Adventures in Brazil
123 posts
My name is Stacy, and in March of 2014 I quit my job in the US, left my family and friends,  and moved to Brazil to be with my husband, Cris. I created this blog as a way to stay connected with my family and friends back home, and to provide them with my perspective of life abroad.

Gratitude... that’s the feeling I felt reaching the top. Grateful for the strength to climb a mountain, grateful for the opportunity, grateful to live in a beautiful place, despite being far from my friends and family. With gratitude you can always find the bright side of things. #gratitude #gratidao #picoagudo #loveyourlife (at Pico Agudo) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHnaOIaj_yE/?igshid=1rt222g24h1tp

Happy Birthday to the guy who’s always by my side, who always supports me and never holds me back. He’s an amazing person, and I’m lucky to have him in my life. There are many people in the US who wish they could wish him a happy birthday in person. Maybe one day soon. Cris, you deserve everything this world has to offer! I love you so much.❤️ | Parabéns para o homem que está sempre do meu lado, que sempre meu apoia, e sempre me deixa crescer.

15 years ago today our lives changed in ways we could have never imagined. Since the day we met there’s been a connection so strong that nothing seems to be able to separate us, even when we are physically apart. Through this wild life full of highs and lows, LOVE has been the glue holding us together. ❤️ #love #amor #illegallove #loveconquersall #Stacy&CrisintheUS#lutarporumacausa #lovewins (at Cambé) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBjntRoDFUF/?igshid=1x0cefiovad43

A Bug’s Life
Yes, this is a strange post, but part of adapting to life in Brazil has been getting used the different types of bugs and their constant presence.
While the US has ants, slugs, and caterpillars, it seems like the bug’s I’ve encountered are bigger and more colorful than what I’m used to.
And while I’m thankful that I rarely see spiders (my biggest fear), I could do without the cockroaches.  Here they are just a normal insect; they are big and they fly!!   Luckily, there is a product that keeps them out of the house.
I hope I haven’t made your skin scrawl too much, but I wanted to share this aspect of my life with you.

Just another day.... I went to the farmer's market today, and these little puppies were being given away. (Yes, that is normal down here.) There are many stray dogs in Brazil, and while some people try to find homes for puppies and/or strays the unfortunate truth is that there are too many dogs and not enough people. F.Y.I - The sign on the box says, "Donated Dogs". The equivalent of "Free".

You can't see them, but you can hear them. 🐝🐝 Yes, that buzzing sound is from all of the bees in the palms trees. This was taken at about 6:30am, as I was heading to the gym. The incredible thing is, I heard this from inside the house. Also, these particular bees are all black and do not sting (that's all I know about them).

Coming soon!!!
Over the last year and half, I’ve taken many pictures, but I’ve only posted a fraction of them. A lot of the pictures I’ve taken have been things that seem out of place to me, but are just part of a normal day here in Cambé.
I’d like to start posting these pictures more frequently in a new segment I’m going to call: “Just another day…”
The pictures aren’t always great, as many times I’m caught off guard leaving the gym, a store, or even driving, but they are a true look into my life here and part of my adventures in Brazil.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.... Since Brazil doesn't celebrate Halloween there's no need to wait until November to put out the decorations. There won't be a white Christmas here though. It's not even summer yet, and we've already had many days in the mid to high 90's.
