Here's the piece I did for "Save The Town, Save The World" by @tnoy-keraxis for @hatchetfield-bang. This one marks my 3rd year joining this wonderful fan event, and I'd like to thank all of the mods, especially @warriorblood1 for trying their best, and participants for keeping it alive. To @tnoy-keraxis, thank you for your incredible work! It gave me the inspiration right from the first few paragraphs, so everyone please give it a shot!

Xander Lee woke up to find a little blue package wrapped with a golden ribbon sitting under the Christmas tree. Well, that was weird, he didn't remember anyone gifting him that. Also there's a certain scent in the air too, just a light but very distinctively tobacco-ish smell. He wondered who Casper really saw last night. "Thanks Santa, I guess" he said.

For the longest time, you'd learned to deal with disappointment and letdown by self-loathing, self-doubt and self-blaming.

Nothing disgusted you more than the thought of being you, doing the things that you liked and still being cherished by others. Compliments were personal attacks, because, clearly, to you, they only said that because they were polite, you didn't deserve the praise, surely there must be a motive behind those nice words. So, to think that today, on your birthday, you throw a party of your own, make a present for you only, bake some good stuff because you haven't had that before, your past self might not be able to even fathom the idea.

Of course, getting to this point was not easy, you didn't magically love yourself, it was the constant labor of stopping your coping mechanism coming into play. You looked after yourself more, you ate when you were hungry, you saw a therapist for the first time, and most importantly, you fought for the right to be different without feeling excluded.

You've learned so much about yourself this year buddy. I'm so proud of you. Every now and then, we might revert back to our old self just a little bit. But don't worry, I got you.

this one's a bit challenging, because i've never worked with dark skin color palette before

When he got to the "disappearing in space" part, I knew I had to draw it. And then it took me a crazy amount of time to finish (or maybe i'm just super slow :p) I'm super late to this, but happy anniversary Jon!
