Microsoft has decided to inform me that in a year or so they'll no longer support Windows 10, but that my computer is "not eligible" for an upgrade to Windows 11, which I understand to mean they have arbitrarily chosen not to give it to me so that I'll be *forced* to buy it.
My computer is probably about 15 years old, not counting parts like the graphics card I got six-ish years ago so video games wouldn't suck anymore, and the hard drive I got five-ish years ago after my old hard drive caught fire. But I fail to see why that should matter. If my computer is capable of running the latest Windows, then they should just give it to me.
I now find myself significantly more interested in learning about alternative operating systems than I was a few minutes ago.

googling "how to make Crimson Peak UHD Blu-Ray play on my PC but explained in terms the kind of bitch who writes 75K words of Crimson Peak fanfiction will understand"
(I know I need an external drive and to download a Software to play it. but do I need anything else? which external drive is best for my money? what software? I do not have a TV and I am not interested in buying one, nor yet the gaming consoles they say work with this format.)
(I have my little Dell running Windows 10 and I am willing to buy an external Blu-Ray drive. That is all)

Ehhh should I call an ambulance? You're writing assembly BY HAND?
Are you clinically insane or what?
Lol yeah x86 is an abomination -- we should've moved to ARM or PowerPC or something yesterday.
I just thought it'd be an instructive exercise to get down in the trenches for a sec -- I'm learning a lot about x64 opcodes, the System V ABI and all sorts of neat stuff. I'm hoping that in the next couple days I'll be able to write a little brainfuck compiler from scratch.

Computers are very simple you see we take the hearts of dead stars and we flatten them into crystal chips and then we etch tiny pathways using concentrated light into the dead star crystal chips and if we etch the pathways just so we can trick the crystals into doing our thinking for us hope this clears things up.

Wrong: Ada Lovelace invented computer science and immediately tried to use it to cheat at gambling because she was Lord Byron's daughter.

This is a subject that really interests me because I (28 years old) had computer classes in grade school where learning how to efficiently type was a big focus. As a result I have a very high WPM (words per minute) count and am an excellent touch typer.
However, I've heard that they started phasing out computer classes in a lot of schools because it's assumed that kids/teenagers already know how to use a computer in this day and age. But smartphones are more popular than computers now, and as result a lot of Gen Z/Gen Alpha kids are able to text very quickly but their typing skills aren't as good.

Please share propaganda in the notes!
EDIT since this has breached containment! Some info on the poll as whole!
1- I'm sorry to put two bad bitches against each other. The bracket setup was randomly selected, not seeded to have equal match-ups. BUT there will be a revival round!
2- Image descriptions are in the ALT text.
3- As always, there is a real human person running these, so keep negative propaganda to a minimum in the notes. Talk up your faves as much as you want, but don't shit-talk the other option.
Thanks!
