From September 1993-March 1994 I dated Elise (because I love can't-tell-if-this-love-is-romantic-or-platonic tropes), but turns out we're just friends (which DEFINITELY adds onto the tension I was talking about last post).

She's really the only one that I fully scripted that I'm partners with, but I've scripted simple dates (April 1994-July 1994, October 1994-March 1996) but I've considered scrapping them to make it a complete surprise for what happens.. idk

90's Britain was chock full of rivalries between bands--both personal and public. But how does Dirty Laundry size up to all of this?

Blur ☆

Obviously, since Vince is involved with both Blur and Dirty Laundry, then they should be on good terms, right? Well, Blur vs. Oasis wasn't the only Battle of Britpop, one of them being the battle over Vincent's main attention. Would Vince decide to spend most of his time on his own project, or would he work with the band that got him famous in the first place?

"Oh, Blur's stolen him away! He lives with Damon and spends all day in their studio, not ours! And ours is so much cooler, too!" -Elise Glover

"His bandmates are a piece of work. Maybe it's because they're from the North, but I don't like them. I don't think they like me either, big deal." -Damon Albarn

Somehow, as the tension would get worse because of Dirty Laundry's growing international success, Vincent's personal relationships with members of both bands would get better. You'd never see Both bands together, but tensions would subside when Blur gained a much bigger opponent, Oasis.

Oasis ☆

Again, since Vince was in Dirty Laundry, you'd think the two bands would hate each other, but, you got to always expect the unexpected with these battles.

Oasis and Dirty Laundry's first interaction was with Dirty Laundry's release of their second single, "Believe," on April 11, 1994, the same day as Oasis's first single "Supersonic." Who won? Dirty Laundry, with their single reaching #1 on the UK Independent Singles Chart. Were there any hard feelings? Surprisingly not. (Besides Liam Gallagher being a bit sour for losing a bet from it, where he lost £100.) To the dismay of Damon (and the rest of Blur, honestly), Dirty Laundry hit it off well with Oasis quite quickly.

"Yeah, he's alright, they're all quite young, though. Might need to get Vince on a track. I thought he was like his other bandmates in Blur, he's quite good at hiding the fact he's a lower-class Mancunian and all that." -Noel Gallagher

"I prefer mucking about with Liam and Noel [Gallagher] more because I relate to them more... all of it’s good music, and if that means Oasis’ll sell bigger venues than us and place higher on the charts, then who the hell cares?” -Vincent Rose

After repeatedly showing indifference towards Blur vs. Oasis in interviews, Vince was asked by Noel to help him with a track, and he happily obliged. Keeping it a secret from the public until it's release, Vince had secretly helped with Oasis's single "Whatever," truly showing the public how much of a fence sitter Vincent really is towards the rivalry.

The Red Leather Jacket – A staple since VICE’s early days. Torn at the sleeve, permanently smells like cigarettes and beer. If he’s wearing something else, something’s wrong.

Beat-up Chelsea Boots – Scuffed beyond repair, covered in questionable stains, yet somehow still holding together.

Unbuttoned Shirts & Messy Chains – Rarely fully dressed, always a little undone. If there’s a button, it’s never fastened.

Cheap Sunglasses – Usually oversized, usually stolen from a mate.

Smudged Eyeliner & Cigarette-Stained Fingers – Always looks like he either just got offstage or just woke up in someone else’s bed.

Basically Dirty Laundry started as a cover band in 1989 when we were in secondary school, where we had a different guy as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. (I was only on lead guitar.) BUT, in '91, our singer started spreading rumors about me ALL over school because he saw his ex flirting with me. In short, it all falls apart and I move down to London in '92 after I graduate. I become a background musician and gig for several underground bands around East London to save money for college. (Wanting to be a music teacher is why I know how to play so many instruments I SWEAR IM NOT A MARY SUE 😭)

Well on April 11, 1992, I play a gig for a small little band called Blur, and they're going to play one of their new songs "Popscene." However, their lead singer, Damon Albarn must not've been very smart at writing music because well,,, the part was shit. I decide after doing a soundcheck, to completely rewrite the part, with Damon egging me on because he doesn't think it'd be any good. (OH! Probably good time to mention that I was born in 1975 so I'd be 17 at the time :P) After rewriting it, Damon (and the rest of the band) realize Shit. This is actually pretty good.. At the end of the show, I get asked to join them on the American tour that's just in 3 days. I agree, because why the hell not? It can't be that bad..

At the end of the tour, I get asked to help on the next album, "Modern Life Is Rubbish." I agree, but I have my eyes on something else. After smartly convincing (begging over the phone and letters) Elise and Finn to move down to London, we begin to work on our debut album, "The Clothes Our Parents Used To Wear." (I know, long ass title.)

(Dirty Laundry wins ofccc 💪), and Dirty Laundry wins a LOTT of MTV VMAs (We're just better lololol).

⋆ Vincent Rose - (Lead guitar, lead vocals, trumpet) Despite becoming the replacement singer in '91, Vince is nothing more than the perfect fit for a frontman with a fiery soul and eccentric taste. Always double-booked, Vince keep the whole band afloat and he'll do anything to make sure the band survives the '90s.

⋆ Finn Potter - (Rhythm guitar, drums, percussion, backup vocals) The most laid back member, Finn keeps the band realistic, trying to keep them out of drama and controversy. Keeping the band out of major danger, Finn has the most common sense out of the band when all together.

⋆ Elise Glover - (Bass, backup vocals) The true heart and soul of the band, Elise doesn't take shit from anyone that doesn't respect her or her friends. The glaringly coolest member of the band, you've never seen kindness and badass-ery work together so well.
