguise,  and obviously I keep drawing Nana and Yasu reuniting in the winter so I felt like having Nana leave everyone behind in winter.

Day 4:  resentment / What if? @7daysofnana​

Will I ever stop drawing Nana Osaki or Nana x Yasu for NANA weeks? The answer is never! 😆 Only on rare occasions do the optional prompts make me draw something else aside from Nana Osaki or Nana x Yasu. In the NANA series, there’s a lot of what if’s to be had. The what if I decided to explore was: what if Yasu decided to come along to Tokyo with Nana? It took me a lot of digging to find that chapter 25 and episode 30 was what I needed for drawing reference! 😅  Nana yelled at Yasu that there were also law firms in Tokyo and eventually he followed her to Tokyo for the band so what if he decided to forget all reason and hop on the train with her? I’m sure a lot of changes to the plot would’ve been happened had he made that decision. Had he done that, perhaps it would’ve forced him to confess his feelings for her early on, who knows? This is obviously my first time drawing the outside of a train.

Day 3:  harmony / Arigatou gozaimasu (ありがとうございます, meaning: “Thank you”) @7daysofnana

I originally thought that Nana went to thank Yasu after meeting up with him at 4am and planned to draw that but I couldn’t find that scene so instead of drawing something inaccurate, I decided to do another comic page that followed this one I drew for this year’s NANA week. Yesterday was the first time I ever added panels so that’s why the panels look weirdly layered in the first page. The text dialogue didn’t fit in the top panel so I placed it at the bottom. I originally thought of drawing Yasu in the bottom panel but that didn’t seem right so I just had the dialogue bubble and the snowing sea background.

Day 1:  dreams / Ai shiteru (愛 してる, meaning: “I love you”) @7daysofnana​

Here is my late entry for day 1! Read from top to bottom. To me, the Japanese word “aishiteru” was a deeper way of expressing one’s romantic love then simply saying “suki” which means to like or have affection for someone. I wanted to draw Yasu and Nana confessing their love to each other in the future. They are by the sea in the winter. This picture directly follows this image I drew before for NANA week.

Day 2:  passion / Will you please make me miso soup every morning? (毎朝、僕のために味噌汁を作ってほしいんだ。) @7daysofnana​

Here is my late entry for Day 2! Looks like me going out of order is going to be a thing again lol. Aside from day 2, I hope to do the rest in order though. Miso soup is delicious so I had to draw this prompt. This video  was helpful drawing reference. I also looked at this image  as well as this one for drawing reference. I wanted to make the background pink so I decided to go with my pink shoujo background with sparkly bubbles. I guess we can say Ren / the viewer is seeing her in a domestic situation from a romanticized light.

Thank you everyone who posted, reblogged, and liked this NANA Week 2022! I know it was a small year, but tbh that was by design.  Hopefully next year, if all goes according to plan, I can make the... NANA Month we all deserve ;)

Uhhhh, so I gotta admit defeat and admit I won’t be able to finish any of the projects I wanted to for NANA Week 2022 Day 7………… Sorry 😔😭

Instead I bring you a super sneak-peak of my long awaited (for me, anyway lmao) Nana Osaki mega meta analysis, in which I will be going through chapter by chapter discussing Nana Osaki as a character.  This analysis will… very likely be very long and potentially my magnum opus contribution to the NANA community.

Today, I can only offer you the rough draft of my introduction and I can only hope anyone else wants to see more one day… lol
